1. I nearly always have a mild overdrive on, so that's my compressor!
2. Then again if you are playing with flats and want a warmer sound, rosewood is the way to go. I like ebony but can't stand ebanol, it feels like plastic and sounds rather harsh.
3.
Oh my god, how righteous is that bass tone! Fantastic I wonder what kind of bass that is, a bitsa Stingray-a-like or a custom build? What a band!
I gleaned from an interview with Joe Dart that it's some random cheap entry-level bass with a ceramic MM pup and TI flats, he didn't mention active or passive. It inspired me to buy Hamfist's modified Westone Thunder with P and MM pickups, which is now also wearing TIs and can get similar sounds!
4. Lol, just a shameless plug as I'm selling one! Most of the Devi Ever pedals I've ever heard sounded pretty wild on guitar but not that well suited for use on bass. The TAFM is still the benchmark for me. There's not really any demos out there that do it justice, but it's the fuzz I'll never get rid of!
5.
always on the look out for a a cool fuzz pedal!
Have you tried the ZVEX Mastotron?
6. And in the video I saw the MIM sounded by far the worst. However, they are supposed to have much better pickups these days and that could've been an older one. Really the best way is to try and get to a shop and play both! EDIT: Actually it was the Precision video where the MIM sounded appalling. In that Jazz comparison, the first USA bass was really bright sounding, then the MIM, MIJ and maple MIA all sounded pretty similar.
7. Phase issues only present themselves if the signal is split into two and one of them goes out of phase before they are recombined. I don't see any of that going on here unless you have either both pedals in the loop of a blender, or you are running them in the fx loop of an amp that puts the loop in parallel (like a Markbass).
8. Click 'full version' at the bottom if you're on the mobile site: Location: Coimbra, Portugal
9. By the way those Jamerson strings are REALLY heavy. Like suspension bridge cable heavy. You might be better off with a lower guage!
10. They should be as funky as possible.
11. Fixed it for ya: https://www.flickr.com/photos/101838836@N05/
12. Withdrawn... for the amount this costs it's worth keeping!
13.
Ive just read on a hold thread from talkbass.that the weight is 10lbs
No two basses weigh the same btw, unless that old thread was about your actual bass!
14. A bit extreme I know, but still a better pedal than the original!
15. Indeed. Is there something you don't like about it and you want something totally different, or do you just fancy a bit of a change and want something very similar? Without anything else to go on you'll just get lots of random suggestions like CamdenRob's!
16. The black ash look on Sandbergs is my fave all time finish.
17. Search for 'battery powered amps' on here and there's quite a few options - this one looks good in particular as you could amplify a whole band and it comes with a built in trolley as well as costing peanuts: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Qtx-QR10PA-portable-PA/dp/B009L4KZ8I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373654107&sr=8-1&keywords=qtx+qr10pa
18. No, but always hankered after a stealth bitsa Jazz! I have a stealth Gibson SG guitar too but I never use it so will be offloading that soon!
19. They are 30p but if you are in a hurry and don't have the correct change you can go for free by just pulling the turnstile towards you just enough to pass through (and I'm not small)!
20. Should be £10 - £15 but will get a proper quote tomorrow - need to box it and weigh it first, I'll do so tomorrow!
