1. Sold!

    Hi everyone,

I am selling my Trace Elliot V6 after upgrading to a lightweight set up. I have loved this amp and have had it about 4-5 years.

It was serviced and re-valved completely with Sovtek kt88s in September-October time - I cant recall what make the pre amp valves are but I can have a look back in emails if needed to jog my memory!

It also had some extra work carried out on it after it developed a fault previously, here is a copy from an email from the tech who repaired it :

"When I looked at the amp it was blowing the mains fuse which was caused by a short circuit diode on the output transformer and also faults in a couple of valves. I imagine a similar fault (say on of the other diodes on the output transformer) could also blow the HT fuse but then almost anything in the amp could cause this as well. The amp also had a problem of instability (ie going into oscillation) in the output stage which on the advise of EMS (the main service people for Trace Elliot) I carried out a modification which involved installing resistors in series with the output valve cathodes. This seemed to cure the problem."

The other night at a gig the amp blew another HT fuse so I contacted the tech again, hence the part where he says 'I imagine a similar fault....' to find out what was going on which he replied he can only assume it is a similar fault as before.

I hope someone on here will know an easy solution so it can be fixed up and ready to go again. As when this amp has been running well it has an immense tone as I am sure some people would know.

    I am looking for [s]£525 [/s] [s] £450[/s] £400 for her!

To confirm this DOES have some faults with it as stated above so the buyer needs to be aware of this.

Also as this is very heavy, collection would be preferred as I would feel uncomfortable sending it and the valves being damaged! Also am happy to drive halfway or meet up somewhere!

    Thanks!

Ohh!!! This is going to be my next rig, it looks awesome! Too bad i can't hear it, if it's possible could you do a small review of that rig,... please!!!

    Happy birthday!

Thanks! I will do mate, I'll probably keep updating in this post save starting a new one. I can already say the S12 is immense it is by far the best cab I have played with really nice rounded sound but does have good response all over, even the lows, which I have heard a few people say to me that apparently Barefaced lack in lows in comparison to others, but I can say there's enough lows coming from this bad boy even with the eq flat!

Also it is really light as is the Shuttle 9.0 so Lozz my back is cheering at having a lightweight rig!

  3. Hello mate,

As already said the Swan is probably best for the rock scene and shoot pool is pretty good although Ska goes down well the best according to the owners.

In terms of rehearsal spaces check out West Star Studios in High Wycombe, really nice people and have a decent amount of rooms with amps/cabs in each room - they also serve food/drinks!

  4. Since getting my lightweight super 12 I have been thinking going lightweight with the amp head as well and had looked into the Genz Benz Shuttle range.

Today as a birthday present I took me and the misses up to Bass Direct and there was a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0, Mark demoed it for a bit then let me rip on it and I came away with it, the last one in the store apparently.

The service from Mark was excellent and he even lugged in the case for the amp as a birthday present!

Had a little play with it so far at home with my S12 and it is quality! Really nice vintage tone - to my ears - and I love that I can add a bit of gain and get the valve going!

    So here we are :

Is is definitely distortion, could it be a mechanical rattle? Something in the cab, amp or even the room you are in might be just loose enough to rattle giving a buzzing sound. I have had that a few times.

Deffinately distortion, I've turned off everything electrical near it in case it was interferance as well but that didnt make a change.....

  6. As the title really, just plugged in my TE ah60012 and at very low volumes and low gain it sounds like my bass is distorted then as I turn the master up the actual bass tone comes through but you can still faintly hear this distorted sound.

I have set all eq to flat turned off compression etc and changed leads and speaker leads and no change.

Originally thought it was the cab but is the head.

    Any ideas would be great.

    Thanks

  7. Alright,

My V6 tonight died at the end of the first song of our gig, changed all the leads etc and just wouldn't turn on.

Looking at the ht fuse it has blown, it has only recently been serviced and revalved, I didn't notice until now that on the back of the amp it states two fuses:

    115v t10a and 230v t5a

Does the amp need both these in at the same time as in the ht fuse box does have two spaces but it has worked fine before with just one fuse in the slot closest to the front of the amp. I know this might seem a bit of a noob question.

    Thanks
