I'll second, or +1 as it seems to be these days, the topic's 'motion' as motion does seem to follow GAS.. But anyway; I too had the experience of a reply from PJ even though my query was really trivial.

My first port of call for any audio gear, not just because of the prices, mainly because the customer service is so very good.

"NAD was an abbreviation for New Acoustic Dimension." How it that obvious? I had to look it up (thanks wikipedia) and I've owned a NAD amplifier for over 30 years! -

I bought a g3 one from the site about 3 months ago, just as you have experienced, after a week got an email from Alex and had a decent conversation about suitability art what I wanted out of the cab, went and collected it 4 weeks later and saw the setup; three guys working their @rses off :-) I wouldn't worry, but unfortunately it's not like buying from a shop...
That only applies in the first 4 weeks.
I thought it was distance selling had the clear 4 week limit for returns without any reason needing to be given. I've turned up this regarding faulty goods and 'accepting' goods but I can't see any clearly defined time limit (other than 'it depends', which is not very useful!) http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/consumer_w/consumer_common_problems_with_products_e/faulty_goods_e.htm http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/consumer_w/consumer_common_problems_with_products_e/faulty_goods_e/whats_meant_by_accepting_the_goods.htm Although admittedly to me it's all a can of legalese so I'll take my oar out :-)

I think that you should be able to go back to the shop you bought the item from and get a refund on the basis it is clearly not fit for purpose. It's come up before - the contract is between seller and purchaser, not manufacturer and end-user.
Get your mains sockets checked as a priority! If in any doubt consult a qualified electrician
+1 and that's a big one too! sounds like some kind of earth fault to me too. As suggested get a socket tester, worth getting yourself a plug RCD too and only plug your gear in via that no matter where you are.

Here's a couple of similar questions regarding other makes. It seems to me that there isn't room on the 3 peg side of a 5 string with 2/3 headstock. Get a lefty and string it upside down or would that cause more problems than it solves ;-) http://www.talkbass.com/threads/hipshot-extender-on-a-5r-e-string.641664/ https://www.dingwallguitars.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=23556&sid=97763f521fe1a07768980734d923d57b
Fit & finish on the Euros is good but not as good as the US. Mostly tiny details really. Quality of final finish on the 2-3 Euros I've owned hasn't been as nice as the US ones. US versions seem to have more lustre to them and the tops have all been a lot nicer. My Euros generally looked a bit 'generic' with the sort of flamed maple you see quite regularly these days. The flame on the US models looks really deep and, especially on darker colours, almost has a 3D effect. I've found Euros to sound a little antiseptic & bland compared tot he US models. I used to use an NS5 as my regular gigging bass and wanted a lower cost option as a backup and bought a Euro. It seemed to lack the bottom end oomph that my US had and the top end was harsher and not as sweet as the US. I certainly don't see the US being worth twice the price of the Euro (which it tends to be on the used market) but, for me, it was appreciably better and I could afford the extra so I ended up with a pair of NS5's instead. I only sold them when I went back to 4's and found some other brands that I preferred in a 4 string to Spector (I still love the 5's & wouldn't hesitate to get one if I ever needed a 5 again though!).
Thanks. So my mistake probably mostly lies in thinking that 'maple' is always 'just' maple. Also there's a few US Spector's currently on Bass Direct and the advertised price is considerably below the list price plus none are std Euro spec. Thanks again, but now I have to decide on a colour for my US NS2 when I order it :-)
I've owned both Euro and US Spectors and always thought the US ones were significantly better than the Euros. Better finished, nicer woods and colours and had more punch to the core sound.
Like ubit, and as I've already posted, I too cannot understand what is better, let alone enough to justify the considerable uplift. I can understand that more exotic wood (tops?) can have a dramatic effect on price, but better coloured stains? Also with the Euro being IMO an excellent finish, is it possible to explain how the finish gets better? I hope any answer doesn't cause me to see the flaws in the Euro though! :-\

I haven't actually had the experience of playing one, but considering they are identical necks & pickups, and the body wings, bridge & tuning hardware is almost identical, I think you'd struggle to justify £100 extra. Also I found when surfing for an answer to the same question that there is no real difference in sound or playability. I think the US models are mainly for the home market.
The modular approach works for me.
+1 'combo' = 'active cab' no?
-
My (inexpert) opinion would be that the problem is to do with reflections coming off both wall and floor as having speakers positioned in corners is known to cause problems with bass frequencies. Maybe raising the cab up some may help.

Just one thing, I'm not sure that DIing to an active cab is going to have the correct output to input levels. I mention this as I'm currently using an active near field monitor as an experiment and DIed a rh750 and got very low volume so I've run the di into a mixer and then onto the monitor and everything is fine.
