1.
UPS always falsely claim they've attempted delivery at our portcullis
#FirstWorldProblems
2. Check out the new LaBella White Nylon Tapewounds - they are roundwounds with a transparent plastic wrap, brighter than regular black nylons, and kind to your fretless board. I've not tried them myself yet but they will be the next set I try on my fretless.
3. I didn't know you could run it at 12v, but I may give it a try if I can find confirmation it's safe to do so! My Deluxe arrived this morning so I spent some time A/Bing it with the Vintage that Danbowskill's waiting for (sorry it had to be done, it will be posted to you first thing in the morning!). Bass at 1 o'clock, mid at noon and treble at 11 o'clock roughly matches the baked in EQ curve of the Vintage. Through my Ashdown CTM15 the original Vintage still sounded the best - it's a perfect match for that amp and I found no need for any EQ adjustment beyond the Era control. I got the Deluxe eq'd as closely as I could but still preferred sound of the simpler pedal. Through the much darker sounding Orange Terror Bass though, the Vintage sounded far too muddy and the Deluxe was just the ticket with the treble set to noon, giving it a slight boost over its little brother. I'm keeping the Deluxe for now, but can easily see me downscaling to save cash and board space if I switch to a different amp setup in future.
4.
I've been using myHerpes a bit recently.
MyHerpes, Sh1tty Link, ParcelFarce, Royal Fail, PooPS, Nodel, FedUp... any other good courier names?!
5. Yes - but another one of their options is called 'Interparcel Standard', who have been UPS the several times I've used them.
6. I'd like to see pics! Where's Alex!
7. You said it yourself Jack: More bass + more mids + more treble = louder And the tradeoff is, the name is not as good.
8.
I wouldn't trust an Ampeg PF-500 with these cabs...
I wouldn't trust an Ampeg PF-500 with any cabs!
9. I use Interparcel standard, which is UPS in disguise. Their restricted items list does not mention musical instruments, but don't know if anyone ever had to make a claim from them!
10. Recently picked this up from the forum, spent a while playing it but it's not my bag. Looks brand new except for a small paint chip on one of the corners, still has the foam base and no velcro, original box and manual. £95 posted NOW SOLD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ch5ZIJgp2Q
11. Oh mama, the '69er is the cab I've always said I'd get when I next join a gigging band, this looks even better (on paper)! Not convinced the 12-ohm 2x10 is a good idea though. So running one of these with a valve amp you could choose either the 8 or 16 ohm output as they are close enough. Or with two cabs giving a 6 ohm load, you can use the 4 or 8 ohm outputs. Are all valve amps going to be happy running at a mismatched impedance like this? Not a problem for solid state amps of course, apart from not getting full power out of your amp with two cabs (you'd need 3 cabs to get down to 4 ohms). I assume the best way would be to stack them vertically like I do with my Ampeg SVT210AVs, but stacking them like that 3 high would be insane!
12. Surprised this is still here, they normally go for about tree fiddy, and that's without the bundled EQ pedal and valves!
13. Question for you gurus - does the wadding affect the internal dimensions used in calculations, or is the assumption made that the sound waves travel straight through it so it is ignored?
14. I didn't build this but used to own it. Walnut body, rosewood neck and ziricote board, Dark Star pickups and Audere pre: I have a hankering to build a matte black ash Jazz V with wenge neck and ebony board!
15. The BDPG is more of a light overdrive, yes. One thing it does amazingly well is adding snarl as well as bags of low end when playing with a pick. I might attempt some clips while I still have it in my possession!
16. I thought they only ever sold direct? Anyway, here's the thread for you: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/iron-ether-status.1070657/
17. I think they might be just starting up again. Taylor has been posting at Talkbass and I'm sure I saw a couple of people mention their put orders in recently. Best off trying to email him or ask around on TB.
18. Shame you missed out on this one! You never know, you could always PM to find who bought it and make them an offer! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/223464-fs-62-reissue-fender-precision-mij-sold/page__fromsearch__1
19.
Regarding its use... do any of the compressors on the MS60b work like the famous Boss LMB-3 Bass Limiter/Enhancer? That's a very good pedal and I could get a used one for a very good price, but if any of the compressor simulators in the Zoom is just as good, I wouldn't have to buy it! I'm asking because time is running short and I can't tweak around my Zoom and try for myself... so if someone already knows some good settings, please let me know! Thanks!!
The compressors are great in the new Zoom range. Probably as good as, if not better than the Boss. Only complaint is a lack of signal metering, so you have to listen carefully to dial them in.
20. I think that's the point Kev was trying to make! Not surprised to be honest, the only reason they were so expensive is because they were out of production. An original one in very good condition might be a collectors piece, but few people would be willing to pay over the odds for one if the reissues sound just as good if not better.
21. I know! But GAS knows no such thing as common sense!
22. Sorry! Trying to recoup funds after splurging on a VMT Deluxe and Duality, so looking for a cash sale only. However I could be tempted by an Empress compressor, Aguilar TH500 or GK MB Fusion as trade offers, those being the only things in my current GAS list!
