This is good. Seems even handed and very fair. Now, if only BassChat were to make some stickers.....

....Just to be on the safe side, I'm posting this everywhere... The Bass Baton will be at The New Talbot in West Bromwich on Saturday March 9th - my band are called Heartbreaker and we're a Paul Rodgers tribute, so if you like Classic Rawk, come on over. It would be lovely (and slightly intimidating for a Bassist...) to see a few of you there. Rushbo Here's a lovely poster with some more details... Erm....I'm pretty sure its Saturday the 9th, unless I'm very mistaken...which I am a lot of the time. If Yoricks real name is Nigel, then he's da man.I remember that their outgoing Bassist placed the ad on here, which I thought was rather sweet.

Well here's my pre-decimal tuppenceworth: I went on Saturday and had a great time. From comments on previous events, I was expecting it to sound like an explosion in a spoon factory, but it wasn't bad at all. Far worse was the rumbling from the TC Electronics stand which made my fillings vibrate on a number of occasions. You need to bear in mind that I am a Music Teacher and routinely spend time in a class full of students all banging away on whatever they can get their hands on, so maybe I'm just desensitised. The masterclasses and shows were ace. I enjoyed Dave Ellefson's way more than I thought I would. The thought of him playing on a Sunday morning at his local church is an image which will sustain me for days. Jah Wobble was great even though his Bass sounded a bit farty every time he played an 'A'... Lee Rocker err, 'Rocked'. I missed Nate Watts due to lack of foresight on the transport front and had to get a train back to Brum. Please tell me he was terrible... I came away with The Baton - the hard case came in useful when I had to fight my way onto the 17.50 to Watford Junction. For a small fee or donation to BassChat, I will corroborate any stories along the lines of 'No Darling, THIS is that Bass which is going around the country and I haven't spent the children’s trust fund/mortgage/wedding and honeymoon savings on another Bass'. Yes, I am a prince. Well worth the trip and it was lovely to see BassChat in person (sort of).

These are great little instruments, but they tale a lot of navigation due to the teeny-tiny neck. I love mine, but I think you'd be better off learning on a full scale instrument. You'll also save a fortune on talcum powder as if you don't liberally sprinkle that stuff on hands, your fingers will stick to the strings!

Train tickets organised, event ticket printed off and credit card shredded, burned and buried. I pronounce myself ready to go...

SOLD SOLD SOLD As that Geddy Lee chap is trifficly popular round these parts, I thought I'd give you the first dibs on these- Two tix for everyones favourite Canadians on the Clockwork Angels Tour at LG Arena, The NEC on Sun May 26 2013 - 7:30 PM I've got two B Block tickets which I'm gonna let go at face value of £75 each + booking fee (£15) so thats £165 for the pair. They're E-Tickets, so they are easily email-able. Why am I not going...? Well, sadly they clash with Roger Hodgson (not literally, of course) and as I've seen Rush on many occasions (check my Avatar...) and this might be big Roge's last throw of the dice, with a heavy heart, I turn towards the former Supertramp supremo. This is the ideal night out for any Basschatter and as we all know, Rush are killerdiller live. Decent seats too - middle block of the front three blocks. Questions? Queries? fire away...
Is this one of the early models where the guys in the factory were washing their hands with bars of soap, or one of the later models where they'd moved to liquid soap?
Which soap is best for metal? -
The fact that this exists and there's a fitted case for it, makes me happy.

Love mine! Got 'em my 89 Jap Precision and my mid 90's Mexi Jazz. Great, thumpy Bassnoise. I did have an issue tho' - but I love a story with a happy ending.... This thread is both disturbing and confusing. -
When geeks meet geeks its a beautiful thing. I always have a crafty peep especially is tghe noise coming off the Bass is a. amazing or b. utter bobbins. The last band I was in, I doubled up on EUB (one of those rather nice, cheapo Stagg jobs) and Mandolin. I could understand the occasional bemused look by punters at the Bass, but often people would stare at the Mando as if they'd caught sight of Lord Lucan riding Shergar.
