  1. I love the idea of a chord chart resource on BC, and this looks like being an excellent start - clear and concise.
  2. I've just tweeted this - I had missed this thread. Apologies.
  3. Nah, you know what I said last time we talked about this earlier in this thread - I realised we weren't happy with the Zoom because we could compare its output to something else which we liked better. Per se, the Zoom recordings of our gigs would have shown no problems, if it wasn't for the fact that the other recordings were better. No big deal. We'll try the complicated, expensive solution at the first suitable opportunity, and report back.
  4. As an update regarding my equipment, we have never returned to the Zoom, which we found to be unsatisfactory, and we are still using my old Canon SX40, which is still offering a sterling performance; we have, however, upped our game and bought one of these, which has performed impressively in our home test. We'll report back when we have some live footage. Its setup is, however, a lot more complicated (and expensive) than the Canon's point, zoom and click (this is a stock photo) Edit: forgot to say we're using my older, entry-level DSLR, which has been superseded on photo duty by my Canon 70D.
  5. I can confirm the above, and add that I've also seen Mike walking around the LBGS carrying basses, and settling in a quiet(er) room to plug them in and review them.
  6. And a very nice guy. I hope to be able to see him perform.
  7. To add to the weirdness of it all, I am now receiving the emails whose absence I mentioned above, one by one, 7, 8 or 9 hours after they were sent by this website to my non-Gmail account. And another weird thing: I've just been logged out unexpectedly both on my laptop and on my mobile - first time since The Big Move a month ago.
  8. That would be one possibility, but for the fact that they've put a percentage indicator right on the Inbox page, and it's been at a healthy 61% for the last few weeks. I do a lot of housekeeping on that account, so that percentage indicator is the second thing I always look at on that page, after the new messages. Still a mystery...
  9. The email account that comes with my own web page, which I registered and manage through Names.co.uk. Very weird of them to block only half of the notifications, whatever the reason.
  10. Looks like the Gmail account did the trick. I'm now finally receiving both thread replies and forum new thread notifications! Ta muchly @charic !
  11. Agreed! I'll try a Gmail account and report back.
  12. Right, I think I haven't given you enough details. I am subscribed to receive an email for each reply to threads I follow, and for each new thread created in forums I follow. It used to happen absolutely like clockwork until a few days ago. The notification to replies stopped before The New Era but the problem continues now. The reason why I'm baffled is that, if it was a "spam filter at ISP level" thing, it would also block the emails I receive every time someone creates a new thread in the forums I follow. Those, instead, are working fine. *scratches head*
  13. I'm not getting anything in the spam folder either! And it's the same on both PCs I use.
  14. Yes, that used to happen fine! You know, @charic, I didn't get a notification for your reply to this, either.
  15. First new bug on The New Era - sorry! In the last few days, I have received email notifications only for some of the content I follow. For instance, no notifications for the Acoustic Bass thread in GD. I have gone to my notifications page, unsubscribed from the notifications i had ticked, re-subscribed, but still nothing. However, I do seem to receive notifications of new threads that are created in the forums I follow, including GD.
  16. I have one of those large acoustic bass guitars that look very much like an acoustic guitar, with phosphor-bronze rounds on, and I would agree that it's always best to amplify when in a band situation. You're more likely to find a semi-acoustic bass guitar - with active electronics, preamp etc. - in shops or online, as opposed to a purely acoustic one, and I suppose there's a good reason for that.
  17. Congrats, Alan! It was a pleasure, and highly GAS-inducing, to speak to you at the LBGS. I hear you're going to be at NAMM too? We'll see you there for a catch-up and more GAS!
  18. We still don't seem to have a "Shop", but the FAQs suggest that the £18 is the annual renewal fee. From https://www.basschat.co.uk/faq/
  19. I'm drawing a blank, which may be due to either my poor searching skills or the limitations of the current search function (still only going back 12 months, I think, until we migrate to a more powerful server).
  20. Aah, yes, you're right. I'll do a bit of searching and see if I can find the thread.
  21. Do you mean this thread? It's still here. I don't know how the OP is doing, though. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/289778-i-wrote-a-book-about-being-in-a-covers-band/
  22. This is the reply I received: I am also assured that the birthday congratulations are genuine - think about it, these guys were being interviewed and simply added their happy birthday message to their interview. No need to make anything up.
  23. Well, I have no idea, I'm afraid, and I've just done what anyone could have done, I've emailed them. I'll report back.
  24. I have no information about that, I'm afraid.
