  1. I wouldn’t want to run lower than 4ohms, which is probably the internal load of the combo’s own speakers. For expansion options I would find another SWR head (Bass 350, or any of the Workingmans series) and drive that from the preamp of the combo (patched into effects return).
  2. SWR used to say their amps would run down to 2 ohms, but (having used a lot of them over the years) I wouldn't recommend it. They run fairly hot anyway and going that low will only get them hotter quicker. The extra output will be marginal, but put more stress on the amp. Maybe look out for a cheap Workingman's head and use that as a power amp for an additional cab?
  3. Very concerning news…I hope there is good news soon 🤞🏻
  4. I’d suggest black plastic tapewounds as a good alternative for acoustics. GHS, Galli and a few others sell them. Check the scale length for fit on your bass. Thomastik flats are great but the B string is huge, and might not be a good idea on an acoustic style bridge.
  5. That is a lovely and very well designed bass 😎
  6. I think that particular (Beedster) neck is still on my bitser Jazz, but that does look similar 😎.
  7. Sorry to say I can't make it this year. Involved in running a Blooooze day in Bath. Have a great Bash!!
  8. Very sad…a proper legend 😕
  9. Great - I’d like to buy it. Bank transfer and post to Bristol ok? cheers Duncan
  10. Oh, the temptation 😅😂. Perfect for those Christmas shows 🎅🏻👀
  11. Thanks…I’m not far away 😎. This would be so inappropriate for a lot of my gigs…makes it even more tempting 😂🤷🏻‍♂️
  12. Keep looking at this one…very tempted 🤔
  13. ..and a lovely amp it is too. My first SWR from the Fender years…but they didn’t change a lot. 😎
  14. Oohh, that means you’re driving straight past me..🤔
  15. The lack of high pass on SWR’s is something to be aware of. My Redhead will make the speakers jump around at fairly low volume, especially with a lot of low end eq boost. The Stereo 800 in bridge mode would easily do the same with a Goliath 4x10. Just don’t overdo the low end, keep the volume sensible. Great amps. I really wish I’d remembered this one when I accidentally drove past Newbury yesterday 😳
  16. Yes, most likely…but not always. If any chipped areas (on the back?) don’t show stain, then it’s probably in the finish, between clear coats. I’m obviously thinking about a less coloured re-finish 😜🤔 Seriously tempted….and in Bristol 😎
  17. Any idea if the wood is stained, or if the colour is in the finish?
  18. Looks like a Reflex…late 80’s active pickup system?
  19. So sad to hear this news…lovely chap. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
  20. Pre CBS wood...wow, that's a new one!
  21. I still have one - it’s a great amp 😎. The secret to lumping it about is two people…that was really how it was intended. The wheels help a lot, but for lifting, the size makes it hard work. For two people, it’s no hassle
