1.
I haven't used either, but for me Darkglass Duality is perfect. A lovely rich fuzz that can be as bassy or trebly as you want.
He's after CHEAP pedals though!
2. On a budget you'd be hard pressed to do better than a Boss ODB-3 and an EHX Bass Big Muff if it's fuzz you're after rather than light overdrive - for which I would steer you to a Hardwire CM-2, EHX Glove or Bass Soul Food.. the Joyo Pure Sky is also an option, supposed to be a Timmy clone with more bass!
3. More bargains: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-usa-flash-sale
4. All ears are different of course, but I thought those three all sounded pretty different, and the Blueberry absolutely slayed the other two! Within one minute of playing with each, I knew that I would sell on the Beta and HGBM, and that I would never ever sell the Bearfoot.
5. A P/J sounds great with both pickups blended, but I think a soloed J bridge pup sounds a bit weak. A P/MM (with the MM in the sweet spot right up close to the P) doesn't sound as good blended but it does give you a more usable soloed bridge pickup. Options - add a coil split switch to the MM to give you just the south coil - this should sound close to the single coil J and perhaps blend better with the P. Especially if you use that funky Delano pickup that is half J and half MM. Or, what I would love to do, but would ideally need an unrouted body as a blank canvas - 70s position J + sweet spot MM + reverse P!
6. I see you're now rocking the Blueberry! This should be mandatory on every bassist's board!
7. I also wonder what the Suhr Buffer is bringing to the table when you already have plenty of buffers already in the form of the G30, Thumpinator, Wonderlove (switchable), Empress (if it's always on) and Tech21?
8. Not ideal for someone trying to sell a Ray4 though!
9. You'll want a DPDT on-on-on switch for that - I have a diagram somewhere, I'll post it up later!
10. You on Facebook? Someone on one of the bass selling groups (not sure which, there are 3 or 4!) was looking for one of these yesterday!
11. Hi Andrew, PM coming your way!
12. If you happen to already own an iPhone/iPad, the Line6 Sonic Port is what I would go with. All of the other cheap multis have infuriating interfaces, I'd much rather touch and swipe on a nice screen, plus there's so much more you can do with it.
13. EMG Geezer Butler sigs get a lot of love, and they come with a solderless harness so you can transplant without soldering and potentially harming the resale value of a vintage instrument!
14. Ah, I think I may have made a mistake there, this is a 2-band! Thanks.
15. I got a red tort Precision plate from these guys for £4.37 delivered... the tort is nowhere near as nice as the picture though, very dark and dull. Cheapest on the net though! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/260889298413?roken=cUgayN
