1. Another gig, closer to home this time, yesterday at the Viaduct in Hanwell. http://flic.kr/s/aHskv4aLEv
2. Nik has created a more relevant thread for the bash which you are invited to follow and post on - I'll lock this one. Please see here: http://basschat.co.u...september-2016/ Thanks
3. So how did this end? Is the bass back in ColinH's hands?
4. Mick, for best results I'd need an image of slightly better quality for the Facebook event on Basschat's page - the resolution of this one is pretty low. I'll create the FB event in a week or two.
5. I've just added the Facebook event for this bash to Basschat's page - see here, and join the event if you like https://www.facebook.com/events/921073771344273/
6. This is the photo of the handout, from my blog of the event. WARNING - the image appears huge on here, no matter what setting I use to link to it. Apologies. If the image below is too unwieldy, please refer to the blog itself - https://bassclef141....bass-bash-2014/ . The image, and the link to the video are near the beginning.
7. More King Ralph - this time it was yesterday at the Hanwell Hootie 2016 (at The Fox pub) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154096566689207.1073741869.528729206&type=1&l=7495104878
8. The blog! At last... http://wp.me/p2ZbyY-v8 As always, please let me know about errors and omissions and I'll edit accordingly.
9. So I'm guessing you need to have arms like a chimpanzee...?
10. It looks absolutely fine to me, actually! He just grabbed any old strap and put it on the bass quickly just to show me, he didn't spend time adjusting it for the occasion.
11.
Looks great except the headstock. Something a bit more tbird-y kinda like they have with the Super P and J models would fit better to my eyes.
I asked Sheldon about the headstock and he replied that it needs to be so small to avoid the dreaded T-bird neck dive. Not a hint of neck dive here...
12. My pleasure! I love meeting Basschatters at the LBGS. EZ, there were even MORE double basses than those - this is the other side of the room:
13. LOL some of them were taken early in the morning when visitors were not yet allowed in. I've got lots of crowded shots which do not appear here as they don't show the stands.
14. Forgot to add this - fellow Warwick lover, and fellow grumpy old person, I forgot your name! Please enlighten me!
15. OK I think is the last mixed batch before they all - and more - end up on my blog. Lots of double basses Gillett's semi-acoustic basses European Guitar Builders Le Fay's steel fingerboard bass Bass Direct's GAS Central Rob has his photo taken by BGM's pro photographer Ecki Rhino's turn And finally - if you found the noise intolerable, you should mostly blame your fellow visitors.
16. Thanks guys - there are many, many more pictures which I'm finalising. Most of them will end up on the blog; some are on my Facebook timeline, set as public, so anyone can see them. Feel free to have a look. I'll try to upload another bunch of pics on here tomorrow.
17. And here are some more - from the masterclasses and the shows. Freekbass Dave Swift with Joel McIver Adam Ben Ezra Peter Hook with Dave Marks Michael Manring Suzi! Mass Mental Neil Fairclough
18. Previous page; more coming soon.
19. Apologies again for my absence. I'm starting to upload a bit of stuff on FB and on here. Here are some shots, caption-free for the moment as I'm a bit in a hurry. (Note the typo in the stand's name)
20. 1. There were almost twice as many exhibitors this year than last year. We counted the lists on the last two shows brochures. 2. A huge trade show would by definition exclude 'normal' people and only allow companies there. Is that what the majority of us wants? 3. Disappointed by the number of exhibitors? Make the show more attractive to companies by bringing your credit card and buying stuff. Most exhibitors had special show prices for all their goods. --- Apologies for my low profile and the lack of pictures. I have a very pressing deadline for a couple of articles in BGM and I am travelling. Normal service will be resumed soon.
21.
I'm so stoked about this! Will be going tomorrow and I'm taking my dad for his birthday, who is a waaay better bass player than me. Do we have a Basschat stand this year?
Excellent birthday pressie for your Dad! We won't have a Basschat corner this year, but there will be plenty of Basschatters at the show, both among the visitors and the exhibitors, so it's a matter of doing a bit of spot-the-BC-lanyard and saying hi to the wearer when you see one.
22. I'll certainly see you there for a chat, Chris!
23. Robert Trujillo and Mark King... http://www.londonbassguitarshow.com/news-2/bass-legend-mark-king-to-join-robert-trujillo-on-the-main-stage/
24. More King Ralph (with Keith Waithe) activity last Sunday morning in the freezing cold at Kew Market:
