1. I emailed Sounds Great on Saturday as their site was showing one in stock - they told me they had one coming in on Monday, and that all the EHX dealers would only be getting one each as they were in short supply. I guess that's what EHX told him after selling them all to HotRox!
2. Could only squeeze in 10 minutes to test it this afternoon, but the verdict is a thumbs up! The 'bottom end' mode is very bassy, but sounds much better played with a pick, somehow the sharper attack triggers the sound better and make the organ sound much fuller. There are a few mild tracking issues, I only tested with a 4-string passive P and for some reason a low A generated a slight warbling sound in the low end yet the top end of the organ was still nice and clean. It's as if there is a POG-like digital octave up which is stable but with a tiny bit of latency, mixed with a less stable but instant traditional octave down going on. Low E to G were perfectly fine though. I have a feeling a brighter bass with more attack like a stingray would suit this pedal more, that'll be the next test, as well as the 5-string BB. Playing dry droning root notes, then kicking on the pedal and chucking in some upper chord notes was a lot fun! Favorite modes were the first, 'fat and full', and the last, 'bell organ', which was a surprise as that was the model I liked least on the demo video. And before anyone asks, sorry, too busy to sit down and explore it more today and tomorrow, let alone record clips! I'm free Thursday evening though so maybe then!
3. Mine should be arriving any time now. I am at work, but I work from home, sat right next to my bass amp!
4. Just ordered mine from HotRox - they have 21 left in stock if you're quick! http://www.hotroxuk.com/electro-harmonix-the-b9-organ-machine.html
5. Are you dropping the low string from E standard all the way to C? If so that's a big drop - try tuning to D standard and drop to C from there.
6. Haim are on the BBC Glasto coverage right now!
7.
what is that weird thing with sliders? Not seen one before
EHX POG: http://www.ehx.com/products/pog
8. Until they return, Tanglewood is your next cheapest option at £200: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/TanglewoodSundance.html
9. There's a Markbass TTE500 for sale on here that might tick the boxes. Simple controls, great one-knob compressor, and whilst I've not heard one myself, plenty of people rate them above all the similar hybrid heads like the Orange, GK MB Fusion, Streamliner, etc. I currently use the Orange but am interested in giving the TTE500, Aguilar TH500 or GK MB Fusion 500 a try at some point.
10. £165 at all these places: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=b9+organ+machine&tbm=shop
11. Yes, it was the worst wah I have ever used! Couldn't get a smooth action out of it, had a rather sharp transition, and just didn't sound very good in general.
12. I don't get why some people withdraw things when they don't sell quickly? Why not just leave it up here until it goes - someone might eventually come along searching for one!
13. I though Dr Dre made the best headphones? After all, he is a doctor.
14. Envy Waits your band? They sound awesome, I'll try and make it!
15.
our production team will retrace The FUNK Machine’s whereabouts using the latest resources and technological advances.
I wonder what these 'latest technological advances' are that they will use to locate the bass? And will they then pass this technology onto the police force so that they can end all theft? Short of having drones flying into every home armed with X-Ray scanners looking for the hidden carving, I'm not quite sure how they plan on pulling this one off.
16. If you're in the midlands then I'd check out Bass Direct!
17. Seen this one for sale? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/239277-fender-american-vintage-75-reissue-avri-natural-ash-jazz-bass-body
18.
My 35-string Ray by Sub by Sterling by Music Man by Ernie Ball is good though.
I'm sure it's good, but sounds more like a harp to me!
19. http://www.talkbass.com/threads/polar-pedals.1084862/ Highlight the text in the post for the easter egg!
20. Indeed! Check the date of the post: http://www.absolutem...-un-tune-pedals However, I found these browsing the online store - not usual for an April fool to still be hanging around in the shop catalog 3 months later! Might have to post these on Talkbass to wind those yanks up!
21. Played a white one in Wunjo's today, it sounded immense. The guy told me the 3rd switch was a bass cut, but as said above it may have been a series/parallel switch! I see one of these in my future - hopefully they become a permanent part of the lineup with the occasional funky coloured FSRs!
22. These pedals seem to do the impossible! The Lo-Fi Sponge can supposedly turn a distorted, delayed, reverbed signal back to dry again. The idea being you can put it at the end of your chain and quickly go back to clean at any time (why not just use a bypass loop?): http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/polar-lo-fi-sponge-pedal.html The UnTune on the other hand, has vocal presets to morph your voice into Bob Dylan our Michael Buble! http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/polar-lo-fi-un-tune-pedal.html
23.
Careful, PA speaker = big magnet = trashed data storage on your tablet. I too am interested in a set list app and have found "Setlist helper and songbook" on Play. Only read the details so far but keen to see if it does what I need it to
Tablets don't use hard drives so aren't susceptible to magnets like older floppy and hard disks.
24. Looks like EHX just nailed the organ-in-a-box: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98u-MDTKAWU Sign me up!
