1. If you like Brite Flats, try Status half-rounds. Very similar but a bit smoother, cheaper, and I think they sound better!
2. I moved from a BB415 to BB1025X and didn't notice any decrease in volume - the BB1025X has a pretty high output, much more than my P bass.
3. Eagle Music stock them: http://www.eaglemusicshop.com/prod/baritone-ukuleles/Gold-Tone-ME-Bass-Electric-Bass-Ukulele.htm
4. Bought tickets for Vulfpeck but that's ages away! Apart from that, off to see my favourite local rock band The Simpletone next weekend. Check their stuff out on iTunes and Spotify and whatnot!
5. The answer is simple - both! But if I was forced at gunpoint to choose one, it would be a PJ with a J neck. J sounds cool with the pickups blended, but weak with either pickup soloed. It can't touch the meatiness of a fine P.
6. Maybe if you get the USB camera connection kit - I think it supports most USB audio devices. I was just wondering yesterday if I could use one to hook up my PJB Bighead with my iPad!
7. Not tried the Stagg but it's hard to beat the Polytune for readability: http://youtu.be/v41aNTTs_VI The Polytune mini is just as readable too, but if readability takes precedence over size, get the full sized one! I have a Polytune Mini Noir that I want to upgrade to the v2 for the new strobe mode, if you're after a mini one and not bothered about strobe mode I'll do you a deal!
8. I think Marcus has switched to Dunlop super bright steels. Worth trying them out as they are cheaper (than the usual DR price that is, not your lucky £21 purchase)! If they are good enough for Marcus...
9. http://www.ovnilab.com/ Not listed there, but the TC Electronic Spectracomp has so many adjustable parameters via the app and downloadable presets it should be able to cop any compressor tone you could imagine. It's also one of the cheapest on the market!
10. What a massive knob!
11.
... and further variant colour tones at Musician's Friend ... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/epiphone-limited-edition-jack-casady-blue-royale-bass-guitar
That's the same one this thread is about unless there are any others on the site I can't see?
12. Surely that needs a white pickup!
13. Thinking of swapping mine out too but prefer the look of the Hipshot, plus it's cheaper. Also I hear stories about having to file down the flanges on the Babicz to get it to sit flush on the body when fitting it to an Epi TBird Classic Pro?
14. Thanks! Any idea if those resistance values might have to change depending on if a passive bass vs buffered signal is going in?
15. I have an idea I'd like to run past some of you seasoned DIY-ers... I have some dirt pedals that don't play nice with high output basses, so I thought I could remedy this by modifying a spare 1590a true-bypass loop pedal that I have with an adjustable volume control or input pad on the send output. What would be best way would be to do this? Perhaps the simplest approach would be a 3-way toggle switch, with one position unaffected, and the other two placing a resistor between signal and ground? Perhaps socketed so I could experiment with values, or use mini trimpots? Not sure what values to use, I expect it would vary depending on if the signal was buffered beforehand? e.g. Ernie Ball have a 250k volume pedal for passive instruments and a 25k one for actives.
16. Good luck, let us know how it goes. If I recall correctly my old stock HTC One worked with a USB DAC so you might strike it lucky!
17. If you are after a thick sounding 4-string, I have never experienced a 'thicker' sound than what I am getting from my newly acquired Epiphone Thunderbird Classic Pro IV. Neck through, solid mahogany and Gibson pickups. This bass is going nowhere!
18. Not far from me so I'll pay them a visit one day. I'm not sure I get the name though... BASS IS I assume it's play on words of 'basis' (rather than ISIS).
19.
If you have flux don't bother with Turnado. If you don't have either get Flux Moog do the filtron app which you can use in audiobus to create some interesting stuff
Thanks. Apple need to improve the search on the app store... looking for filter or envelope filter shows hardly anything!
20.
Not got turnado. Will have to check it out
Never heard of that one either, will check it out! I've not been impressed enough with anything available on iOS so far to warrant replacing my pedals so far (drive/dist/fuzz and filters are the most important to me). Has anyone managed to find a decent envelope filter yet? The Mutron in Jamup/Bias (can't remember which) didn't even trigger for me, and the one in Tonestack wasn't too great either. I know digital filters can be great if done properly, the Xerograph, Manta, and Fwonkbeta are all excellent. EDIT: Turnado has lots of filter options, and they make a WOW filter box too, downloaded both for a play later...
21. My first bass was a fretless, 6 months later I was gigging it. I say go for it!
22.
It's about the only bass from the Epiphone/Gibson catalogue I'd look to buy. There was a second had one in a my local music shop and I was very tempted to buy it.
I got an Epi Classic Pro Thunderbird recently, the neck through one with the Gibson pups. Sounds absolutely stupendous, I'd give one a go even if you're not into the looks!
23. I was gassing for one of the limited edition white ones for a while but it seems they're now all out of stock! Oh well, one might turn up used one day or they might come out with an even funkier custom colour option (not the Union Jack version)!
24. It might work straight out of the box, Android does support USB audio devices but it varies from phone to phone. I'd bet that most standard phone ROMs would not support it. Any old male-micro-USB to female regular USB OTG cable should work, PM me your details and I can send you one I no longer need (new Nexus 5X has USB type C!). If it doesn't work then it might do if you replace the ROM with a 3rd party one like Cyanogenmod. My old S3 (non mini) with a custom ROM worked with a USB sound card I tested anyhow! No special apps required, just plugged it in an all audio went to it.
