Gated Fuzz

smallsound/bigsound make the TAFM by the way! It's my favourite fuzz but I'm not a huge fan of the gated mode since it maxes out the gain when engaged. Didn't think of the BBM Deluxe - does anyone know if the gate can be used to get abrupt staccato sounds, or is it more designed to reduce noise?
2.
Anyone know what this 'resonator' is all about. Are these cabs actually sealed?
I'm guessing it's either some kind of fancy folded port or a passive radiator of some sort. Or just a regular port with a fancy name. Who knows until Alex chimes in! He's been active on the Talkbass 69'er club thread so I'm sure he'll be along shortly!
3. After trying out a few phasers and setting on the MXR Phase 90, this is up for grabs: NUX Phaser Core A very nice digital phaser, it's stereo, with relay based soft-touch true bypass and you can even save your favourite preset in the T-Lock position. Very versatile phaser, one mode is cold and digital, the other warm and analog sounding. Excellent condition, comes with box and instructions. £20 posted - SOLD
4. £365 new inc delivery: http://www.musik-produktiv.co.uk/ampeg-portaflex-pf-210he.html You could post a wanted ad rather than waiting for one to turn up, you never know!
5. I didn't realise the Knightfall has different clipping options - is the switch inside the pedal?
6. Well that Dunlop might let you hook up to both at once - fine if you want to control both at once of course, but not great if you don't! I take it a TS cable doesn't work properly in the EP-3? You might be able to use a VP Jr with the Xero if you hook up an insert cable (TRS to 2x TS) to the input/output of the volume pedal.
7. Only problem with recording to mp3 on my H2 is you can't fast forward through them like you can with wav files if playing back through the device. Maybe the newer ones have a bit more processing power to handle this!
8. Also, most solder you buy nowadays is lead free and really hard to work with - there are a few places that still stock the good old lead variety though!
9. I didn't know Line6 pedals had this requirement, but a quick google showed that people are using Ernie Ball volume pedals with a regular TS patch lead to control the M9. You could try the Dunlop expression/volume pedals - they have in/out for volume and an expression output - as long as they are on separate pots, you could try hooking the expression up to the Xero and the pedal input up to the Line6? http://www.jimdunlop...t/dvp3-volume-x http://www.jimdunlop.../product/dvp1xl If that turns out to be no good and you end up having to get two exp pedals, I have a Moog EP-2 not being used that works wonderfully with the Xero!
10. Go back on the EBBM forum and tell them you replaced the pickup - that will really wind them up.
11.
UPS always falsely claim they've attempted delivery at our portcullis
#FirstWorldProblems
12. Check out the new LaBella White Nylon Tapewounds - they are roundwounds with a transparent plastic wrap, brighter than regular black nylons, and kind to your fretless board. I've not tried them myself yet but they will be the next set I try on my fretless.
13. I didn't know you could run it at 12v, but I may give it a try if I can find confirmation it's safe to do so! My Deluxe arrived this morning so I spent some time A/Bing it with the Vintage that Danbowskill's waiting for (sorry it had to be done, it will be posted to you first thing in the morning!). Bass at 1 o'clock, mid at noon and treble at 11 o'clock roughly matches the baked in EQ curve of the Vintage. Through my Ashdown CTM15 the original Vintage still sounded the best - it's a perfect match for that amp and I found no need for any EQ adjustment beyond the Era control. I got the Deluxe eq'd as closely as I could but still preferred sound of the simpler pedal. Through the much darker sounding Orange Terror Bass though, the Vintage sounded far too muddy and the Deluxe was just the ticket with the treble set to noon, giving it a slight boost over its little brother. I'm keeping the Deluxe for now, but can easily see me downscaling to save cash and board space if I switch to a different amp setup in future.
14.
I've been using myHerpes a bit recently.
MyHerpes, Sh1tty Link, ParcelFarce, Royal Fail, PooPS, Nodel, FedUp... any other good courier names?!
15. Yes - but another one of their options is called 'Interparcel Standard', who have been UPS the several times I've used them.
16. You said it yourself Jack: More bass + more mids + more treble = louder And the tradeoff is, the name is not as good.
17.
I wouldn't trust an Ampeg PF-500 with these cabs...
I wouldn't trust an Ampeg PF-500 with any cabs!
18. I use Interparcel standard, which is UPS in disguise. Their restricted items list does not mention musical instruments, but don't know if anyone ever had to make a claim from them!
19. Recently picked this up from the forum, spent a while playing it but it's not my bag. Looks brand new except for a small paint chip on one of the corners, still has the foam base and no velcro, original box and manual. £95 posted NOW SOLD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ch5ZIJgp2Q
20. Oh mama, the '69er is the cab I've always said I'd get when I next join a gigging band, this looks even better (on paper)! Not convinced the 12-ohm 2x10 is a good idea though. So running one of these with a valve amp you could choose either the 8 or 16 ohm output as they are close enough. Or with two cabs giving a 6 ohm load, you can use the 4 or 8 ohm outputs. Are all valve amps going to be happy running at a mismatched impedance like this? Not a problem for solid state amps of course, apart from not getting full power out of your amp with two cabs (you'd need 3 cabs to get down to 4 ohms). I assume the best way would be to stack them vertically like I do with my Ampeg SVT210AVs, but stacking them like that 3 high would be insane!
21. Surprised this is still here, they normally go for about tree fiddy, and that's without the bundled EQ pedal and valves!
22. Question for you gurus - does the wadding affect the internal dimensions used in calculations, or is the assumption made that the sound waves travel straight through it so it is ignored?
