  1. Pinned to the top and subscribed to!
  2. I've never seen Jack sit on his DB, anyway!
  3. I think they're still finalising the schedule, but for the moment we have these: Main Stage Masterclasses Other Things Happening
  4. Ralph, welcome to the upright GAS club. I'd say start with a EUB (I agree with Pete's suggestion) while you have a small child, then realise you've fallen head over heels in love with the long scale, and get a DB - space at home permitting. Until a few months ago we had a righty upright and a righty DB, plus my two lefty uprights. We only got rid of the righty EUB because Jack fell in love with the Takamine TB10 (which is a fretless bass guitar!) and uses it for the EUB gigs. The DB is staying put!
  5. Yes, definitely. When I was talking to him, 18 months ago, I banged on (and whined!) about the non-existence of lefty Dingwalls, and he said that he wanted to produce some, but that would imply getting entirely new tools for most tasks, so he would start production once the company's finances allowed it. I take it as a good sign, then, that he's done it. I'm seriously thinking of killing my GAS forever by buying one!
  6. He didn't mention that when I interviewed him, though.
  7. Confirmed on FB today. They are going to showcase a couple at NAMM. I shall report back.
  8. Saw this on Facebook and am excited! I'll be wanting to ask Sheldon a few lefty questions at NAMM. Dingwall Guitars on FB
  9. In fact, strictly speaking, that logo banner isn't a backdrop. And yes' it's easy and quick to put up. We do believe the band should be easily identifiable, so we try not to do without the banner. Showing the band for what it is, a pub rock band playing in pubs, in photos and videos is part of our marketing, for when we pitch to other pubs/small venues. So the logos are not just for the punters at that particular gig, but for future landlords and customers too. The immediate problem you hit in most pubs if you want to do that is that you'd have to use an awful lot of gaffa tape (which ruins the paint and/or the wallpaper etc.), move crockery and other decorative items to other places, interfere with curtains, aircon units, drop-down screens and projectors, you name it. The managers, while usually helpful, are not always as accommodating as you would need them to be in order to make the backdrop look perfect and be worth the hassle.
  10. We also have flyers on the tables! It's important to keep in mind that the Dogs are a pub rock cover band, and have no desire to look in their photos like they're playing Wembley Arena, when everybody knows most of the times it's the Dog and Duck (and that's how they like it!).
  11. I still prefer to use the features, such as windows, for stage light effects, rather than trying to hide them.
  12. We've given up on that - most 'stages' are just a corner of a pub, and trying to create a decent background is usually impossible, so we concentrate on displaying the band's name for the punters to remember. We do use lights, however.
  13. The Junkyard Dogs have a reasonably large logo banner on a lightweight stand, and the bass drum logo. We have been known to use gaffa tape to hang the banner on the wall, where space is too tight for the stand!
  14. Two gigs this weekend - one electric, the other unplugged. Any local BCers? Come and say hi if you can. Both free entry, 9pm and 5pm.
  15. Jack and I can make the 14th.
  16. Moderators can reply to locked threads if they so wish.
  17. Yes. Obscure Musical Backwaters - with some history
  18. This topic has now been moved to Bass Guitars.
  19. I guess we can arrange that!
  20. Yes, it would be nice to decide a date now so we can put it in our diaries. I've currently got it pencilled in on Sunday 15th April.
  21. Same happened to me, with the same user. That was a few days ago. Not happened since.
  22. Very possibly.
  23. Might be the Lefty Tax? (sigh)
