1.
This is my current bass pedalboard, which features my usual bass pedals on the bottom row and my 'fake guitar' sound on the top, to emulate the Royal Blood tone. This is what it sounds like!
Awesome! Now I have pitch shifter GAS. Full rundown here: http://adamflanagan.wordpress.com/2014/07/19/royal-blood-out-of-the-black-bass-cover/
2. The Terror Bass only had a valve pre, so no problem turning up the gain and keeping the master down if you want dirt at low volume levels. The fan on it is noisy though, so I replaced mine with a silent computer fan.
3. There's a few Orange Terror Bass heads going pretty cheaply used on here, I would perhaps start there if looking to upgrade the amp and after a warm sound!
4. Cough up an extra fiver and get this, you won't regret it: http://www.thomann.de/gb/zoom_b1on.htm 100 fx (description says 75 but you get more when you update the firmware), tuner, looper, drum machine, aux in and headphone output!
5. Look for a used VT Bass... Or import a new one from Prymaxe for £93! Much better than the BDDI / BDI21 IMHO.
6.
Can't say I have man, why do you ask? I'll check them out
Look at the bottom edge of the PCB!
7.
@yorks5stringer
Hi Spitfire, I tried emailing and sent a PM a while back but didn't get an answer - can you make a guard for a USA Standard Precision with the cut out for the truss rod access? I also wanted to see some more samples of the faded orange - I like this one above, is it faded orange with crazy 70s?
8. Wow, that's cheaper than a Squier CV!
9. I'm thinking of getting a Gold Tone Micro bass: http://www.banjosdirect.co.uk/a-new-low-goldtone-microbass-x28m-bassx29-fretted-2083-p.asp But I could always be tempted by the Harley Benton at a third of the price!
10. You could be right there, you might just need to flip the bridge piece round and job done. Compared to the Kala it looks pretty straight (which will probably mean intonation isn't great on the fretted):
11. Not easy. You might be able to swap the nut around if the slots aren't sloping downwards towards the tuners, but the intonation will be out unless you reverse the fixed bridge, which is a piece of plastic fitted tightly into an angled slot in the wood.
12. WordPress sites auto update nowadays, it's just the plugins that need to be done manually. A little disconcerting as I no longer have a chance to backup before updating, but I haven't seen any issues yet. I made this for the wife's childminding business: http://goldilockschildminding.co.uk
13. I voted orange, but after looking at the pics I now prefer that seafoam green with the white plate and rosewood board.
14. 2 to 5 days means they are not in stock so good luck! Tempted by the fretless myself...
15. Try the old "Bass is easier than guitar isn't it? I mean you've only got 4 strings."
16. Always wanted to try one, but went down the G-Lab route as I needed true bypass - I run it into a TAFM which sounds best with an unbuffered signal going in.
17. I've got a US Fender with the same 60th anniversary metal badge on the back of the headstock - it has different tuners to that one though!
18. Are you on Facebook? Someone's looking for one of these here: https://www.facebook...89090051102626/ I posted the link to this page on there as a comment.
19. Hmm. Go and see Pearl Jam by myself or take the wife out for her birthday?
20.
GHS Pressurewound Bass Strings: Fretless at 4.40 Lovely strings, mmwah, warmth and not too high tension. Won't eat up your board as they are relatively smooth. Loved them on a fretless that I had and I will be getting another set when my current defret is ready.
That's the first time I've heard someone sing whilst trying to demo their strings!
21. I bought the Mono and returned it because the backing wasn't grippy enough, it's the same slippery mesh material used on the front of it. I went back to using my standard Levys black leather strap with suede backing that I bought in a guitar shop years ago for about £15! http://www.hotroxuk.com/levys-m1-blk-2-5-inch-leather-guitar-strap-black.html http://omegamusic.co.uk/buy/levys-2.5-black-leather-guitar-strap
22. A tip for the TAFM: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/team-audio-fuzz-machine-tafm-buffer-dip-switches.1066117/
23. So far a very nice price for a very nice bass - if it's legit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1978-Fender-Precision-Fretless-Bass-SUPERB-condition-/151343153888?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item233cc142e0
24. I found the Your Doom to be a disappointment. Couldn't really get a good sound from it, although plenty of people seem to like it! One thing is, I think that whole thing about it being so dynamic is so overblown, I found it made pretty much the same sound no matter how hard I plucked. The Duality had some great sounds in it, but ultimately I was annoyed by the fact it did not have a gain control. I found some of the best sounds from it by turning down the volume on the bass. Neither could shake the Team Awesome Fuzz Machine from its throne! Best bass fuzz of all time if you ask me!
