The bass was built for Thomas Skarbee and he used it to make the samples on the link below - amazing stuff. It used to have a link telling all about the bass itself but I can't find it on his updated site. You're right about the Celinders though- they are all fantastic basses - the best IMHO. I'm not finding the Nordy any more noisy than my other basses but it does have the pickups which are meant to cut down the noise level I believe.

Sorry Joe but the Update 4 I sold to Crazikiwi has a Badass and Lindy Fralin pickups /Aguilar OBP1 pre and is frequently quoted as the best bass people have played. I bought it in preference to a newer Update that was in the Gallery at the same time. I know there are a few combinations that don't appear to work so well but that one really does IMHO.
Got to love the F Bass's man...i can't get enough of mine! I think they have quite polite kind of sound...how have you got your pre-amp on it set up? I'm running mine, full neck pick-up, bridge pick-up off fully, tone off fully...passive...sounds thick, funky and D'angelo never sounded so damn good
Jeez that sounds extreme- I'll try it tomorrow! The Nordy is great, anytime you're passing J14 M1 give me a call. Cheers Steve

Thanks guys. The Nordy has really grown on me in the last few days and I can't really work out why. It just seems to sound a lot fuller than it did even through the Markbass so anyway I'm not complaining! Do these cabs play in at all? I know theres a school of thought along those lines.

Which of the two (great) basses does that rig suit better would you say Joe?

Hi Dood Don't tell me you believe all that twaddle Powersoft put about? (Ps Just between you and me that EBS gear is pure rubbish!)
-
Common as muck the Aguilar DB750s.

Hi Toasted Well yeah the Markbass obviously kicks its ass but the Aggies OK!

Hey Ped how's it goin? Don't look for too much science here - I just fancied a change really and I like a smooth tone with a vintage vibe for the Precision but also a more modern take for slap. The Nordy was on the way out until I heard it through the Aguilar as it's a pretty bright bass -much more so than my FBass which is similar looking but a little heavier.(BTW New strings on the FBass didn't make much difference MarkS) The Aggie is to quote someone on Talkbass a 'Wrecking Ball of an Amp' which sums it up for me really.Very full but surprisingly clean tone and just tons of 'balls'. Quite heavy by my standards mind (43lbs). The Markbass is a great little amp too and I love the size/weight.(Not a DB750 but I can't see why Toasted seems to hate them?) The cabs are Berg HS210 and EX 112 and I'm getting a BagEnd S15D this week and probably a HT112 to give loads of combinations.(All 8ohm) Lovely Fender Precision ('83) with flats and it sounds just amazing using an old pretty knackered Ashdown ABM400 I bought from Warwick_Hunt I'm going to put it into a amp hospital for a makeover coz I really love its tone with the P. So to answer your question I have one for each day of the month never mind week and dya know what - I LAAARV it mate!!

I really don't want to make this choice but to keep costs under control I need to sell/trade either my brand new Nordy vj5 or this amazing Jazz bass. I'm after either an outright sale at £1250.00 or a part trade for a nice 4 string bass plus enough cash to buy a cab for a DB750! Maybe a nice Stingray or such (Fretless ok) Of course if you have a Epi212NYC or a Berg322 lying around! or something not too big or small please run it by me! It's the bass I traded with Birdy a couple of months ago and is a really great Fender Jazz - one of a limited run of CustomShop basses. It comes with all the hardware and a nice case.

Hey Dood - sorry but he's even bigger than you are so.......... ' I ad to comply!!! '

Bought a Aguilar DB750 off Richard - a pleasure to deal with - no hassles.

Homie and I met up today and exchanged tons of gear and cash! A good time was had by me at least so thanks for a straightforward deal. Good to meet you, hope the rig kicks ass, I'm sure it will!
Hey chap! Still using the EBS classic there mate?
How much ya got?????? Only kidding! I played it up at Bassdirect the other day and it was making a lot of noise and not sounding really very good at all - basically was on the way out!!!!!!!.........Then I tried it again at home with my Epi212 NYC and it sounded amazing and quiet too? Not sure what all that's about but the bottom line is I should probably keep it. Back to topic..........sort of? As you know I sold my 310Epi for a 410UL Epi as it's a bit heavier but actually quite a bit more cab. I was however blown away by the Bergantino IP310 the other day - AMAZING tone and deafeningly loud. I'd have one but I can't really justify having that and a lightweight rig too. That having been said I can't justify a damn thing I own basswise so what the hell!!!

I had one which sounded great with a EBS pre/QSC poweramp. I heard Ari's one at the bassbash, I think it was with a IAmp 600 and that too sounded great. It's a very portable cab - only 47lbs is pretty amazing when you hear it.

Get your eyes off that EBS Doodie-boy!!! She's mine I tell ya! Thanks for the offers guys, I'm going to see Mark at BassDirect this week to get even more confused!

Is there anyone not a million miles from Milton Keynes who has a Aguilar DB750 I could have a go on? I love the tone of my Walkabout - the extra balls it has compared to SS stuff! I'd like a similar tone but with more Watts(Some say the tone of the bigger Mesa amps isn't the same?) The Gallery is next option but thought it might be worth an ask anyway. Ta
