1. For a professional there should be no difference in setting up a righty or a lefty. What I don't like in the setups offered by most specialists is that they will follow the book, so to speak, measuring distances and gaps and making them all standard according to "the rules". I don't know how many of us enjoy standard setups, but I know I certainly don't: for instance, I like the G string to have a much lower action than the other strings (makes it easier to play the high notes when I use my pinky). I like to adjust the action through lifting or lowering the saddles and the nut (Warwicks are way ahead of most other makes, in that they have adjustable ones) as well as through the usual truss rod tweaks. Some of the above would be anathema to a pro... I'm the official re-string/setup person in our lefty+righty household, and it makes no difference to how I work; however, I always do the final adjustments only after we have actually played the bass and decided if it still needs tweaking.
2.
Agree with this. and become members of groups and post in those as well.
Especially the venues' own groups, as they will be frequented by many of their regulars. FB doesn't allow pages to post in groups, so an individual - band member or fan - has to do the posting.
3.
This is deadly serious stuff I'll have you know
It is indeed! I'm learning a lot from this thread.
4. Believe me, I'd better stick to (left-handed) bass and just to that, really...
5. You can use flyers in a targeted way, saving money and avoiding littering. We spread a handful of Junkyard Dogs flyers on tables when the band gigs a new or new-ish venue. They don't list any gigs, so they never expire, and instead they have all the links to the website, the social media and Lemonrock, and a QR code for reaching the website with your mobile phone at a stroke.
6. Regarding Facebook, one way of extending the reach of the band's posts is to ask people to share them. For instance, ask all the band members to share the band page's posts on their own timelines. As mentioned above, that can also be achieved by tagging band members and friends, but I would be selective rather than indiscriminate, and tag only those friends and fans who aren't irritated by it and like sharing the band's news.
7. LOL, subscribed - thank you Jack for pointing this thread out to me. Priceless
8. The Dogs were back at the Red Lion in Isleworth last night, after a hiatus. It was a fun gig with a great audience. Full album here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskDpykWm
9. New venue for the Dogs last night - the Walton Working Men's Club. There were a lot of laser beams and stage lights! Whole album here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskzK5t5P
10. Fantastic. Sooo cool! As Mark says, absolutely go for it.
11.
So, is it still a problem if an artist has a laptop, tablet or screen of some sort in front of them? I'm interested in views.
They'll still look crap in photos...
12. Besides being abysmally uncool, music stands usually screw up any photos you may take of the band that try to show anyone that's not the frontperson. Fie, fie, fie!!!!!!!
13. If I was you I'd post photos for the benefit of potential buyers; you may get more interest that way.
14. The band were back at Kew Market on Sunday 3rd, where the temperature was a little bit more agreeable than four months ago. They had a friendly audience, and one totally mesmerised young fan Full album here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskCGWBdq
15. That bass is pure bling! It won't be to everybody's taste, but that's the point, I think.
16. Semi-acoustic gig at a private function yesterday afternoon. We dodged the rain - just - also thanks to our state-of-the-art waterproofing system. Note the tarpaulins on the pedalboards!
17. Thanks Mick - I've also published the blog as a note on Facebook, so if we don't grab Clarky's and Nige's attention on LinkedIn, we'll ambush them on FB
18. Excellent stuff, thank you Hilary and Mick. The blog is now published! (Apologies for taking this long) - check it out here: http://wp.me/p2ZbyY-vO As always, let me know about any errors and omissions.

22.
This link you have posted is just a discussion about the origins of the SGC Nanyo and not people posting their pride and joy.
Yes it is. Read it properly. It's currently 13 pages long.
