1. I tried this bass briefly after a gig last year - and it persuaded me to invest in an old German bass, something I'd been avoiding for years. Its that good. Took about three notes.

Any of the EA 2x10 cabs would be a very good match to requirements, but they are heavy and in the boutique category. Sound wonderful..as long as you really like your bass sound naked, with little seasoning. I would dare to suggest the Ashdown Retrogilde 800 with an EA 2x10 would be quite the thing.....
3. Depends on fit and what sort of conditions it will be travelling. Warwick rack bags are crap..just avoid. I've got a Gator 2U one which is pretty good, but its only done car travel/light use. SKB plastic rack cases always seem very pricey and aren't that durable, but could do the job fine if you are always shifting it, and its not bounced around or chucked too much. The one you linked to looks ok to me, but don't expect it to be very tough.
4. Yes, of course...
5. SWR Baby Blue or Electric Blue (head). Lovely stuff. Phil Jones CUB..but the one I owned had a bit of electrical fizz in the background (probably fixed a long time ago...but be aware).
6. That should be fun...always enjoyed his fretless playing. I guess he plays the W'Wick acoustic these days.
7. I've ended up (long story) with a TKS S112 - very similar to the G2 Midget, but with rear porting (!) and a less aggressive voicing in the mid range. Early days...but I'm very happy so far.
8. I recently sold my G2 Midget, so would be very interested to hear what people think of the new version. I really like the G2 but found its middle emphasis hard to deal with (SWR amps don't help) esp. with double bass.
9. One more Bump...looks like I'll keep it...
10. Think I listed this way too cheap, will probably just enjoy playing it (Gallery has a fiver going for £1500) Last Bump...
11. If you need small and great sound the Crazy 8 from Tricky Audio is a very good option, although it won't do very loud.
12. I've got an old Levy's canvas double bag - not much bigger than the single version and works fine. But if both basses are a bit heavy it can be a bit much on the shoulders, so I just carry it in one hand. The only thing I'd add to previous comments is the extra weight makes it more important to buy a good quality version - straps and stiching all get a bit more strain, and the padding needs to be decent with more weight in the bag.
13. Bump - another possible trade, early Warwick Streamer....
14. Possibly - very few DI's have two inputs, yet alone any means of adjusting levels. It might be simpler for you to run two signals out of two DI's and balance them up elsewhere. Also, your Engineer may be happier with two separate feeds...or he might be a grumpy sod who thinks you're just making his life more complicated...
15. There are some new cheaper Radials as well as the JDI - the passive Stage Bug looks like a good cost effective one and is pretty compact. The simple passive Pro DI is great ( I recently saw a lot of them at a very high end recording studio). Edit - it may be easier to use two small passive boxes, and send two lines, rather than trying to get two inputs to balance front of house.
16. Another method is take the screw out...put a little superglue on, then let it dry for an hour before replacing it. Often this is enough to stop it undoing over time..but without glueing it in place.
17. That made my brain hurt. I've never had noise issues with any Sansamp stuff, and find it very reliable and musical (as long as you don't use extreme eq..and have the magic blend knob). The VT Deluxe has no Blend? Look at the Fender amp version as well. One thing that does it all for me - Alembic F2B into a good passive DI. Ok, that's two things really...but look out for one. And an SWR Interstellar Overdrive thing. That would make you happy.
18. I used Innovation Rockabillys for ages on my Clifton - helped make a softer acoustic type sound. I'm using Spiros now, so it plays more like my acoustic bass...but the sound is more "string" and less bass. One day I'll put Evah P's on, as I think they are the best compromise string I've found.
19. The Crazy 8 is a great little cab, that provides real low end, not just lots of mid to make it seem loud. Its an American GreenBoy design, but Tricky Audio make it here in the UK. I had one without the tweeter and didn't miss it.
20.
Is there any issue with the truss rod? Will it cause the crack to open if the rod is adjusted? Cheers
Well, there is no way of knowing really. These basses have a very thin laminate fingerboard. When I noticed it I took some tension off the rod, and it went down, leaving a small crack..but has since been perfectly stable for two years or so. I've had no reason to adjust it, as it plays perfectly well. The luthier has had a good look at it, re-bonded the area where the small crack was and is confident there would be no further problems. I'm aware the crack could return if the rod was tightened up, but there is no reason to do this. The relief is set perfectly for me...virtually straight, with just enough clearance for the strings to sound. The current strings are 45-105 black plastic flats and medium tension. If these were changed for heavy duty LaBella flats and the rod was cranked tight..who knows!
21. I could be tempted by a very nice Pbass as a trade...but it would have to be utterly wonderful, and probably maple necked...
22. This lovely bass has now had a full check up, re-string and set up - now wearing D'Addario black plastic flats, and the small fingerboard crack is repaired and invisible. Sounds fantastic, but still needs to go Price raised to cover recent work and new strings - £875 collected (Bristol /Bath area)
23. Don't think you can run these at 2 ohms....safe down to 4ohms, but check the manual maybe? I'm pretty sure I've got the manual somewhere if it helps, or it may still be up on the old SWR site, under vintage products. Edit - looks like it will do 2 ohms, but not in bridge mode..then its 4 ohm min.
24. One more thing - the other side of the bridge is often flatter then the top, so do consider trying that as it may sound better.
25. Still a great place to sell and find good stuff...but I guess it just responds to the climate. People seem to be asking more for things, and less prepared to trade or haggle....but anything old Fender or Ampeg still shifts. People are trying to get their money back wherever possible, and only want to invest again in stuff that will hold its value...along with a growing community with more "traders". Use the feedback - especially if you're had a problem.
