1. If you want clanky valves in a pedal, I would get a VT Bass! Proper tube amp distortion comes from pushing the output section to insane volumes which you might not be able to get away with. Pushing the input with a booster will work but you might get better results from an actual overdrive pedal. Only one way to find out though and that's to try it!
2. I had some Alesis M1 Active MkII monitors that were great, discontinued now but available for under £100 new - I sold mine on here recently for £75 posted. Many years ago I auditioned everything under £200 in a store and chose these. No headphone output or easy volume control (each speaker has a volume knob on the back that is pretty much set and forget) but pair it up with a mini mixer and you'll get that functionality as well as being able to mix in other sources.
3. Yeah, second track in, the "der der-der, der-der, der-der" from the crowd was drowning out the band so they just stopped playing everything except the drums and let the crowd carry it. The band were awestruck that many people knew the tune!
4. Sweet, I thought the line had been discontinued! Love my CV J.
5.
i have tried all of these and liked em, but in the end i settled on the eden its very warm and natural sounding and Andertons are doing them for 60 notes at present
Looks like a good deal, never seen this amp but it looks ideal for jamming with others. Two instrument inputs plus an aid input and two headphone oututs, so you could just use it as a mixer and headphone amp! https://www.andertons.co.uk/p/EDEN-EM15/bass-combos/eden-em15-2-channel-15w-multi-purpose-combo-amp
6. Here you go: http://www.smallsoundbigsound.com/products/team-awesome-fuzz-machine/
7. Hard to describe, but the new one sounded duller, not as much 'heft', and didn't respond to playing dynamics as well - my old one feels bouncy and squelchy when playing light then opens up and roars when you dig in, and the new one didn't react the same way. It wasn't pink though, and that could make all the difference!
8. Yeah, at least the one I bought a couple of years ago was not in the same league as my old one, not even close. It could have just been that one though, hard to day without trying a few! But the circuit has seen several tweaks over the years though according to posts on ilovefuzz, e.g. the transistors and the frequency of the mid switch changed at least once and newer ones have an internal buffer that's switched on by default for a brighter sound.
9. I've actually come round to the TAFM still being #1 in fact - OP ammended!
10.
Sounds nice. If you do end up moving on your TAFM .......1st first dibs please :-)
Did some A/B-ing earlier and there's no way I'm letting go of that TAFM I'm afraid!
11. If you want old school soul in a Class D head, check out the Orange Terror Bass! And buy a Precision.
12. Good news is that old bridge has good resale value for people building their own vintage style bitsa basses!
13. Says Amesbury, UK in the ad?
14. Is this the first ever recorded demo of bass fuzz? Sounds pretty sweet anyway! http://youtu.be/VAWwBEx3Qkc
15.
On a different note, if you decide to move the Photon on, 1st dibs please!
Maybe if/when the Photon III comes out in a several years time! Basically if you like fuzz, do everything possible within the bounds of the law to obtain one of these!
16. Black is the best colour for these anyway! I have the same bass, truly a keeper.
17.
That sounds pretty good. With the Muff it reminds me of the Soft Moon. Might be a winner, hopefully the noise floor is OK. The last EH modulation pedal I bought was the Bad Stone reissue which sounds great but the switch pops too loudly to use live.
You can fix that! https://www.talkbass.com/threads/fixing-the-loud-pop-from-the-ehx-bad-stone.1229566/
18. Check the wanted section, someone was after one of these!
19. Do you know if the Toneprint editor has the same crossover and EQ features? I've got a Corona Mini also but not tried messing with the PC app yet.
20. For £35 you could also get a used Fender or Seymour Duncan and shift it on for the same price if you decide it's not for you. Place a wanted ad and you're bound to get one quick!
21. New in at Bass Direct: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Combustion_NG2_Pearl_Pink.html I could never get away with playing this, but all the same, I love it!
22. Certain shops will mark their packages as $5 value to get around this. Illegal of course, but still jolly nice of them. Just to rub your nose in it, I just bought a $300 pedal, it came through marked up for the full value and I didn't have to pay customs a penny! You win some, you lose some.
23. I still say it is one of the worst sounding pedals I have ever heard, from this demo at least: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4L3PwjvkZs I read the threads on the Volt Thrower too. The rave reviews made me want one, the cool looking box made me want one even more. Then I heard it and lost interest instantly! I've heard some good demos of the MXR though (at low to medium gain at least)!
24. I must say that Behringer above looks like one of the best options and is a bargain to boot. Being able to cut the bass out of the mp3 you're jamming along to is a feature I miss!
25.
nope, with you on that. sounds from the clips like a one trick pony with a pretty poor low end!
Changed your mind on that then?
