  3. years ago whilst working in an ice factory my workmate shut a lorry tail lift with my finger in it! it broke my right hand middle finger crushing it and ripped the nail out couldnt play for months and i never got full feeling back in my finger but least ive still got it

  5. i have a godin bg4 bought it on ebay.com got it shipped over from america a few years back i dont really use it but its actually a really nice bass
  6. I reckon some korean basses will enjoy cult status like the japanese basses did At first japanese guitars were viewed as cheap copies till they honed there craft and produced some brilliant instruments Kinda like when they copied british motorbikes and then improved upon there copies then took over the market So i for me korean instruments then i dare say chinese instruments will be the next after that some getting rave reviews already the squiers and farida instruments
  7. Whereabouts you based? Looks very nice
  8. i do believe alot of the bass amps us bass players could buy back in the day where just adapted pa amps no effects no gain basically a very basic amp combined alot of the time with an inadequate speaker i for one am glad of the choice we have nowadays
  9. i would like to play man in the cornershop by the jam but as im not in a band cant see it happening
  10. ok i could be wrong but i dont remember a worst amp thread so im putting this out there to help people from buying a bass behemoth of the worst order! mine was a custom sound trucker just very very dull also my worst through aggravation was a session sessionette bass 100 dont get me wrong i loved it when it worked but it started cutting out nobody could fix it (its your mosfets mate!)but they still charged anyhow! till i gave up and parted it out. a lesson learnt i bought a trace elliot aH300SMX head in 1990 something have never looked back stories pls do tell?

  16. I have an ibanez rd500 with duncan ibanez pickups and i have to say i was really impressed with it when i bought it, i think for me its a keeper I previously owned a musicman sub and i can say i prefer the ibanez i didnt think the signal of the single coil would be much cop compared to the humbucker but its very versatile bass and the output from it is very very punchy and it is perfectly quiet noise wise from the electrics for what i paid which was about £125 i wouldnt hesitate to buy one,im keeping an eye out for an rd900
  17. i think we all go through this, i left the last band i was in over 10 yrs ago,we used to do alot of gigs and it became a chore the singer was an ego maniac and it put me off bands and playing bass for a while. i thought i might join another band and did a couple of auditions but the last audition i did the guitarist/singer insisted on doing the eq on my amp because he wanted a specific kinda sound?suffice to say that didnt work out. i think part of the beauty of playing bass or any instrument is the fact you can leave it and then come back to it anytime you feel the urge when i started playing i thought to myself that i was in no way a natural and in fact i was pretty awful but at the back of my mind i thought well ive got a lifetime to nail it i play most days and have now got into fretless to keep myself amused and if a band comes around that works i wouldnt hesitate to do it!

  20. my Cheeky bass is a Cheri bass made in korea with one of the nicest necks ive played, nice fit and finish very easy to play and is fitted with a rather rough looking dimarzio i found misadvertised on ebay i think the whole thing bass & pickup cost £60 max
  21. I was playing my precision through headphones earlier and there was alot of earth noise? i tried another passive bass and was beginning to think the zoom had developed a fault, then i plugged in the bass i first used with it when i got it, an ibanez rd500 which is active and noise was gone!
  22. didnt think they would charge that much!!!!!!!
  23. i think this is a reissue of the black n gold I, ive got an original i think its an 85 great bass from what i know cliff used an sb1000 but wasnt keen on the active electronics from all accounts on his last tour he took three black n golds on that tour lars kept the one from the tour bus when he died, one was in a hard rock cafe i think and his family had the other his sb1000 was said to have gone back to aria and was on ebay america a while back, this is all from what i have read on the net but on garage days revisited jason newstead is pictured with an aria sb black n gold on the rear cover and there is a pic of the one in hard rock cafe on the net so that would account for two of them anyhow great basses and i dread to think what they will charge
  24. Was it Joni dankworth & Cleo laine i remember that combo dont think he played bass mind!
