1.
Am I seeing things, or are you using a neckplate for a shim?
Definitely seeing things
2. Excellent thanks Gary I may well take you up on that, I'm going to give it a go first today but if I don't get anywhere I will let you know, I'm sure it could do with a decent setup anyway after all of this. When are you free to have a look at it?
3. What about these? http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=281034618680#
4. Hopefully this is all I have to do as it is relatively simple, something I need with this is patience. Fingers crossed it doesn't get to having to start sanding things!
5.
You could well be right - definitely worth a try, shouldn't do any harm & you could save yourself a bill. Though as has been said many times on various threads; use cocktail sticks rather than matches. The wood is much harder & there'll be a hell of a lot of tension on those screws.
Thanks I will try and get some cocktail sticks soon, just tried with matchsticks and didn't really get anywhere so hopefully the cocktail sticks will be better!
6. No it's just where the top layer of finish has been scratched off at some point. But I had to go and check to be sure, definitely just surface
7. Here's a rubbish picture: It would appear the two top screws also the ones showing aren't actually doing anything as the neck came off with just unscrewing the bottom two slightly so I might need to fill the original holes with matchsticks and rescrew
8.
Another alternative is to either get the bridge routed and sunk into the body, or replace it with a lower profile bridge. I am having the same problem as you, but mine is a neck-through so I can't shim it.
Frustrating isn't it? What do you mean by a lower profile bridge something that's smaller? Its got a BA2 on at the moment. Have you got any ideas so I can look into it?
9. Thanks for all the replies, I will get a picture of the gap when I get home, but what I noticed is it is a tight fit when the strings are loose but as soon as I tighten them the gap appears..... I have emailed another luthier as well so hopefully I'll be getting some replies soon. I hope this is fixable and doesn't cost too much £££
10. Just spent all evening trying to get the string height on my bass where I would like it as it was too high and I have come away feeling frustrated that I haven't really got anywhere. The bass in question is my Fender Dirnt with a 78 telebass neck. The strings are too high even with the saddles right down. I tightened the truss rod a little as i read that lowers the strings and still no joy so I tried a shim but even with that its not great. The neck has a small gap between the back of the neck and the pocket which is about 2mm I can see the screws anyway so I don't know if that is an issue or just because of the older neck. I've emailed a luthier in Milton Keynes so hopefully a proper set up will get it to what I want. Just frustrated that I haven't seemed to of got anywhere with it myself.
11. 78 Fender Telecaster Bass neck that I got from Ash added to my Nitro Dirnt Plays so well now and looks really cool
12. Bought a Fender Tele Bass neck off Ash and what a neck it is too! Ash was really good throughout good comms and really good packaging. No issues at all! Thanks again! Mark
13. I sold my GB Shuttle 9 to Greg today and had no issues at all, great comms throughout and I hope the amp does you well! Thanks!
14. Alright just a quick question, what is the value of a 1 year old really good condition Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 with its case? I hope I'm allowed to ask if not then delete this
