1. Yup, unfortunately. BGM is OK, though - it usually hits the shelves (or the mailboxes) at the end of the month preceding the cover date, which means it shows the correct month during most of its shelf life.
2. That's the December issue, the current one - in fact, better hurry if you want to buy a copy, as the January issue is almost ready for publication.
3.
Is this your personal bass..? Most of your previous basses for sale are right-handed; this is a 'lefty'..? Just curious, as I'm ambidextrous, myself (I play drums 'lefty'...).
Yes, it would be nice to know the answer, if you don't mind, zomnius.
4. Much more fun, and quite a lot of lights, at The Horns in Watford last Sunday. First pic of album: Rest of album here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskqFUQhb
5. Aw thanks! I'm at the show every year, wearing my lanyard with my name, so anyone who spots me walking around and would like to say hi, absolutely feel free to do it! If you don't mind being photographed you may even end up in That Blog.
6. Mick's Lawmen will play The Horns this Sunday evening, and we've never been to the place before. Anyone know what the parking is like around there? Load-in and load-out arrangements, etc.? We'll be driving there in Happy Jack's van, which obviously occupies more space than a car. Thanks in advance
7. Incidentally, a quick search on the social media shows that 5 Seconds of Summer - the one in the pic - is a huge band. They've apparently been touring the world and have millions of FB likes. https://www.facebook.com/5secondsofsummer/ It's emphatically not the band these kids are trying to form.
8. Local gig at The Lord Nelson in Brentford, last Friday 27/11 First image of album: Rest of album here! https://flic.kr/s/aHskmKZ4SK
9. Bump! Hoping to be able to load in tonight without being rained on too badly.
10. Local gig for Happy Jack's groovy band - nice, friendly pub north of the A4. West London Basschatters - you know where to find us if you're at a loose end
11. The stage lighting for the Lawmen's gig at The Gunners pub on 13 November was pretty dire, resulting in some rather low quality pics, I'm afraid. 12.
The shortcomings of tab is that you have to already know the song before it makes any sense. You can read the dots and play any piece of music even if you've never heard before. That's why tab is a kids bike with stabilisers, while dots are a Trek Emonda.
And the above is absolutely true.
13. Incidentally, this is a good site for left-handed musicians who don't feel like photoshopping every single damn chord chart and similar to obtain a mirror image: http://www.melbay.com/Products/CategoryCenter/L09/LeftHanded%20Instruction.aspx
14. What Chardbass says. In this particular instance you have those vertical lines attached to the zeros which are a bit confusing - most tabs don't have them, and only show the number. In your case, and mine, the numbers tell us what fret to press with our right hand.
15. Check this out. As a lefty, you won't find the fingerboard in the recording of any use, but the tablature is fine whichever hand you use for fretting, because you follow one note at the time. 16.
Can you get 5 string TAB?
Yes you can - even books that give the proper dots for every song they contain will also have tab below the notes, and if the bassline is played on a fiver, the tab will be 5-string too.
17. As well as having a tiny, neckdive-busting headstock, the Bass Collection is a very, very lightweight instrument. Much lighter than my Corvette 4, which is near-identical in size.
18. First time at the newly refurbished Grove in Walton on Thames. Huge fun and lots of dancing! https://flic.kr/s/aHskpMbzFd
