  1. Lighter fluid apparently. Not a joke. Haven't tried it myself but if yoi research enough you'll find people talking about it, I think they call it something else in the States... Naphtha?

I've restored a good few Warwicks. Lots of careful sanding and wire wool and you can get them looking like new.

  2. Still going strong!

Really enjoying the GK 800 at the moment and one of the V4 Ampeg captures. Found the GK800 broke up nicely and running a compressor before icontrolled the low end so the low b didn't break up more than the other strings.

What I find strange (or maybe it's from listening on headphones at the moment) is that the Ampeg captures seem really, really bright. I downloaded some of the neural dsp presets with the aguilar captures and found those were all hyped with additional eq and compressors pushing the captures to break up. Sounds cool but again find them really, really bright.

That being said I listened back to a gig that was recorded and the bass didn't sound bright at all, infact it sounded warm but my memory of the bass in my in ears was that it was bright!

I'm looking forward to capturing my hartke rig in the new year as that is my favourite set up, live in hope they add a Hartke cab to the cabs as I find the the virtual mic positioning and options really useful in shaping the sound.

  3. I think it's fine. I think for now I'm going to safely bundle up the excess cable from thr power supply and mount in on a heavy duty 1 gang extension on my board and perhaps by a spare power supply!

  4. Ah I would love a HA series amp too!

Did another session again this weekend, again the amp and cab delivered. I had. Quad Cortex running into the front end of the amp so I could still use the LH eq section and it sounded bloody great, though it was prob overkill. Looking forward to having some time in the new year to actually do some Hartke captures for live use and to be able to set yo the Quad Cortex for live use with my Hartke rig.

I worried about the power supply as well. I stood on mine as well!  I haven't noticed any wiggle in mine, just went and checked and it's in there pretty tight. Do you get any interference with the power supply? I ended up sticking it on a pedal board with the CIOKS power supply.

I've tried the supply into a few other pedals and the wiggle is the same! The power jack goes into the QC and does the click in so I think its fine. The unit hasn't powered down yet anyway!

It's one of those things you don't think about until after it happens! Worse comes to worse im sure its repairable.

Went down a rabbit hole looking for a replacement power supply. The Cioks is nice but expensive and I only need power for the QC. Considering a Globtek power supply l.

  6. Update, took the QC to it's first session. I was using my hartke rig as it was a live situation.

Was really impressed how natural it sounded plugged directly into the LH1000. I've in the past always found putting preamps into the front of amps odd sounding, like super imposing one sound on top of another. Really quick to edit levels to balance things out and really enjoyed the tuner... which is probably the nerdiest thing I've ever said.

Annoyingly towards the end of the session a videographer accidentally stood on the power input jack, luckily a quick kick from me in the back of his ankle and he moved his foot. I thought he had destroyed the input jack but thankfully it seems to still be working on powering up. There is a little wiggle room witht the power connected , is this normal on other peoples QC's?

I've looked at my other pedals and they seem to also wiggle a bit when you move the power input jack so I'm thinking this is normal! Just a worry when you've spent a whole posh of cash on something like this! Firmly putting it on a pedal board from now on!

  7. Just got the Quad Cortex and I'm blown away by the captures. Found some very nice aguilar, alembic and audio kitchen ones. Can't get over how real they feel!

Looking forward doing some of my own captures of my hartke rig!

  8. Yup, got my Quad Cortex yesterday. My first ever multifx for bass I've owned. Spent half an hour with it and just tried a handful or amps and effects but very impressed! This is going to make my life a whole lot easier and also I found it a cool creative tool to give me some inspiration!

What impressed me the most was being able to easily use it without a computer or user interface. It seemed very sensibly laid out for somebody that usually uses analogue gear!

What I am confused about is the gear that should be on it, I'm hoping an update will solve my query but I seem to have some things that aren't listed anywhere I'm the Neural list and some things are listed but i can't find on the unit!

Looking forward to capturing my hartke rig at some point for live shows where I am using the full rig and able to give a cleaner, consistent representation to FOH.

For now I have a lot of learning and reading to do to figure out the best way to use it live!

  9. Just got back from a session at Rockfield studios. The first time I've used the amp for a session that's in a studio and not at my desk with a DI box and my interface.

Absolutely love the recorded tone. Pure, clear, deep and warm but with just enough presence to cut through. Just had a D112 pointed at the edge of the cone. Sat at the desk and dropped out the DI to just hear the amp by itself.

Couldn't be more happier. I think they've really nailed the lightweight 4x10 with the HL410!

  10. Investigate the Hartke HL410 1000 watt cab. It's what I run with my LH1000. Well made, really very light and I think it sounds very good. Two sealed 2x10s essentially with a tweater, which I don't find the need to use.

Ok, so it's not an 8ohm cab but I think running the amps in bridged mode gets you 750 Watts or around that (can't actually remember the exact figure).

I run mine in bridged and on big festival stages I'm getting up to about 11 o'clock on the master volume.

  11. Yeah, it really is an amazing pre. Soundguys have loved it. I lugged this around Glastonbury for 7 or 8 shows and it worked flawlessly, especially when the backline was not great or to my taste shall we say!

I'd love to keep it for studio use but want to go the way of the Quad Cortex. Since doing gigs that involve flights and crazy festivals having something like that just makes life easier and also I cam capture my Hartke rig which makes sense for me to do as an endorsing artist as everyone knows your rig doesn't always get mic'd up!

  12. Very reluctantly putting this amazing rack preamp up for sale. Such a versatile tool.

It's in excellent condition and I have done the the little mod to combine the channels within  the unit. Comes with the box and manual etc.

    Sounds absolutely amazing.
