nice, possibly a startrooper bass?
I don't know. Been googling but haven't found any reference to it yet. Will look up Startrooper. Any Gibson experts got a view?

  2. Just collected my new baby fresh from sunny California. A 95 Gibson Les Paul bass. Not seen many in this colour. Cream with black hardware. Even came loaded with a new set of Black Beauty's. Couldn't be happier. Plays like a dream, lovely colour and only a couple of really tiny blemishes. When I saw on EBay the seller stated delivery only in USA. I dropped him a note and he was happy to ship. $146 shipping, £136 import taxes. Still about the same price as if I had bought in the UK so happy enough with the cost. Took just 10 days to arrive too. Might need a bigger guitar rack now.........

  3. I suffer from all these horrors but as I'm also the singer, i get the sheer terror of approaching the opening line and complete blankness as I can't remember the words, that and a backing vocalist who often sings the wrong line over mine - I sometimes tend to over think the songs rather than just let them come. I do know them but then have weird anomalies that I regularly forget. It is bizarre how my brain works. Mind you, we do 33-35 songs per show of around 70 in the repertoire so can be forgiven for the odd f*ck up i guess?

  4. I was there on Saturday night too. I thought they were fantastic. Despite his vocal limitations, Ian Brown is perfect to front the band. The crowd sang through every song and the musicianship was quality. They can groove for England. The bar was extortionate though! Liked the comment about the trip back to the underground, a massive bunch of blokes singing Roses songs while cuddling each other. Ace

    Quote about them on T/B

The Big Stud retailed for about $350, rather a lot for a plywood bass...it was made by Tokai (Kasuga International) and was also marketed by Martin as the Sigma SBB2-8 and by Gretsch under the Dorado brand.

I'm thinking......not far away from us eh Will?

  6. Reading a thread on here a few weeks ago I realised that Roqsolid were based near to where I live. I found them last week and met Lee. He created me a case for a powered monitor (a rounded wedge shape - not straight), made a template while I waited, let me choose the fabric and bindings then quoted a great price (no shipping costs). Less than a week later, calls to say it's ready. I honestly couldn't be happier. What a guy and a team. Really friendly and helpful. Absolute credit due in a time where many businesses offer second rate and sometimes surly service. Wish I had more cases need! buy with confidence (but then I know loads of you already have) Andy

Thanks all for the replies, much appreciated. Got it all sorted now (or I hope, anyway).

Small world, I think you've seen my band play a couple of times at the Bankhouse in Pudsey (assuming this is the same Andy from the Cardinals in Leeds I know anyway).

I can heartily recommend Ben at Beej guitars.
I've worked with Ben on many tours across Europe and the UK with him in his capacity as Guitar and bass tech and he has a wonderful and comprehensive workshop in Leeds that offers all levels of work from new nuts to new paint jobs.

Agree - Beej is a top guy. Has done several of mine. He is based at The Old Chapel studio. His number is 07921 068628. Its not just a Monkey thing!!! Ha

  10. Completely agree with having it. As stated most small pubs etc don't ask. Many larger venues however do. That means that if you wanna play some events, you will need it. Our experience is that we can charge more for these types of events and therefore the annual lay out of C£110 is well worth it. Even if it's not asked for, it's definitely worth having for the reasons mentioned earlier in this thread. Andy

I have about 3 and they are always good. i just wish they offered an orange seam to go with my new cab
I had one made for my Orange SP212 cab in black with Orange piping. Looks ace BUT fits like a bag of sh*te. Guess where from? BLOODY SILVERSTONE. Wish I had gone to Roqsolid, not least cos they're close to where I live too! Ah well - next time....
