1. Sold pending payment.
2. I had the same issue with the Aguilar Tonehammer. Fan was off for 15 minutes then all of a sudden sounds like a vacuum cleaner when the amp wasn't even warm. It is possible to design a cooling system that uses quieter fans and comes on gradually, only speeding up when really needed. But it seems many amp manufacturers don't prioritise this and use cheap noisy fans with very basic control systems. Lots of people use the same micro amp for home practice and recording that they do for gigging, so hopefully future amps will pay more attention to fan noise in future!
3.
a decent bit of grit when I need it that isn't wild and noisy, but preferably warm and vintage.
Darkglass Vintage Deluxe! And I can vouch that it sounds great with a P-Bass and an OTB.
4. Cheap deals on Sonuus gear: http://shop.sonuus.com Also 21% off at Prymaxe with code BLACK21.
5. Prymaxe Black Friday discount code?
6. Hi, sorry but haven't checked the post for a while and don't receive any alerts when people respond! Will respond to your PM shortly.
7. And there's one in the classifieds!
8. Top mounted jacks are the way forward. Those Iron Ether pedals mounted up snug next each other take up the same amount of space as two micros with side mounted jacks, with more room for knobs and PCBs, and more stable on the board.
9. Whilst you're on the thread Mr Ashdown representative! How similar tonally is the CTM-15 to the CTM-100? I know they are pretty different internally. One thing I didn't like about the CTM-15 was that the gain knob added a lot of treble - I always ran it at minimum or just above zero as a result. Does the CTM-100 act like this too?
10. An interesting read: http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/nov/17/steve-albinis-keynote-address-at-face-the-music-in-full And what he had to say on the matter 20 years ago (might be worth reading this one first!): http://www.thebaffler.com/salvos/the-problem-with-music And, just because we're talking about Steve Albini, a letter he wrote to Nirvana that was posted on here a while back! http://imgur.com/a/p0tKn
11. Bump - price drop to £60 posted!
12. Good condition, a few tiny marks on the paint, velcro on the bottom. [s]£50[/s] £45 posted!
13. Great tuner, just moved on to a Polytune mini these days as it's smaller. A couple of scratches on the plastic screen but otherwise in great condition - velcro on the bottom. £20 posted - SOLD
14. I keep doing this, buying fuzz pedals that are really fun to play but I ultimately won't use in a classic rock setting! I had one of these a long time ago and loved it but thought it could do with a clean blend to add a bit more low end... so when this one came up for sale recently on BC I nabbed it quick as an impulse buy! And the blend does make it infinitely more useful on bass. I'm after the same price I paid which is £100 posted. 15. This question gets asked often and the general consensus is it does sound different, but only very slightly. The J pup and additional pot are still presenting a load to the P pup which alters its response a little. You could always fit a push/pull pot to remove the J pup and pot from the circuit entirely though!
16.
I'm not sure you have enough preamp-DIs!
Me neither, there's room for a Tonehammer on there!
17. Am I the only one that thinks it sounds crap then? Not much low end even with the low knob cranked!
18.
We have music available from bandcamp and while it's a useful resource, IMO it's all a bit too "indie Ghetto" for a lot of people. Ordinary fans prefer something a bit more familiar like iTunes or Amazon. And any band that hopes for a decent sized audience is going to have to go with the m ore mainstream sources for downloads. This shown by the fact that it is possible to download our latest EP for free from Bandcamp, but to get it from iTunes or Amazon you have pay. We have more downloads from the iTunes and Amazon than we do from Bandcamp.
'Indie ghetto'? I think that term could also apply to most people's bands! True, it's usually only proper music fans that support and buy music from smaller unsigned bands that have come across it. Nearly all the bands I see live, or recommendations I get from forums / social media / friends all sell (or give away) their stuff on there. For those that don't actively seek out new music only get to hear about new bands passively from radio or TV, who have likely already been signed to big labels, they will probably not have heard of it. But any band should release on as many platforms as possible to maximise their potential sales. I feel Bandcamp provides a much better experience than the big name online stores. It feels like a more personalised experience, more like you're buying directly from the band and hence more of the profits going to them - true or not, it's a big reason why given the choice, I will buy from here. Another reason is that I can download music without having to install any software - one of the reasons I avoid iTunes. I had bought an MP3 album from Amazon recently and was appalled that I had to install some crappy downloader tool just to get my hands on the goods! I prefer my stuff in lossless format and this is the only place that offers it - far quicker, cheaper, easier and less wasteful than ordering a CD just to rip it!
19. Chrome updated today, videos now launch the YouTube app when clicked. On the other hand, I can no longer reply to any threads on Talkbass (Basschat is fine)!
20. It's been several years since I dabbled, but the PSP Vintage Warmer was one of my favorite plugins, I'd check out what they've put out since then! And for synths, I liked NI Absynth and the Rob Papen stuff.
21. You can ask him about the forthcoming internal active bass preamp! I asked over on TB if we would be seeing a retail version of the Darkglass preamp used in the new Dingwall NG2 bass. He said it's in the works and will be called the B2M - to which I warned him about the Sonuus B2M bass-to-MIDI converter! And to thank me for giving him the heads up on that, he's going to send me a t-shirt and one of the prototypes, what a dude!
22. Listening to the end of that second song, I can get pretty close to that with my Darkglass Vintage Deluxe. It's a great pedal for adding drive but with clarity, whereas some other pedals can over compress the lows and make everything sound woolly.
23.
In 2007 I had a warning for using the word 'tits' on TB
TITS
