1.
In post #33 I mentioned removing Netfilter.2 solved all my troubles. It turned up after a Malware Bytes Anti-Malware scan. https://www.fixyourbrowser.com/removal-instructions/how-to-remove-genvariant-adware-netfilter-2-removal-guide/
I ran that too and it picked up nothing, and still get the issue. But only very rarely, so it might just be pot luck that you've not seen it since!
2.
Doc you choose to buy just the downloads deliberately, or is it that the artists don't have CDs or Records available?
Deliberately. I don't have a turntable, so my priority is FLAC > CD > MP3. If FLAC is not an option, I'll go for the CD option, rip it, then chuck it in a cupboard never to be seen again. Physical CDs aren't much use to to me, only CD players I have are the ones in my PC and XBox. I have SONOS and PLEX in the house so I can play anything from my NAS in any room.
3.
Where do you think funk came from?
Outer space. http://youtu.be/38IFCiqc6LQ

5. I buy FLAC from Bandcamp regularly, in fact I can't remember the last time I bought music from anywhere else!
6. Where did you order from?
7. Yes the Q-Tron is still available. I have the manual for the fuzz, I'll report back to tomorrow!
8. Got a set on a T-Bird, I quite like em, but they're not as flexible as the Dunlop Super Brights, which I feel are easier to slap on. I think the Flexsteels are discontinued now according to a recent thread on here though, although they still seem to be sold online. I have an unopened set going spare if you fancy trying some (45-100 I think)!
9. The regular non-vintage P basses also have a slightly slimmer neck with 1.625" nut / 9.5" radius compared to the vintage spec 1.75" nut / 7.25" radius of the Pino. I did not get on with the neck of the Classic 50s P (which I believe is a similar size to the Pino), but my small hands get on just fine with my American Standard P. Squier Classic Vibe is always an option since it comes in the Pino colour scheme!
10. No UK dealers that I'm aware of: http://www.bearfootfx.com/dealers/ Best bet is Prymaxe in the US with one of their 20% discount codes they run from time to time (sign up to their newsletter). Also they have an online chat where you tell them what you want and they will just dish you out a discount code for it! Bought loads from them and never had to pay fees either.
11. A lot of that might be to do with the pickup, which you can 'pick up' separately... But I suspect a lot of it is also to do with that beefy neck. I had a classic 50s for a while and it had something special about it, best sounding P I've ever tried, but found the combo of wide neck / small radius / sharp board edges uncomfortable to play.
12. I wouldn't say identical, more 'close enough for most'. On a slightly different note, I was surprised how different my US B3K and Fin B7K sounded. I would have thought they would be the same with the EQ set flat, but the 3 had way more gain/saturation, more low mid grunt and less highs. I struggled to get them to match in an A/B test!
13. Sounds like you just like the era control on the older model vs the new one that replaces it with extra EQ and toggles, rather than a USA vs Finland thing? Before the change there would have been Helsinki built VMTDs also with the era control, which you might find to sound just like your Seattle version. I replaced my Vintage with a Vulcan, although I'd be interested to see what the new Vintage is like as I found the original too muffled!
14. They sound identical, I thought the Octaver was note sought after because of the rarity of the extra letter, not the tone. Some argue of differences between the Taiwan and Japan versions though.
15. Awesome bass and great price. Seriously tempted but I can't move around here for basses and it's bound to be gone by the time I get around to moving some on!
16. It's the MXR Bass Distortion that's Rat-based. That could well be with a look if it's a distortion/fuzz rather than octave effect you seek. Check out the Akai Unibass for a guitar simulator, putting out an octave plus a fifth above to layer power chords on top of your root notes from the bass. It's old and discontinued but worth a look to see if it's a road you want to go down, although not sure if there is a decent modern replacement all-in-one pedal that does the same.
17. I've never been massively into Radiohead, but I heard this track on the radio once and absolutely fell in love with it: http://youtu.be/xARuGF27Bcg Found this fan mad video too which is much better! http://vimeo.com/119800659
18. Malekko Diabolik gets my vote. I have a TAFM and love it, but never use the gate feature, it's not its strong point if you ask me.
19.
If I had spare 1k https://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-steve-harris-precision-bass-in-west-ham-colours/112331?gclid=CPbqpIb3oNMCFccy0wodqLwPXg
Should be able to cover up that West Ham logo with the remaining £13 too!
20. I wouldn't make anybody a recommendation for a £1k bass without first knowing what kind of sound they want, favourite bands/bassists, etc. Growly, modern and aggressive or fat and old skool? Active/passive, how many strings? Classic looks or something a bit different?
21.
Makes sense to me. Now that I think about it I think Paul Young's recording of Daryl Hall's "Everytime You Go Away" employs a fretless bass guitar and it sounds awesome. Blue
Indeed it does, I've been after a fretless Stingray for a while now since seeing this! http://youtu.be/HnnewhuLuj8 Also check out some Pearl Jam: http://youtu.be/V3w7ixSNG_c
22.
Probably the very first one the link leads to (at least for me), about Rob Trujillo's 12 year old son playing bass for Korn on a forthcoming tour.
Top of the page says "Pearl Jam, Tupac and Joan Baez inducted into HoF", hence the confusion!
23. Thanks for the clips Jim! I'd be interested to hear the envelope filters, the Z-Tron from the previous generation was excellent but I wasn't a fan of the rest. I had assumed they would use the same old models from before but if you say the drives have improved then maybe the others have too!
24. Your link has a dozen stories on it, which one?
25. I wouldn't expect to see an ad asking for a fretless player any more than I would expect to see and add asking for a Fender Precision player. I played fretless in a 'regular band' for a number of years, the ad I replied to never mentioned fretless of course but it was the only bass I had at the time! Later I got a fretted bass also and used both depending on what was most appropriate for the track.
