  1. For sale, my bass compressor, it's fully working with a few minor marks in the finish, in the original box, but it's missing one of the plastic knobs, the rotory switch is still working perfectly. It has Velcro on the base at the moment, but I can put the rubber feet back if needed. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/EmmettChristie/IMAG0630_1_zps88baaf36.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/EmmettChristie/IMAG0632_zpsdce87259.jpg I'm looking for £110 posted, but will do a deal if it's collected or bought with any of my other pedals. I'm on the lookout for a big muff or similar if you have one to trade.
  2. As the title says, my bass balls nano for sale. I just got a qtron and this is just taking up room, though not much to be honest. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/EmmettChristie/IMAG0633_1_zpsed875cf8.jpg All working and in good nick, it has Velcro on the base at the moment, but I can stick the rubber feet on if you prefer. I'm looking for £30 posted, but can do a deal if it's collected or bought with any of my other pedals. I'd consider a big muff or similar as a trade.
  3. For sale, my DOD envelope filter, a few marks in the paint but in full working order with battery cover. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/EmmettChristie/IMAG0635_1_zps03093ea9.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/EmmettChristie/IMAG0636_1_zps7ee7cf22.jpg I'm looking for around £35 posted in the UK, but can do a deal if it's collected, or if bought with my other pedals for sale. The only thing I'm after in terms of trade is a big muff or similar.
  4. Just bought a Gallien Krueger combo off Ross, exactly as described, nice and easy to deal with. Cheers Ross.
  5. I just picked up a Gallien Krueger 700RBii 2x10 combo off rosco (of this parish) this morning. Great guy to deal with by the way. First impressions are great, I've been struggling for years to find a reasonable size gigging combo that I like, and finally I think it's here. My main, and definitely favourite, rig is my EBS hd350 and Proline 4x10, but it's a bit of a handful and not always easy to hear in small venues when it's pointing at my ankles and I'm right beside it. I tried a Markbass 2x10 combo, but I just didn't like the sound. The kickback function was great though and I actually considered trying to mount my EBS head into it, but probably wisely traded it for a TC Electronics bg250. I loved the bg250 combo, but it just didn't seeem like it would last prolonged gigging, the cover was marked after one trip in the van with the rest of the gear, and it wasn't quite giving me a punchy enough sound. So it often stayed at home in favour of the EBS even for smaller gigs. The GK is pretty big, but it has little wheels, and it's much smaller than the EBS. It has a kicks back like a monitor, and I guess most importantly it sounds great. So far I've just left the eq flat, given it a little contour and some tweeter and it sounds great. Typically I don't have a gig I can use it for a couple of weeks, but I can definitely see it being used really regularly. Anyone else using one of these?
  6. Sold pending the usual.
  7. I'm in Edinburgh, but I'm happy to arrange a courier.
  8. I took some photos this morning, there is some scuffing on the covering, I've shown it in the pictures, but with that in mind I'll be happy with £200 http://s214.photobucket.com/user/EmmettChristie/media/IMAG0619_zps824d3d08.jpg.html http://s214.photobucket.com/user/EmmettChristie/media/IMAG0620_1_zpse2049208.jpg.html The Mark on the grill is just residue from the bg250 sticker http://s214.photobucket.com/user/EmmettChristie/media/IMAG0621_zps344af6ba.jpg.html http://s214.photobucket.com/user/EmmettChristie/media/IMAG0624_zps91673d82.jpg.html The marks here look worse than they are, and it's not torn the whole way through. I have my eye on another amp on here, so open to offers.
  9. My tc bg250 has been great, bass in one hand amp in the other, but I prefer my EBS rig, so I end up using it for smaller gigs and leaving the tc at home. I'm after a small combo or even just a good 1x12 cab, I'd prefer to trade but happy to sell to get some money for new gear. What have you? Edit: I should have mentioned it's the bg250 1x15 combo, it has a tube drive and a single tone print effect.
  10. Any chance you're looking to trade?
  11. I'll have a look at it tomorrow morning and I'll let you know what I find. Thanks for the help.
  12. I'm just finished sound check for tonight's gig and the tweeter on my cab is starting to blow. It's cracking and distorting with any little volume, I recognise it, because it happened 2 years ago too. I play in a fairly busy wedding/function band with the EBS cab and an EBS HD350, but we have a big pa, so it's never particularly loud and the tweeter is usually at about half volume. Am I very unlucky, or is there something I'm doing that's shortening the life of them, or do I just have to factor in a new tweeter every few years to have such a lovely sound. Is it possible the crossover is faulty and sending too much low end to the tweeter? It cost about £150 or so last time, is there any other cheaper tweeters that will fit? Or a cheaper source for the genuine EBS one? Thanks for any help.
  13. I think Jeff Ament occasionally used a Hamer 8 string with Pearl Jam.
  14. Like you said every instrument is different, so I would always buy the one I try. If a shop has more than one in stock it will most likely try to give you the one still in a box, because the "display" model has most likely been set up to some degree. However most shops won't have more than one of any bass in stock, basses just don't sell quickly enough and it's more beneficial to have a variety of stock rather than multiples of one type or colour. You can ask to have a new one ordered, but that will take time, and again you are getting an unknown instrument, which won't be set up. If it were me (it never has been, I've never bought a new bass) I would enquire about ordering a new new one, then ask about a possible discount, or free bag/lead/tuner if I buy the "display" model. I would never buy a new factory made instrument I hadn't played, and where possible I buy from local shops. I don't think there's a way to avoid buying a display model.
  15. A decent (probably EBS Proline) 2x10 cab for smaller gigs. I'm sick of carrying my 4x10 cab, but it's too nice to sell, so can I have my £500 now?
  16. I could be wrong, but wouldn't a solid bridge unit spread the tension between the strings and the body more evenly. With individual saddles if one string is lower tension, or even lower mass, will that not affect how it resonates.
  17. I have a Chris Larkin Fretless Acoustic, amazing bass. I'd have this in a second if it was a 5 string.
  18. I noticed a few people here seem to know a lot about old Washburns. I've just come into possesion of what I assume (serial number) is a 1980 Washburn B-1. It looks pretty budget, but pretty and small, electronics are fine, but it's missing 2 machine heads. I'd like to find out where it was made, if it's worth trying to source original machine heads, and if it will be any good when it's working. I have no interest in keeping it, I'm just trying to decide whether to put a little work into it or just try and get rid of it as is.
  19. Fancy a G&L L5500 5 string?
  20. My G&L L2500 Tribute. It was great, but I wrongly assumed it would be easy to replace. So I sold it to buy my stingray, the worst thing is that money wasn't the issue, I just wanted to keep the peace with my ex. I've tried loads of Tributes since and none of them were as good.
  21. Sold.
  22. I'm about to start a bit of a clearout, and this is the first thing to go. I bought it about 2 years ago, but I've never quite got around to writing the solo bass performance I had in mind when I bought it. I'm not in much of a rush, and i'd prefer cash, but I'm happy to trade with money either way for a jazz bass body, or a decent envelope filter. I can't seem to attach photos from my phone, but I'll put some up later.
  23. [quote name='gsgbass' timestamp='1382581001' post='2253975'] I used a Rickenbacker 4003, that cost a bit more than the Fender American Deluxe. For what I've found for myself, an American Standard, or an American Deluxe Jazz is great without worrying about money being no object. I could have spent more but I don't need to. [/quote] Hmmm, I kind of agree. I (mostly) use a Stingray 5, I bought it used and it's exactly what I need, so I don't need to spend any more.........but........I'd love a Wal.
  24. [sup]I think diminishing returns is probably the point of this thread really.[/sup] [sup]I work in MI retail too, though we don't really carry anything more expensive than a USA Fender, I often have people say that an American Standard is overpriced, and I see their point, but I have a hard working 72 precision that is still great to play so if you assume the new one is still being gigged in 40 years then it only costs about £26 per year or 50p a week.[/sup] [sup]The other consderation is tax, the bass itself only costs about £916 the rest goes to the government, so alot of the money you lose if you sell your bass is actually the tax, so the actual devaluation isn't that bad.[/sup] [sup]Anyway, I think the Custom Shop Dusty Hill Precision is ridiculously overpriced, but it is so beautiful, and if I could afford it I'd buy it.[/sup]
