I just picked bought this from KingPrawn last week, it's had 5 gigs so far, I'm totally smitten. I'm selling my Sadowsky DI box as I only have one passive bass left and it doesn't get much use. It's been around the block, so it has some marks, but it's working perfectly. It has velcro on the bottom at the moment, but I'm sure I can find feet for it. £100 posted in the UK. I will add some photos when I get home this evening. I would prefer the cash, but I'm always after decent effects. I'd really like an EBS MicroBass (with money your way) as I've started doing in ear gigs, and I'd like to keep the EBS sound. Great value bass, 3 band eq with an awesome slap tone. Think Stingray on a budget. It's string through, recently restrung with normal D'addario 45-130, so no worries about string length. Easily accessible truss rod adjuster, like a stingray. 3 coil pickup, though the centre is a dummy so you can have noiseless single coil tones. I have Schaller strap locks on it and it will come with the strap parts too, along with the original strap buttons/end-pins whatever they're called. It's pretty old and it's been gigged a lot, so it is far from immaculate, but it is a nice playing great sounding bass. Great cheap gigging bass, or backup.

I've just bought Sandberg TM5, so it's time to thin the herd a little. I'm selling my Fender made in China 5 string Jazz bass, these are not being made any more, but they were great basses. This one has Hipshot machine heads, Hipshot string retainers, a custom Tort scratch plate (by the Bass Doc), Fender Roscoe Beck pickups and a custom loom. It has two volume knobs, and a switch for each pickup giving series, parallel and single coil options. I didn't add a tone knob as I've always used it with a Sadowsky pre-amp/di box which I will add in for another £100. It comes with the original scratch plate and pickups.

Just bought a Sandberg TM5 from Sean, posted next day delivery, and the bass is amazing. Great guy to deal with.

I've replaced a lot of the parts on my MP5 so I have the originals (and some extra machine heads) for sale or trade. Pickups £20 Black scratchplate £10 Machine heads £10 Squier (I think) 4+1 machine heads £10 The Squier machine heads look much better than the MP ones, but I went with Hipshot in the end. All including UK postage, happy to consider trades.

I've been considering one of these for ages, I have a stingrays 5, and a modern player jazz 5 (with roscoe beck pups) and there's things I like about both of them, but neither is exactly what I want. The best things about both of them seem to be almagated in the TM5, but I've never tried one. Has anyone tried one, or even better has anyone compared one to a stingray? I know the best thing would be to try one, but I don't know of any in Edinburgh, so I need to decide if it's worth the trip to somewhere that has one to try. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I bought this for my girlfriend, she wanted a mustang but it's her first bass. I've put in a Seymour Duncan 50s precision style pickup and CTS pots and it sounds and plays lovely. Sarah is getting a my little pony decal made for it......I'm planning nicer machine heads, we have different approaches to modifying......

My G&L L5500, it's always been a great player, but the original EMGs just didn't suit me. The Seymour Duncan's are great, wired up VVT, with series/parallel switches on the volumes, and the tone has a single coil switch. I think I will go for a 2 band preamp at some stage, but really happy with it just now.
Look at the sold prices on Basschat, on eBay, on Gumtree, etc.
Same here, ebays "sold listings" option is great. Why do so many basschatters delete all the info from their sale thread when it's gone, I think the threads are invaluable when deciding on a fair price for buyers and sellers.

When I'm writing a bass line for someone else's song I tend to make a recording of the basic guitar vocals arrangement then listen to it over and over until I'm singing the Bass line in my head. I definitely don't like to use my hand muscle memory or my knowledge of scales write a line for me, they would quickly all start sounding the same. Sometimes I hear a song once and I already have a good idea of what will work, other times it can take ages to be really happy. I tend to find the line will evolve quickly the first few times I play it, but often will keep changing slightly for quite a while, which is why I prefer to gig a song a few times before recording it. When you've written the line you need to be comfortable with it, and open to changing it depending on what other musicians are going to be playing on it. Your line might be amazing, but it may sound awful with the piano player, or drummers ideas, this is when the theory and musical knowledge can be really handy.

What's the strangest place that you've met someone from on here ?
EmmettC replied to ambient's topic in General Discussion
I met Rosco at Glasgow to buy a Gallien Krueger 2x10 combo, it's a kick-back amp with wheels so it felt like bringing luggage back on to the train to Edinburgh. I sent a long message saying I'm short with a beard wearing a shirt etc, he just said "I'll be the one with a bass amp".
