1. Using mine (non-deluxe) as part of a headphone practice setup... it does great things to fuzz, you should try an ODB-3 into one!
2. Looking forward to seeing them play London in September!
3. The bass that has surprised me the most is the Sandberg Basic I bought from this very forum. It's like a Stingray but with a smaller lighter body, faster neck, active/passive switching and a warmer sound due to the pickup being a little bit further from the bridge. I bunged some TI flats on it too last week. Plugged straight in without any pedals, in active or passive mode, it's the best sounding bass I've owned and now I want a fretless to go with it! They don't pop up used very often but there is the cheaper yet very similarly specced Sandberg Electra M4 out there, I've seen the odd one on eBay come up cheap.
4. Funnily enough I was thinking something similar yesterday - I've just bought some chrome vintage style T-Bird pickups to go in a project bass, the pickups are a tiny bit smaller than the hole that's there and I thought the chrome pickup rings would be enough to cover the gap, but they just need to be a tiny bit bigger... So I had an idea to design and print some little black spacer plates to go under the chrome rings. I assume places exist where you can send them the 3D model and get the goods back in the post?
5. I love the ODB-3 when used at high gain, and into a cab without a tweeter (or through a cab sim). Nothing quite like it. Those that buy it thinking it's an overdrive like the label says are the ones that usually hate it! Other pedals I've tried and hated yet get a lot of love from others: - Fairfield Barbershop - Mountainking Megalith - EHX Bass Soul Food - Joyo Ultimate Drive - Ashdown James Lomenzo Hyperdrive - 3Leaf Wonderlove
6. Get yourself one of these instead, it can cover so many tones in one pedal! http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Soundblox_Aftershock_Bass_Distortion.html http://youtu.be/x8UnQDrlFAk
7. Stunning deal, for some reason Yamahas have never been fashionable but are very underrated, so they're are plenty of bargains to be found on the used market. I'd only part with mine if a black BB2025X came up cheap!
8. I've bought a bass from Pete before and advised him to come here, top chap, deal with confidence!
9. I've used shipito.com in the past before with great results. They charge $2 on top of the delivery charge to forward a parcel I think. You also get the opportunity to be 'creative' when filling out the customs declaration in case the value is over the VAT duty threshold!
10. I'd measure where the bridge pup is first - if it's in the 60s position and you apply 70s spacing between them, your neck pup will be too far north! I've seen PJs where the bridge pup is quite far back and others where they are pretty close to the P pup.
11. Humans 1 - 0 Machines [Img]http://i.imgur.com/PHHvJEf.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
12. There's a new Darkglass Jon Stockman (of Karnivool) signature pedal coming out soon too. I'm expecting it to be one of the best heavy bass distortions known to man.
13. They also made at least one MIM with the wrong body that had the pickups in the 60s position. There was one for sale on here not long ago and also one was used for some stock photos that a lot of stores are displaying.
14. I didn't care for the PPB I had, or the clips I've heard of the Sleeping Dog, so I vote Aftershock. The Aftershock has amazing potential and versatility, but to get the best out of it requires a lot of dabbling around in the Neuro app. Check out this vid, especially near the end when he blends a muff in parallel with a Rat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8UnQDrlFAk Then at the flick of a switch you can get tubey overdrive or Darkglass style grind. Great pedal, but I've not had time to mess with mine properly yet!
15. The Psilocybe phaser in the for sale section would fit in nicely!
16. I've been eying these up too. Nice to see the burst had a bit of red/yellow to it, it looked a bit dull and brown in the official pics. I don't get why these are priced lower than the US Standards though when they are supposed to be at the same level?
17. They'd sell a lot more basses if they did limited runs of special colours and changed the colour say every 3 months. Right now your options for a US Standard are black, white, or sunburst. BORING. A lot of people would jump at the chance if there were limited runs of capri orange, shell pink, sienna burst, etc.
18. On my mobile at least, it just redirects to the UK site which does not feature the mod shop. If I use a free VPN like hidemyass.com I can browse it fine. Is it just me or you no longer able to select a P with a J neck like you used to be able to in the ADE? That was one of the best things about it.
19. Sounds like you are describing DiMarzio Model J's! They have two coils side by side, kinda like a P pickup rammed into a Jazz housing.
20. I've read mineral oil to be recommended in the past, the same stuff that aromatherapists use so easily bought from ebay etc.
21. Looking forward to the Stockman pedal for sure, give us some more teaser clips please!
22.
Are Pike still going? After their silencing campaign on social media and shops refusing to sell them earlier this year iv heard nothing from them... The Vintage with the attack and grunt switches has somewhat transformed what the pedal can do. I'd very much recommend you give one a go!
I've seen nothing to suggest they're not, their site is still up and they are still for sale in various places. Bass Direct is the only shop I'm aware of that decided to stop selling them, and I'm not aware of any 'silencing campaign' either?
23. Good god. It might have been sellable (for around £30) before he scribbled on it with a permanent marker!
24. I have a John East stingray pre I'd sell you, but it's the 4 knob version so you'd have to fit a side jack!
