1. I sent a PM on the same day as the post was made and I've heard nowt The OP hasn't responded here since the post was...er...posted...
  2. Some of the Overwaters stretch to a 38" scale Only recommended for the gibbons among us...
  3. A very generous offer I reckon - I used to use the RS66 stainless set for many years discreet - you have a PM.
  4. Im just borrowing it at the mo with a view to trade something for it. It's exactly like this one: http://www.westone.info/thunder3afretlessbass.html
  5.
Westones are beautiful and amazing to play! I would really like a Thunder IIa, the version with 2 precision style pups and the xlr output if anyone has one to sell...........
My second 'proper' bass was a Westone Thunder IIa - it followed an Ibanez Blazer P-bass... I will always regret selling that monster. I have just picked up a Thunder III fretless so happy days
  6. Can I join in - I've just acquired a Westone Thunder III fretless and I've been playing it for over two hours...I love fretless
  7.
It is insane that the new American Select Jazz Bass retails for around £1800 when you could buy a second hand vintage Fender for not much more!
I wouldn't buy the USA Fenders out of principle - the prices here are ridiculous.
  8. If it doesn't sell, let me know please.
  9. I like the RB40 Nickel Rotos - been using them without a problem for some years now.
  10. Had a Mr R.Plant in the audience at a gig in London once I also played a set in a covers/jam band with John Coghlan from the Quo on drums - no rehearsal I just flew it from the hip.

    Why?
Today I tried a compressor pedal. I'd have to tinker a lot more with the controls before I found a sound that I preferred to the straight through sound. Maybe at gig volume it'll be different.
I'm on the search for a compressor - keep in mind that there are many makes and types which react to your playing differently and sound different - it may take some hunting to find the one you like. As to effects in general, it's all about the sonic palette man...
  12. Apologies for digging up this old thread - is the Promethean P5110 tweeter adjustable or switchable...?
  13. An amp stand is an effective way to raise up a guitar amp and point it towards the guitarist's ears: http://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-stands/pid11315/cid584/quiklok-bs317-amp-stand.asp Suddenly, the guitarist will understand why you think it's too loud
  14.
What's wrong with contentious?
Nothing but it's getting tedious reading " they should be like this" "No, they should be like that". The OP asked for the best example...
  15.
Just so we're clear, here's the plan for dealing with this bloke:

OP lures him to a deserted warehouse
Politely informs him OP is "no longer in the band"
Chrismuzz slaps him with his cock
Spike kicks him in the nuts
Steve injects his bell-end with mercury
Ed S knocks him out
I shoot him in the face
Jake eats his liver
Followed by live music and disco till 1am. Cash bar, free parking. Tickets £10 in advance (£12 on the door) .
Who's selling the tickets...?
  16.
Trouble is, even different versions of the Fender Jazz differ quite substantially, so you need to narrow down your benchmark, as a modern Standard US Fender is probably quite different in sound (it certainly is in spec) to a 62 re-issue.
Mmmmmmmm - the 62 reissue, the finest Jazz bass I have ever played is my Fender Jap 62 reissue. I would recommend it to anyone. Fantastic fast neck, punchy pickups and more comfort than you could find in Anna Nicole Smith's cleavage I think defining the Jazz will always be contentious so let's discuss our favourites and why...
  17.
Tru dat, and the other word which springs to mind is HUBRIS.
Great word - I don't think I've ever used it in conversation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubris
  18.
I've come across similar (but not as bad) with church bands I've been involved with. They seem to attract meglomaniac n**heads.
That's what church is all about ain't it...megalomania... I would have quit same as you.
  19. Ah OK then - only when you know you have a true Standby switch
  20. As I understand it, yes
  21.
I believe that's a definite No-No.
As I understand it - no harm will occur to a valve amp as long as the Standby is OFF. *EDIT* - for clarity, I mean switched to no output.
  22. I have a 60s Framus 5-string which is in my repair shop for some TLC (been there for a couple of years ) - this thread will encourage me to get it fixed up.
