  1. They don't seem to have revealed the timetable yet - I'll keep the forum posted if I get any more info. Incidentally, I've finally published the 2017 blog (https://goo.gl/z7UPA4), with a few cool photos of our team, and it's good to know BC will be there again.
  2. Sorry, my fault - they were set to Private. They should work now.
  3. I seem to have finally made it! SE Bass Bash blog is here: https://goo.gl/xoNCy9 and belated LBGS 2017 blog is here: https://goo.gl/z7UPA4  Phew... ;)

Incidentally, I hope you guys have some sort of ad blocker installed - not for Basschat, but for Wordpress, who seem to be going overboard with ads on blogs, at least judging by how many blocked 'items' my own Adblock counts every time I'm on that page.

Thanks for putting that up (that was my stringless aluminium Tele! - I took it along as another member gave me a bit for it, but we didn't quite link up on the day...).

Thanks for the excellent write-up and pictures! I was thwarted by a family engagement at the last minute, looked like it was terrific fun for all.

  4. LOL that was the only non-stressful day so far! Anyway, I've just published the SE Bash blog: Click here!
  5. I have been assured that there's a lot of activity behind the scenes, but the organisers are choosing not to make announcements yet. Exhibitors and stars are being booked as we speak, a large number of them are confirmed, and names will start to trickle out soon.
  6. Nothing helps more than being prepared! @Happy Jack has a habit of never completely trusting wireless, so that precious lead will always be handy on stage even when the device has new batteries. Dunno about the tenner, but he'd certainly be even faster if he were to drop a bass guitar...
  7. The NXT stand may be ugly, but it's fully adjustable in terms of height and angle, and the bass is very firmly held by the mechanism. You could even choose to not fully tighten the bass on the stand, if you wanted it to tilt a bit while you're playing it, and it wouldn't fall off, but you would have to remember to tighten the clamp before you leave, or the bass would slowly slide down.
  8. Last night at The Fox and Hounds in Stony Stratford - fantastic audience, and MacDaddy's finest hour! Should I Stay Or Should I Go
  9. I agree with that, and in fact I do also have a slightly more DB-like EUB in the shape of my righty-turned-lefty Harley Benton. It's got a DB-like bridge and the neck's shape and size, the action etc. are closer to a DB than an NXT. I love both and happily switch between the two.
  10. I see nobody has replied yet, so I'll start the ball rolling. I have an NXT 5 - photos here: Warning - it's LEFT-HANDED! Pros: very very portable; looks great; extremely easy to play, as its action can be set as low as that on a bass guitar, and it's got DOTS! Adjustable bridge height makes bowing perfectly comfortable too; extremely easy to set up through holes in the back plate, without the need to remove the cover; has a fully adjustable tripod stand that eliminates the need to balance the bass on your body while you play - it stays where you put it and you can walk around it. Cons: doesn't sound like a double bass, even with the corresponding switch activated; doesn't 'feel' like a double bass, and offers much less of a physical experience, because it's so small and thin you can almost play it like a bass guitar; the tripod is rather horrid to look at. Er, that's it for the cons... I do like my NXT a lot; then again, a normal size double bass is bigger and heavier than me, and a lefty is practically impossible to find and try before buying/ordering one from scratch, so EUBs are just about my only option.
  11. I can't see any photos - did you ever post any? They may help you sell faster. Good luck (I already have two acoustic basses, so I really can't justify).
  12. Two threads on the same topic - now merged.
  13. Jack's question was generic, because we do all of our posters, flyers and images in-house, so to speak, and we are in the fortunate position not to need external services. But since enquiries about posters and flyers have appeared in the past on this forum, it's good to know we can refer any future ones to you.
  14. Yes, sorry. I've had an immensely busy and stressful year, which has majorly impacted on the writing, editing and publishing of anything that wasn't deadly urgent BGM articles. I'm not out of the woods yet - but I'm hopefully running out of "things to do before looking at that blog". Keep the faith
  15. Unfortunately it has long changed hands and stopped hosting music. It's still a nice gastropub in leafy West London, though. Yours truly was behind the camera, marveling at the speed of Jack's disaster recovery action! @Al Krow I'm reasonably sure the wireless system wasn't a Smoothhound - that one came later, Jack was using a different one at the time, IIRC
  16. There'll be quite a few of us there in January. We'll be the British Invasion!
  17. Yes, he's correct, @charic, it looked like this: Edit: the number was clickable, and you could copy the url of the individual post to go directly to it.
  18. Couple of vids from the Red Lion: Back In The Night Wild Side of Life
  19. Halloween gig at the Prince of Wales, Wimbledon. Yes, the band went overboard with costume and makeup More Halloween (but less makeup), the following day at The Tabard. The Red Lion in Little Missenden, mid-November.
  20. Time to add a few more photos from the Dogs' latest gigs. Unplugged gig at a birthday do in Stepney at the beginning of September: The Black Horse in Greenford at the end of September: The Goat Inn, St Albans, in mid-October: More in the next post
  21. I'm with Charic, that does sound weird. Definitely have a word with Sims before condemning the neck.
