1. I can recommend them - I built a Phase 90 kit from them about a year ago.
2. I like the Pearl Octave from the 80s - it does two octaves down and one up. Also, the T-Rex Octavius looks very nice but i haven't tried one personally: http://t-rex-effects.com/products-1/octavius-1-2-3-4.aspx?VariantID=
3. Did you try the 'shoes off' routine...?
4. Do you have another floor you could try it on - generally domestic wiring is done with a ring main for each floor so the problem may just be on one of your rings *EDIT* - please take little care if the shocks are getting worse, we don't want any charred bass players.
5. Thanks for the info - very tempting...
6. A quick 'one of these sold on Ebay last week for £150' bump...
7.
Oh dear... I just tried the static theory by earthing myself on the radiator whilst touching the bridge, control plate and strings... It's SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. Nothing from anywhere but the bridge which has a small pop... I am Static Man! Wow. Thanks for you help guys and congrats to Bod2 for getting it. Now just to figure out how I can earth myself!
That may not be static - when you touch the radiator you are earthing through the house so I would expect the buzz to subside. Have you tried another mains lead and/or extension board on the amp...?
8. Different compressors act completely differently depending on the input signal so my favourite compressor may not be yours. Good luck.
9. There's no 'best' compressor - they all do different things depending on your input/sound/pick attack/finger attack etc etc... What are you wanting from a compressor...neutral sound, phatness, control of peaks...?
10.
I've returned the Beta for refund and actually may start looking at other mics instead of Shure....EV/Rode/Sennheiser maybe.
Do be aware that there are other manufacturers who are also getting cloned now - Sennheiser is definitely one of them... I recently bought a (genuine) Sennheiser E835 and it is great value for the £40-odd I paid for mine second hand. Is it for live or studio use...?
11. TTT I'm also interested in a high quality compressor in trade for this guitar...WHY...?
12.
...ordered myself a set on ebay from america (cheaper than buying from UK!)
...until the VAT and taxman possibly get involved when they arrive here...
13. The Gotoh 201 is a direct Fender replacement bridge IIRC. If you want to splash out on the Badass you want the Badass II.
14. Sorry to hear that. Just for reference, I dug out my old late 1970s dual-impedance SM58 (not BETA) and it weighs 295g, Also it's worth noting that that the Shure website lists the current SM58 as weighing 298g but the SM58 BETA weighs 278g.
15. Did you check the links I listed...? There are many better ways to check if your Shure is real...
16. These may be helpful: http://homerecording.about.com/od/microphones101/a/Fake_Shure_Mics.htm http://reviews.ebay.com.au/Fake-Shure-Beta58-Microphones-How-to-spot-them_W0QQugidZ10000000006603964
17.
Offers?
I've got a nice crisp tenner here says it's mine...
18. Any more news on this compressor Gareth...? Did you order it direct from the USA...? Cheers
19.
.....I'll post some more if your interested!
Yes please...
20.
Wal's have a low impedance di built in......do I still need a box (I use the ordinary jack currently - never even thought about it )
You will get a benefit but only if you use an XLR - XLR lead and plug into a mixer of some kind.
21.
Would prefer payment by cheque to avoid PayPal fees.
There are no fees if the buyer marks the payment as a 'gift'.
22. Hmmm - I'm in this 'which compressor is for me' place at the moment. I've spent ages reading Ovnilabs and other review sites and it just seems to get more complicated the more I read...! Yesterday, I had pretty much decided on the EBS multicomp, then I read about the Joe Meek FloorQ and the Aguilar TLC... I currently have a modded Boss CS3, a Joyo Dyna compressor (Dynacomp clone), a DOD Milkbox and a Boss LMB3 limiter in transit...lots of playing to do methinks. I reckon, if you have a few bob to throw around, you could do worse than buying two or three to try and move on the ones you don't like probably at no loss in money - that's the way I'm playing this game.
