a couple of compressors I like the look of are the Fairfield Circuitry Accountant and the Rothwell Love Squeeze. Any users on here?
The Rothwell is a great simple two-knobber with good compression and low noise, by all accounts. Never tried one though. I do have an Accountant though, but I use it set with low compression as a dirty boost / overdrive. For some reason it's very noisy when adding the input pad to clean the sound up, so I wouldn't recommend it as a general purpose compressor.
The Barefaced Retro 210 is designed to be used in either orientation, but if stacked vertically results in a bottom ported cab. I've always wondered if this would be problematic having read comments against placing rear ported cabs close to walls?
Any advice on this one Alex? Particularly if positioning a Retro 210 vertically on a carpeted floor?

You mention P vs J mode, but how about P+J? Mine is in that mode 99% of the time!

Just discovered this bunch, very different but they remind me of Vulfpeck: http://youtu.be/GnEmD17kYsE

Neotech are good too. I lost mine somehow, might need to get another now that my BB1025X is getting regular outings!
To be fair, the Stache isn't Green based, so will sound different, but features wise it's going to be hard for the EHX to beat either that or the COG. It's only really going to be if you want a production (i.e. not boutique) green muff for not much money. Me? I'll stick with my Stache & two Grand Tarkins for now.
It's useful for anyone that wants a great fuzz and is concerned more about tone than whether or not their pedal was hand made. I've had a Grand Tarkin and happen to think the EHX kicks its ar$e!

They've hinted that they've been doing some DSP related shenanigans behind the scenes too. Darkglass plugins or digital fx may be headed our way...

Doug has 3 more product announcements coming this month so who knows!

Fairfield Barbershop or Accountant are tiny and when great for dirty boosts. Although if you need a mid control you should probably look elsewhere.

Don't get your hopes up. The AO is much darker than the B7K, take away that EQ and it'll be darker still. I'm sure I've said elsewhere but if you want a brighter VMT, check out the latest VMTD with the attack switch, or the Pike Vulcan (which is available to rent from a certain pedal rental company).
As it happens I do have one but it's not listed yet. I have some still to add this week. If you're looking to try one I'll add it this week for you. And yes, they are very nice. I tried the keeley pro for a while which was excellent but the Cali parallel compression is much better at retaining the pick attack/top end dynamics. I'm looking to get the RMI compressor in at some point too.
I just bought the RMI! If I A/B the Cali and decide to keep the Cali I could do you a deal... I have an Effectrode PC-2A which is the sweetest sounding comp I've ever tried, but when you slap or pop hard, the compression makes the low end disappear since it's low in volume relative to the high frequency content. Therefore interested in trying the RMI Dual Band or the Cali with it's LPF and blend knobs...

Sounds like you want to add a bridge pickup?

I'd be interested in trying a Cali Compact Bass compressor if you stocked one! I'm sure that would be a popular one around here too, enough for the investment to pay for itself.

I wasn't a fan of the isobaric cabs - very heavy, not much clarity, and they take a lot of power to drive. Only thing going for it was that it was very small with incredible amounts of low end.

Assuming you want tubes I would say Orange AD200 or a Matamp... Or if you want tube grind on the cheap, buy my Tech 21 VT500!
That should be Head for Vanderkley cabs!
Freudian slip?

Just gave it a quick bash! VERY thick and heavy, just like the TFR with a bit more upper mids. It can deal with me pegging the low B on my loud passive Yamaha BB, which overloads the front end of most other muffs I've tried except the TFR and BBM. Massive lows, they thump nicely too, I wouldn't need to use a blend with this. Even playing with a pick that normally sounds thin and trebly, you get a massive sub bass punch using this. One difference I noticed to the BBM, if I dig in hard on that pedal with both PJ pickups on, it produces a nice overdrive like growl. On the Russian it just sounds the same but louder and heavier, like this is your tone now and you ain't changing it! Not necessarily a bad thing either. It gets my seal of approval anyway, I'll stick it on the board for a bit and see how it fares in a full band mix!

Thanks everyone, I've ordered the Maplin one. I have plenty of space for cables elsewhere, I just want something compact that can survive being knocked about in the back of a van!

I'd look for camera pouches, bound to be one out there with a belt clip/loop. I just keep mine on the desk though and don't have a need to attach it to me.
Reckon it's a bit heavy for that really. Currently I have a 'Noels Bass Mycro' 9v headphone amp that I dangle from the socket and it's not very neat (plus the thing produces a bit of hiss and doesn't have an Aux input)
I wasn't being serious

Found this one too: http://www.clasohlson.com/uk/Instrument-Case/40-8469

I use mine with a pair of Ampeg SVT210AVs in a vertical stack. Cheap and lightweight, although I would probably swap them for a pair of Barefaced Retro 210s given the chance! The great thing about a vertical stack like this is it takes up hardly any room on stage, you get speakers firing at your ears as well as your knees, and it's supposed to be better for dispersion than side by side placement of a typical 410. Downside is it's an accident waiting to happen if the band or the crowd are a bit rowdy! Maybe I should invest in some guy ropes...

In an opposite fashion, you could use a pedal coupler to have the PJB Bighead dangling out of your jack socket with no patch cables if that's your thing too!
