1. Thanks guys it is Ash/Maple and very different sounding to Birdy's LG5's that I've played - much brighter - total slap heaven!! I felt the LG5 might be too dark played through my Berg NV412 but this should be 'just right'! I really am struggling to decide which of the other two basses to move on - I really love the Precision but I tend to play the Sklold more - also I think the Skjold will be harder to sell at a reasonable price. Strange how they don't appear to hold resale that well compared to some other makes - I rate the Skjold up there with anything really. Still want an LG5 too!!!!!!!
2. Here ya go....... It's an LM5 from the winter Namm show before last - same as the one the Pbass came from. Plays amazing and is quite light too - a bonus for me. Cool basses! Thanks Mick.
3. Oooh twist that knife!!!!!
4. HaHa......I'm charging the Camera battery!!!!!
5. Thanks KiOgon, maybe a bit quirky looking but as you say - Top Gear!
6. Who is this insensitive swine!
7. Ha ! Domestic 'negotiations' are the reason the Puma is for sale....... I'm off completely until next week so anytime really. Cheers Steve
Thanks Steve - I'll open domestic negotiations this evening and let you know what happens - we talking evenings/weekend or both? Chris.
8. Hi Chris The amp is all solid state - set flat it is deeper than most other lightweight heads I've tried but clean all the way. The EQ is very good on it too. I play both active and passive and I'm sure it would cope with your Status no problem. Never bought a footswitch and it lives in a Skinz gig bag which I bought about three months ago from Mark at BassDirect - all in excellent nick. You could practically walk over and give it a go! I should be around this week if you want to try it out - more than welcome. Steve
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I shouldn't have looked at Bass Merchant/TecAmp websites ('specially since MK ain't a million miles away)- a couple of questions 1 - Is the pre-amp all solid state or is there a valve in there somewhere? 2 - The words suggest the Puma will cope with passive and active basses - any idea how it might react to a Status with 18V active electronics. 3 - Any accessories included (carry case, rack ears, foot switch etc.....) Chris.
9. Skjold very grudgingly back up! Somebody buy it quick - don't drag it out!!!!
10. Needs must back up!
11. Hi Jules I'm in Milton Keynes - shame you're not after anyone with amazing talent ......... Haha joking of course.
12. Great gear Chris. Really pleased the BagEnds are in the first team!
13. Fantastic basses - looks brilliant in the bright light!
14. Funny you should post as the Glock' pre is top of my list! I've been watching you.......
15. Ladies & Gents Any interest?
16. Going modular ! I have a Crest CA6 which is great but heavy so ideally looking for a Powersoft D series. I like changing stuff so changing pre's is more sensible than changing heads every time. Good plan or daft?
17. Cmon the last amp you bought from me was awesome!!! Is it fixed yet btw?? The Puma isn't quite in that league.........
18. Bought from BassMerchant last year - excellent condition. http://www.bassmerchant.com/item_detail.ph...p;category_id=2 Can be heard here........ http://www.youtube.com/Kjungbass#p/a/u/1/HLJEjRkZVPI Milton Keynes. Pickup preferred, will consider shipping. SOLD
19. Just bought another Alleva Coppolo so much as it pains me I have to sell this lovely bass. I bought this from BassDirect the day Mark received his first delivery of Skjold basses - it was my pick of the bunch! Weighs around 8lbs in excellent condition. East pre-amp. Awesome flexible bass Sounds and plays fantastic! (Comes with gig-bag) Milton Keynes.
20. Celinder or Alleva Coppolo are what you need but not quite in that budget new - get a nice broken-in used one - seriously they are in a different league IMO. If that's out I would definitely consider a Japanese bass too . Atelier Z /Moon/ Bacchus etc. I emailed Atelier Z tonight asking about Jazz basses as I also have a birthday coming up later this year. Small world! (If your budgets 3k mine should be 5k)
21. I have the Puma1000 which can bridge the two 500w amps which allows 1000w into 8ohms, I believe the very latest versions can do 4 ohms but may be pushing it a bit. Really like this head.........doesn't mean I'll not sell it of course!!!
22. Ha Tony yes I traded it for a status fretless I think? I had a nice 5 string too which ended up with Fingerz for a few years. Amazing slap bass! If I remember correctly this was the first through neck Spitfire and I'm not sure if he did many/any more?
23. Bought a preamp from Rich and would thoroughly recommend him. I was kept well informed and Rich did exactly what he said he would. Thanks again! Steve
