Soccer AM bump

Hiya, am selling my mint 450w Ampeg tranny head. I bought it new and it has been cased since then. I still have receipts and tags. It has hardly been used in the last 3 years as I bought a tiny car so have been using a small B200R combo instead. It has been sitting in my room gathering dust, I have already moved on the 4x10 and 8x10 cabs so now it's time to go.

The cheapest I can see new is £525. The case was bought for £140 from Gothards so I am after a firm £400 for a quick sale.

Check the Ampeg site for full details but it truly is in mint condition and a proper bargain.

I took the plunge in December and bought the OBT and the SP212 cab. I couldn't be more pleased. It is almost plug and play, the sound is that good but you can of course tweak it to taste if you like. Can't wait to crank it up again on Saturday.

So I used the new Orange rig on Saturday night in a large concert room. I was really impressed with the performance of the Bass Terror. There is tons of headroon, I played at less than half the available volume. The sound is sweet and there was no buzz or rattles even when at volume. Even my Rickenbacker which is notoriously buzzy at times was kept quiet. As for being small and compact, absolutely. Shame I then had to help shift the rest of the bands gear too though. I am a happy camper! Andy

Hiya mate, dunno if you're interested but I sold a DBS7400 about 3 years ago and its still showing as available on the website I advertised it on (tried to get em to remove it many times to no avail) but as a result I often get mails from prospective buyers. I love the B200R but have been seduced by the size of the Orange. I will let you know after Saturday once I get chance to crank the Terror up a bit.

I would say though that the Terror is easier for me to get a great sound from in my opinion.

Trust me, they are very, very loud. Have only tried in th shop and at hoem though, it debuts on Sarurday night. I am hoping not to be disappointed....will letya know if I am

The sound is bloomin awesome plus it is light a a feather. No more back breaking lifts for me. Go on - treat yourself!

Yeah the LP is an old 70s Antoria. I completely renovated it recently with new hardware and EMGs. Agree, dunno why Gibson don't make them that pretty. 2x12 a it's the new 8x10 !!!

Ha - my band members are just shaking theit heads in a "I knew he wouldn't be able to resist" kind of way.

Just shortened the 30FT Speakon and it all works.

I went for the 2x12 purely cos I have a 19" 1U case with tuner and transceiver in it that has to fit on top of the cab and 2x10 was a bit narrower. It may have to go underneath the lot yet.

Been gassing for this for a while. Sold some no longer needed Ampeg gear and went to "try" the Bass Terror.................next thing - loading that and the SP212 cab in to the car. 15% off and pre VAT increase - was a no brainer. Blimey it is lovely. Loud as can be, tiny and relatively simple sound variant options which suits me perfectly.

It still amazes me though that when you buy nearly a grands worth of kit, the retailers still dont automatically include a cable. The guy who sold me it was great though, when I questioned it - he agreed to let me have the one I'd used in demo (even though it's a 30 footer!)

Out with the soldering iron this aft then to shorten it.

I have gone from the ridiculous to the sublime over the last 3 years. Was Ampeg 8x10 and SVT 450 back breakers to Orange 2x12 which can easily be carried in one hand. Must be getting old.

Watch out for flightcased Ampeg SVT 450H and Ampeg B200R both owned from new by me with receipts and cases up for sale shortly

I bought this recently from EBay as it not only looked ace and wasn't expensive but when it arrived, it also played like a dream.

I have subsequently spent a few bob updating it with EMG pickups, a Hipshot Supertone bridge and replacement pickup surrounds, pickguard bracket, switch, jack socket, truss rod cover and speed knobs plus all screws as well as having the original machine heads re plated back to gold. I think it looks great now and have of course kept all the originals to swap back should a future sale be necessary.

Here's a few before and after pics. I hope you like it. It honestly plays really nicely and the condition is amazing considering its age. Will allow me to give the Rickenbacker a rest for a while whilst posing like a rock god!!! (and yes, it will be suitably low slung to aid posturing!)

I have played there and the sound is very nice. Can't comment on the quality of the dancefloor as I was on stage but people seemed happy enough. Considering the musice we play, perhaps the dacefloor is not quite as crucial an issue as for salsa dancing!

Watch out for a guy called Kenny who plays bass with Corinne Bailey Rae who is often playing there (they have bands on both upstairs and downstairs at the same time), you may already know him but he is freakin fantastic.

If you havent tried one, these are fantastic and undoubtedly the best cabs I have ever used. The sound is awesome and they are remerkably portable with the tip back wheels. Great price too. Go on, someone deserves this.....Andy

Hiya, no its a later one. It looks gorgeous but doesnt play especially well. I generally play the Ricky but have just bought a 70's Les paul Bass Copy which plays ace so will get some play once I have finished setting it up

For what it's worth, I use the Freeport Guitar system withe an almost identical receiver. I use double sided Velcro to hold it in my rack and it works a treat, solid as a rock Great price these though
