Yes try that. Dont hit reply, if it is Phishing, that is what they want you to do. Hope its for real :-)
Nah, just reply! Only worry if the email you are replying to or any links in the email do not belong to fender.com. Looks legit to me.

I found the Small Stone a bit too dark and switched to the standard Phase 90. Both are great options though, no low end loss with either!

Status Graphite neck on Stingray. Increased toppy/mid growl?
dannybuoy replied to Shockwave's topic in General Discussion
Check out this video: http://youtu.be/mFVcVg_nbBc A few different MM type basses there, the Status necked Stingray sounds very growly compared to the others - but that Alusonic eats them all for breakfast! Not sure of the exact specs of out but from another of his videos I saw it has an Aguilar OPB-1 pre. -
P bass pickup advice: '95 Korean Squier v Classic Vibe '60s
dannybuoy replied to lownote's topic in Bass Guitars
If you have the wiring loom from the CV, can't you just transplant that into the new bass without having to solder anything? Depends if there is a channel routed for the pickup wires, some Precisions just have a hole drilled. -
Not sure why they aren't so popular, but they do still exist! http://www.purple-chili.com/iceni-zoot/

And Prymaxe, you get a discount if you ask them too!

That is nice - I hear pau ferro makes a really growly sound for fretless too!

From your description it sound like you definitely want the Vintage Deluxe. The B7K can be made to sound warm, but it's definitely more at home as a bright / scooped / cutting kinda sound, whereas the Vintage is just vintage warm loveliness.
is there anything out there that is cheaper than a mu tron that does the funk almost as good? I've tried EHX q-tron, horrible, Dod 25fb sucks tone any really good squelchy filter available today to actually buy in a shop, not some rare boutique pedal where there was only ever 3 made by some guy in a garage in wisconsin, and even then it was unreliable and you cant get the chips anymore and ....... ie off the shelf instant Funk, without searching on ebay for months to get 'that' pedal... i don;t want hassle I just want to FUNK!!!
Which Q-Tron did you try? The new ones aren't great, but the old big box one and the seemingly-mistitled-because-it's-massive old Mini Q-Tron are a different kettle of fish. I prefer my Mini Q-Tron to my TruTron 3X (which is widely regarded to be a pretty much bang on clone of the original Mutron 3 with extra features). The old Q-Trons were designed by Mike Beigel of Mutron too!

best pick up configuration and pre-amp for fretless?
dannybuoy replied to zawinul's topic in Bass Guitars
I always preferred Precisions when it came to fretless, but after hearing a fretless Stingray, that is what I'd choose next: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnnewhuLuj8 -
And unlike most 2-ohm amps that only put out their maximum power at 2 ohms, this one might put out the same max power at 4 ohms due to the Orange-Terror-Bass-style impedance switch on the back!

Advice on getting that 'Gallien Krueger' tone at bedroom vols
dannybuoy replied to goonieman's topic in Bass Guitars
JohnK_10 from Talkbass and Frank Appleton from FEA Labs co-designed an overdrive that simulates a GK amp. Entire thread is here: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/gk-rails-in-a-pedal.1122467/ John's site: http://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/index.html If you email him, he should build you one! I would give the MXR M82 a go for this. Not dead on but can sound pretty vowel like, kinda like Bon Jovi's Livin' On A Prayer! Just tried it for myself and it good enough to fool most of the audience!

My 415 had a satin finish and my 1025X has either a very thin finish or no finish at all, hard to tell!
I really like the BB Pre, but it was always a little bit lacking in the mids for me. Si
Never had that problem, with the EQ set flat (as I always have it) it sounds like it boosts the mids to my ears, certainly makes it more prominent in the mix with it on! Same goes for the Blower Box, the reason it sounds scooped in many demos is because the bass and treble controls are usually set to be boosted.

Getting a Jazz Bass to sound like a Musicman
dannybuoy replied to joshua.harris1234's topic in Bass Guitars
I saw a bass on Youtube where the owner had sandwiched an MM pickup between the Jazz pickups. It was slightly north of the MM sweet spot, but I reckon it should be possible to get it spot on with a Jazz with a 70s position bridge pickup to give a bit more room. -

What's the fan noise like on this? That's one thing that bugs me about some amps, quietness of the fan seems to not be a design goal for some. I've no problem with it blaring full speed at a gig, but when practicing at home and the thing is barely warm, a noisy fan is most unwelcome. It made me return my TH500 for example, it used to kick in really noisily after 10 minutes of play!
-
Ah, but plenty of us have used the VT Bass DI into another amp, and can extrapolate that this new amp would probably sound very similar but without the option of disabling the speaker sim!

I have a Squier CV Jazz neck in my posession that I want to turn into a cheap bitsa P-Bass, so I've been looking at the best cheap way to get my hands on a good looking 3-tone sunburst P body. J&D have a P and a PJ, both a supposedly 3TS, but as you can see look very different in the stock photos: http://www.dv247.com...unburst--201745 http://www.dv247.com...unburst--201881 It's the more orangey colour of the PJ I'm after but would prefer a straight P. Has anyone seen these basses in the flesh that can confirm if these stock pics are representative of the actual colours?
