1. Name for the band: All Basses Covered
2. I played the Billy Sheehan for 5 minutes and put it back up for sale. My advice would be to steer clear unless you want your bass to sound like a tinny guitar with no low end!
3. I've tried nearly every single bass overdrive on the planet, and the only one that gives me that feeling you describe of playing in front of a cranked amp is the Bearfoot Blueberry. Amazing pedal!
4. Well I Googled it and it turns out he is quite the producer after all: http://www.spin.com/2015/03/101-best-kanye-west-produced-songs-that-dont-feature-kanye/ Doesn't change the fact he's massive dickhead though.
5. Saw you guys play in St Ives a couple of months ago, top band!
6. A good starting point is attack set to boost, grunt set to fat, slight bass/lo-mid boost and slight hi-mid/treble rolloff, gain 11 o'clock, blend 1 o'clock. I pretty much leave mine there!
7. Orange Terror is a really good match for the B3K too, it's a dark sounding amp which helps tame the brightness of the pedal.
8. W*nk ET, yes? Sweaty Ken?
9. Sharper, crisper, more definition? I concur with the Darkglass B3K (or B7K) suggestion. It doesn't have more drive than the ODB-3 though, but I don't think there is a pedal that does. The Boss is a high gain monster!
10. Sounds like it mutes a bit too much for my liking from the videos and seems to be non adjustable. I think I would prefer to splash out the extra on the Bassmute, or not bother and stick with a sponge.
11.
Kanye smashed it. The haters ain't ever gonna "get it". Pure Kanye last night. Just him in the light. Piled on all of the hits right from the gun. Loved it. This is music 2015 style.
12.
No matter how many times I read that, I have absolutely NO CLUE what it means!
This: http://basschat.co.u...-feedback-mods/ I chose B3K. Even though it's blend is flawed too IMHO! Moreso on the B7K though, since that is the kind of pedal that you might wish to use direct into a power amp, but you can't get enough juice out of it because the volume control only affects the dirt level! With the right bass/rig, the B*K sounds amazing for modern/agressive sounds and there's nothing like it. Rats are cool, I love my Blower Box, but if having to choose one I'd probably have to select the Darkglass.
13. I bought the same covers. I just took a file to my pickguard to make it fit, screws still went in even though they were slightly wider. Bosh.
14. Not tried one but have contemplated ordering a pre-built one from VFE. I'm pretty happy with my Bearfoot Blueberry though and would recommend either that or the Catalinbread SFT (later generation which is brighter) for that application if you haven't tried those out.
15. The Beta has a big dollop of bass boost (too much if you ask me) and rolls off a lot of top end (again, too much for me!). The distortion character is a bit more raspy, whereas the Hooker's Green sounds smoother, more like tube distortion. Bump!
16. I did the same thing recently! Ended up keeping the MXR Bass Envelope Filter, Mini (older not-so-mini big box, not the newer Micro) Q-Tron and TruTron 3X. I did not get on with the Enigma either. The Wonderlove was probably the most disappointing of the bunch I went through. I had an older Proton many years ago, I liked it but sold it, it was too long ago to properly compare against the ones I tried recently but I reckon I would choose that over the Enigma and Wonderlove any day. The Groove Regulator was the best 3Leaf filter I tried, I'd love to try a GR2 some day too.
17. I went to see a local semi-successful band play their final gig in a local medium-large sized venue. The first half was ruined by the fact the lead guitar was silent, the vocals were too quiet, and the bass was feeding back for the entire duration, killing the rest of the sound. Absolutely shocking and the worst live sound I've ever heard and my friend and I were looking at each other in disbelief and slagging off the sound men (there were two). I felt really sorry for the band as their final gig had been ruined, but nobody else we mentioned it to had noticed whatsoever and the crowd really seemed to enjoy it!!!
18. But have you actually tried to install it? The vast majority of Windows 7 drivers work on Windows 8 even if the manufacturer doesn't state support for it (unless they have specifically said it does not work). If it contains an OS version check, right click on the installer, go to properties, compatibility settings and set it to Windows 7 mode - this will fool the installer into thinking you have 7 installed and can help in some cases.
19. My mini noir works perfect on the low B - just not in polyphonic mode, but none of the others work in polyphonic mode on bass either on the mini.
20. Anyone else read the thread title and thought someone had uploaded a clip of the Polytune? To be fair it does make some electronic noise when active and using a daisy chain power supply. I could make a clip if you like.
21. When I get some free time I intend to upgrade the pots in my Warwick Rockbass Streamer, which oddly comes with 25K pots wired up to 2 humbuckers, all passive. No wonder it sounds crap when plugged straight in (but awesome when boosted/EQed with various pedals).
22. The volume control oh the Diabolik is ridiculous, unity gain is just above the knob's minimum position. I'm not fussed about the position so much but more the fact that it's so sensitive around this spot and very tricky to dial in - the tiniest movement is the difference between not loud enough and too loud!
