3db
The decibel scale is based on a Logarithmic scale, not a linear scale. An increase of 3dB represents a noticeable doubling in the volume, so a 1dB gain may well be audible for most people, but most wouldn't really realise it (unless they have sensitive hearing). For example, a 50w guitar amp is rated at 100dB, where a 100w guitar amp is rated at 103dB. Although the Wattage rating is doubled, the dB rating is only 3dB, but the 100w amp will be twice as loud.
The 100W amp will not be twice as loud, for that you'd be looking for 400W and hope your speakers don't melt before you reach that volume increase!
3. The Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass V Active has a very wide neck, not sure about the depth though! 51mm at the nut, it's like a bleedin' six-string!
4. Bought a pedal from Adam yesterday and received it this morning, can't ask for better than that! Cheers!
5. I'll take it, PM incoming...
6. The gold pickguard looks great on these (on sunburst or blonde that is, not fiesta red!), and that's coming from someone who hates gold. I was just going to suggest buying this road worn neck, but it looks like you're already sorted! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/271884-neck-from-a-fender-50s-roadworn-series-precision-bass
7. I am tempted to buy this and scrape the letter B off of the headstock!

9. Certainly, and for your budget you could buy a Harley Benton 51 Precision, normal Precision, Jazz, and a Stingray!
10. 50s Classics are wider and thicker than the standard Squier and Fender jobs. I bought (and then sold) one for £350 in mint condition a couple of years ago (but admittedly not seen them that cheap since, the RRP has gone up since also). It was the best sounding, most resonant P I've ever played (I've owned a Squier VM, Roadworn and a couple of US Standards), but I just couldn't get on with the nut width as I have small hands!
11. Looks like a great pedal! Bassists mostly just talk about Russian / Civil War muffs, but with the bass EQ I can see this being very popular. Now I wanna try one...
12.
I had the same issue when I first bought my 34" scale Yamaha Bb. I tried a few different string manufacturers & gauges & finally settled on D'Addario with a 135 B. I have limited experience with 5's but it now feels & plays great & the difference in tone is minimal. In short I guess you just have to find the right strings for it.
Funnily enough I went back to D'Addarios on my BB and the irony is that's what comes fitted out of the factory (although probably a 130 not 135)! Next string change though will be Dunlop Super Bright Nickels, I've heard great things about them and word on the street is if you like D'Addario nickels you'll love these.
13. I thought a Stingray already had a similar profile to a Precision (and a Sterling more slim like a Jazz)? If your P with a J style neck is too thin, you either want to go for a standard P (42mm at the nut) or the fatter vintage style P neck (more like 47mm). The Matt Freeman is quite slim as P's go. If you want a chunky maple neck you should check out the Classic 50s, Road Worn or the Steve Harris sig (or American Vintage line but thats $). Are there any shops on the Isle of Wight where you can demo some?
14. Just seen this elsewhere (http://interestingengineering.com/acoustic-instrument-yaybahar-creates-the-most-incredible-sounds-you-will-hear-today) and was about to post before it turned up in a search. Bump for awesomeness!
15.
I principally use fuzz, phaser, reverse delay, chorus, pooper.
I bet that sounds crap! Are you dead set on a rack? Lots of people are turning their backs on rack setups these days to go the iPad route. Easier to tweak, less to carry, tons more flexibility and cheap to upgrade. Certainly worth investigating if you haven't even considered it! Apps such as BIAS FX, BIAS Pedal, and BIAS Amp already offer more than many rack units. If you happen to already have an iDevice you are halfway there, you just need a £65 interface and some apps from the store. Check this blog out for starters: http://www.tayste.co.uk/2014/02/24/the-ios-bassist-pt1-an-introduction/
16. Thanks, I was thinking of getting some of the PJBs, so that's saved me some dough!
17. Team Awesome Fuzz Machine - there's one in the classifieds too!
18. I very nearly picked that up myself! Rehousing and adding a volume knob to my Mini Q is on my to-do list!
19. It's one of the best filters I've ever used! Very versatile indeed. It's a bit quackier than the Q-Trons, i.e. the attack time is quicker - which works really well for faster playing, but I feel the slower response of the Q-Trons, paired with the fact they are warmer/dirtier, makes them more vocal and expressive. I have pondered moving on the Mu as I don't play it as much as the Mini Q and it's worth a decent wedge - but I'll probably end up keeping all of them!
20.
Here's what came with the pedal, I got it from Thomann so I can plug it straight into an EU to UK adapter and into the mains, works a treat.
I can see just out of shot that yours has a logo next to the Mutron text. Mine doesn't, but I always thought it was supposed to since the text is off centre!
21. I got an old big box Q-Tron recently. More Mutron like and less distorted than the Mini Q-Tron, but out of all of them I think the Mini Q is still my favourite. Will do some deciding this weekend to see if I want to hang on to the Mutron 3X or not!
22. I answered on your TB thread - but your pedal is probably fine if it's silent on a battery, I would try an alternative power supply!
