Our drummer has managed to get us a gig at a corporate event he's attending in London. I asked if he could sort out some accommodation. He's offered for me to share his hotel room - at the Savoy!

After years of "digging in" I found it much better to turn the amp up more and just play lighter on the strings with my plucking hand ... Let the amp do the work. Something else I've done is take a tub of vaseline and just rub a little on the ends of my plucking fingers. It helps avoid blisters when you do have to dig in.

Ampeg PF500 and Ampeg PF-115 HE cab, complete with Hotcovers vinyl cover. I bought this new from Andertons in 2011. It's been used regularly for gigging and practising and the only real wear and tear is the plates that hold the casters in place needed a bit of attention and one little bit of the the "tolex" has lifted in one corner. Reason for sale is I've upgraded to something even shinier. I may be open to trades, but would prefer the folding stuff.- 1 reply

We play in Eb just to help the singer (and me when i sing), it's amazing how a semi-tone can make a lot of difference. For other songs that she or I struggle with due to the pitch, we just learn it in a different key. TBH, nobody notices and in some cases it sounds better than the original. For covers most punters wouldn't have a clue that you've changed the key. As long as you're all playing and signing in the same key then nobody really cares.

After a few bouts of bass and amp GAS over the past year or so I've come to the conclusion that I have my bass and amplification requirements fulfilled, but after being "volunteered" to sort out lights for our band I find myself hunting for DMX bargains now.

I had an Aria Pro II CSB-300 back in the 90s. I bought it as I was travelling a lot and I wanted a spare bass to take with me so I could practice. It wasn't at all heavy, but then again I think it was definitely at the budget end of their range. I don't have a photo of it and I traded it after a couple of years (px for a Gibosn EB3) I have to admit that after reading this thread I'm GAS'ing over the old SB700s

This is also my nemesis, both the "signature" riff and the verse part, it doesn't flow for me. Either playing with fingers or with a pick. I learnt it some years ago but the band decided not to go with it, now I've joined another band and it's on the prospective set list. -
I've gotta say that I really like this design, if I had that kind of money going spare I'd really consider it.

I already have a vinyl Hotcovers cover for one amp and it's really good. Looking to get another cover for my new cab but can't decide whether to go for vinyl or canvas. Does anyone have a canvas Hotcovers cover and can comment on it, even better if someone has experienced both and can comment on them?

Was considering a new cab and saw this Andertons bargain brand new for £299, couldn't resist. Goes quite nicely with my TH 500

None of the above cos we tune to E flat! But I use a chromatic tuner and start high to low and then back to high again. I tend to start with the G (or in my case F#) as it's the string that's most likely to go out of tune when being put in and out of the case/gig bag.

I "self taught" myself that bass line a few years ago but I always had to fudge it when playing as I was also singing the lead vocal and it wasn't easy!
