And a bad back!! Or are you now bringing a fork lift truck to gigs :-)
No I have a LittleMarkll as well. Regarding preamps for the IP,I've only used the LM or the DB750 as a pre for it. I think you need to try a few preamps to get the one that really suits but actually they all sound great. I have a HS210 cab which when paired with the 112 sounds huge. One of the main reasons for making this decision is that I can still pair the MarkBass head with my Epi212 cab or the HS210 so I really REALLY dont need all this gear! Off to the Gym now so that I can move my DB750 into the living room later on! I'll post some pics then.

Hi Homer First off the bass plays as well as any bass I've owned! I just weighed it at 8lbs on my scales and after weighing myself at the same time they clearly overread With the current Audere/Nordy setup it is more modern sounding than the typical Bart/Bart Roscoe but as a result it has a great slap tone as well as fingerstyle. The front pickup alone sounds amazingly like a real P bass. I'll sell it with the Bart pickups included if you want a darker but really fat tone. I've just been playing it and I'm genuinely looking for a reason to keep it BUT I have a Nordy in the pipeline and I relly want a nice fretless so I just can't keep this and the FBass. Truth is I think many people would keep the Roscoe over my FBass but I have grown attached to it as you know. They are both superb basses IMO.

Selling Roscoe 5 String fretted bass previously owned by Mark at BassDirect. Great looking/sounding bass and a nice comfy weight just under 9lbs. I really want a Roscoe but a fretless one so I need to sell this one to fund it, I would have this one defretted but have been advised not to and I don't want to spoil this great bass. It has Nordstrand Big Singles and Audere pre. (Still have the Bart pickups too) For Sale......UK£1200.00 inc.case (or possibly consider a trade for a fretless up to similar value.) Milton Keynes area.

Hi Chris I would never call the Bergs 'lite' on anything but my Epi410UL was a very deep cab. The IP112 is a very deep little cab too and a great match with the Berg 210, very full sounding and never bass lite. I haven't gigged the 212NYC or the Bergs but I would try them all if at all possible before making a decision. As I said in my OP they appear to vary in sound quite a bit with different basses and amps. If you are anywhere near Coventry you should call Mark at BassDirect, he will let you try different cabs until your head explodes!

I was the lucky sod who eventually could resist jockes reducing prices no longer and this week received his Berg IP112. I've had a few goes on it and very much like what I hear. I used my LittleMark II as a pre and then decided to try the Aguilar DB750 pre as well. On its own it is very impressive as a 112 cab but pairing it with a Berg HS210 cab made a huge difference as might be expected. The Berg cabs are very transparent and punchy and the whole rig has a fantastic portability to oomff ratio, especially if you are using a small pre like the summit for example. I played my eighties Precision through it and it sounded very full with both the MB and Aggie pre - very nice. The FBass also sounded great - better than the Markbass/Berg mini stack rig (without the IP) IMO. I then brought out my recently returned Epi 212 NYC (Cheers Homie!)and played it with the Markbass and the Aguilar heads. What a cab!! F'ing heavy ....but...Quite a revelation I must say because with the LMII it sounds absolutely fantastic using the FBass - there's not enough difference in tone between it and the Aggie to justify the weight/price using this combination although the DB750/Epi212 combination is really crushing at volume. I was thinking of getting rid of the DB750 until I played the Precision through it and there's no comparison really - it kicks the LMII into touch with the precision -(both with Epi cab).Much fuller sound with the Aggie/Precision combo. So there we are! To sum up.........I love it all - amazing gear. The Epi212 NYC is a brute in every respect and I hardly gig at the moment so I look forward to using it in anger when I do. What is very clear is that you really need to match every part of your setup because it will definitely NOT sound the same using different heads/cabs/basses etc. I had been a bit underwhelmed by the MarkBass head with my FBass and Berg cabs but with the Epi 212 it is amazing! The Berg IP112 is a superb bit of kit and if you're looking for top of the range try the IP310 but you'd better be a damn clean player because it's the cleanest reproduction of your sound that you can get.

I bought a Berg IP112 from jocke and had it delivered from Sweden. No problems at all, it arrived well packed and in excellent condition - a bargain. Thanks Steve

Oh Dear........ I'm surprised to hear this really. I was expecting the amp to sound much more wooly than it does but to my ear it is actually quite defined as well as very full sounding. As for versatility I'm very happy with that too but I have basses which have quite versatile preamps and I can get a good variety of tones from the bass alone. I,ve only really played this through Bergantino and Epifani cabs and it sounds great through either, particularly clear with the Bergs to me. My only winges are the fan noise and the weight. If I were you I would definitely try the new Thunderfunk 750, I had the 550 a while ago and they really are nice amps.

Daf very kindly loaned me this bass for a few days and it is a great bass for anyone looking for a light, flexible sounding bass. The Aggie/Nordtrand electrics combination gives a wide variety of tones and although Daf has the action higher than I like it it is a very playable bass too. I had considered selling my Nordy and getting this plus a few quid but Birdy intervened and it didn't work out so this bass is still available and seriously worth a look. BTW Daf is a first rate bloke and a top bass player too. (My first time on a double bass today and I thought there was something wrong because I couldn't even make it sound like a bass! Daf made it sound like Stanley Clarke!!)

Just had a look for you. There is an extension but it is a curving one. It starts on the outside between the 22nd and 23rd fret and curves underneath to about the 23rd fret. So there is a possibility to chop off just over an inch or so. Great bass but my plans have changed so I'll be handing it back to Dav next week.
