  1. Please stop it. Now.
  2. [attachment=190244:IMG_1224.jpg] One more I forgot to include...those are reflections, not relicing. Overall the bass is in excellent condition, just a few minor markings on the edges from use.
  3. [attachment=190243:IMG_1221.jpg] Best photo I could get of where the crack is...
  4. **NOW TRADED**[attachment=190237:IMG_1219.jpg][attachment=190239:IMG_1223.jpg Fantastic bass - very light, with a wonderful acoustic character to the sound. Has a walnut back and sides, solid centre block and cedar (or maybe spruce?) top. DTAR undersaddle pickup and 18v preamp with passive tone roll off and volume. Rosewood fingerboard with inlaid fret markers and currently strung with Thomastik flats. The maple bolt on neck is carved very slim, much like a Jazz bass. Has a definite neck dive from the hollow body but this is made a lot easier by the strap holder extension, combined with the overall weight and the relatively wide body size. I'm quite fussy about balance and it has never bothered me. Has one issue, otherwise I would be asking a bit more. About a year after getting the bass I noticed a small hump/crack towards the top of the fingerboard - this went down when I took some tension off the truss rod and has remained the same for the last two years or so. There is a crack in one dot position marker and you can just see where the wood cracked (this bass has a very thin laminate type fingerboard). I was going to get it looked at and tidied up by a luthier, but never got around to it. I may still get it looked at and set up with some different strings, but that will increase the price. I have two blank bridge saddles (carbon fibre) from Rick Turner so that different strings can be set up. Comes in the Levy's bag shown - its a bit bigger than most so fits the bass well. Collection only from Bristol/Bath area...any questions..ask away..
  5. Real shame - I would buy a TC, but I've read too many breakdown stories about them. Amps need to be reliable.
  6. And back on topic...try an 8x8"...I never heard the SWR one, but people have told me they were great?
  7. I want powered cabs, big ones, small ones.....so that old rack mount preamps can have nice new homes. A Barefaced powered version of the SWR Redhead format would get me quite excited.
  8. EMG's (any flavour except passive) or DiMarzio Model J.
  9. ..still waiting..bump..
  10. SOLD******Had this listed in "other musical" for a while, so thought it would also be worth listing here, as it is really a studio quality preamp. Seems to rank as the industry standard active DI for (posh) stage or studio. Could also be used as the front end of a high end amp system, as most of the passive eq presets are useful for bass instruments. As new condition with all original packaging - could be posted, but I much prefer cash/collection from the Bristol /Bath area - please PM any questions [attachment=189177:IMG_1135.jpg]
  11. It wouldn't bother me...string height is dependant on many things, particularly the type /make/tension of the strings. Its a good idea to have a new bridge fitted with adjusters anyway, as this makes string experiments a lot easier, and its good to know the bridge has been properly matched to the top. I'm in the process of upgrading from my hybrid Zeller and to be honest, they sound very very good for what they cost. And they travel well.
  12. Bump...possibly sold locally, but waiting to hear back....
  13. I did get to try the Midget/Compact pairing a few weeks ago. Very impressive, but I really would never need that sort of capability. You could hear they were voiced to compliment each other, and using a stereo power amp lets you balance them to taste. Tone tweek heaven
  14. Had a few nibbles...one potential buyer....
  15. Keep the bass on its back and put some weight over the soundpost area, usually works but it all depends how tight a fit it is..and the weather..
  16. Another bump for a bit of bass history...that you can still use. This really hasn't got "a sound" unless you engage the slapswitch...then its 1985 all over again.
  17. No idea - but try changing the valve as a first step, or at least check it isn't loose after transit.
  18. One more Midget bump...
  19. Think of this as one of the best studio grade valve preamps ever made...with a handy 150 power amp built in for added convenience, for those coffee bar gigs where you really want to sound your best. And a free road case.
  20. 113 views....bump..
  21. Bump the Midget...might have local sale..but nothing agreed yet....
  22. Bit of bass nostalgia, but still sounds great. This is a rack-mount GP11 preamp, MkIV from the early-mid 80's. Has the XLR input and metal switches rather than later push buttons. This one came from John Henry's and has the old Bass Centre sticker on the back. Good condition with some chips/scratches to the case work - I think the master volume pot has been changed as it doesn't have clicks, and the two big knobs are modern replacements. The case is 2U but the spacing of the mounting holes means it fits into three standard spaces, unless the screws are moveable. Not sure why, as I think it was built as a rack unit rather than taken out of a combo etc. Comes in a 3U basic rack case (Flightcase Warehouse) - used but serviceable. Collection form Bristol/Bath area please, and I will add some more detailed photos if anyone is interested - always happy to answer questions. [attachment=187744:IMG_0967.JPG]
