1. Nice, but wouldn't pay £3k for one! http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Fender-Custom-Shop-Artisan-Postmodern-Bass/1H22
2. I got some AllParts ones from eBay, the corners were less rounded than the originals on my USA P so I had to file the pickguard a little bit to get them to fit.
3. They have services like that in the US, so maybe one day! https://www.pedalgenie.com Better to organise informal swapsies with other BC members, I have done this a few times in the past.
4.
I actually just put a set of Golds on but the low E is dead so I've sent them a video to ask about getting a replacement. They are much mellower and certainly on their own sound nice (apart from the E), just wonder if they will have enough definition in a band mix. How have you found them?
I had the same problem with a duff E before, all I did was ring up the shop I purchased them from and they sent me a whole new set. Sorry, can't remember which shop it was, but I'd try that route over making a video and going direct to Pyramid, try dealing with the middle man! I loved the tone of them but never played them in a band mix, sorry.
5. I don't think there is a general recommendation, everyone seems to have a different favourite! If you want a mellower sound than Chromes, I can recommend Pyramid Golds.
6. Plenty of lows with the standard unit. However if the tone of the OB1 isn't doing it for you and you want the VT tone, you could sell the amp and get a VT500. The amp not only has the blend and bite features of the VTDI, but also has a switch to shift the mid control lower down which is great for boosting low mids to fatten up a Jazz bass! You should be able to pick up a used one for £350 or less.
7. Looks a bit big for you though, can you reach the 1st fret?
8. Looks stunning! I have one from the opposite end of the scale, a bolt on Rockbass version - one of my favourite basses to play despite the weak pickups (which I intend to replace). Mine is also supposedly satin nirvana black, but just looks like someone dyed a bit of boring looking wood dark brown. That pricetag though...
9.
If it needs a fan then so be it. I won't hear it when playing live, it's a 900w head rammed full of distortion for stage use... it's not a bedroom toy.
There's no reason why a well designed amp cannot be both. If at bedroom practice levels the fan doesn't kick in, or just kicks in very quietly, no problem. But if an amp uses a cheap noisy fan that has no intelligent speed control, then it hasn't been engineered very well, and I don't see why I should splash out on one amp for stage and a separate one for home/studio. I'd expect the cooling system to be well designed in this one though!
10.
What's a reasonable spec tweak?
The rumour I heard was a bone nut and a few new colours on offer.
11. If it was fine then it wasn't, have you tried changing the batteries?
12. That backs up what I heard then, I'm expecting nothing more than a rebrand, price hike, and spec tweak.
13. The original iRig is pretty much just a fancy splitter, the iRig HD though has proper digital converters inside. The Sonic Port is great, only downsides are no input gain and no way to charge the device during use - both of which are possible with the new iRig HD2 by the way, which is where I would be looking. Not a big fan of Positive Grid stuff though, too many annoying bugs such as pedals that just plain don't work (the Mutron!), knobs/switches that do nothing or work the wrong way round, etc. The amp models in Tonestack and Garageband sound better to me by far.
14.
Ah man. For ages Doug was on facebook saying there wouldn't be a fan. Now there is one. I hate fan noise with a passion I usually reserve for baked beans. I just can't have fan noise when playing with un-amplified woodwind instruments.
He has put a lot of work into the cooling system though to ensure that it only spins up when it needs to with variable speed. Unlike the Aguilar TH500 that comes on full blast after 10 minutes sat idle! So don't discount it until you've tried it or seen some reviews! I can't think of an amp I've tried that doesn't have a fan except the AD200.
15.
I replaced a very fantastic effectrode pc2a with one of these! And don't regret it one bit. Fantastic sound and beautifully built 😆
I replaced mine with your Effectrode and don't regret it either! Glad that worked out well.

17. I heard the American Standards are to be replaced with the American Professional series, featuring bone nuts and some new colours, not sure if there are any other differences. This was just an off-the-cuff remark by someone on a Talkbass thread about bone nuts, who reckons he has some insider knowledge! Expect to see some bargains when they clear the old line out though!
18. That Blueberry is a frigging bargain and won't hang around for long!
19. ^ Or you could just buy a cable or adapters that convert from whatever you have to whatever you need. No reason why you can't hook up fancy monitors direct to an on-board sound card with a stereo 3.5mm to two mono 6.25mm jack cable.
20. If you want clanky valves in a pedal, I would get a VT Bass! Proper tube amp distortion comes from pushing the output section to insane volumes which you might not be able to get away with. Pushing the input with a booster will work but you might get better results from an actual overdrive pedal. Only one way to find out though and that's to try it!
21. I had some Alesis M1 Active MkII monitors that were great, discontinued now but available for under £100 new - I sold mine on here recently for £75 posted. Many years ago I auditioned everything under £200 in a store and chose these. No headphone output or easy volume control (each speaker has a volume knob on the back that is pretty much set and forget) but pair it up with a mini mixer and you'll get that functionality as well as being able to mix in other sources.
22. Yeah, second track in, the "der der-der, der-der, der-der" from the crowd was drowning out the band so they just stopped playing everything except the drums and let the crowd carry it. The band were awestruck that many people knew the tune!
23. Sweet, I thought the line had been discontinued! Love my CV J.
24.
i have tried all of these and liked em, but in the end i settled on the eden its very warm and natural sounding and Andertons are doing them for 60 notes at present
Looks like a good deal, never seen this amp but it looks ideal for jamming with others. Two instrument inputs plus an aid input and two headphone oututs, so you could just use it as a mixer and headphone amp! https://www.andertons.co.uk/p/EDEN-EM15/bass-combos/eden-em15-2-channel-15w-multi-purpose-combo-amp
