Avoid shipping anything musical with Myhermes
dannybuoy replied to itsmedunc's topic in General Discussion
I use Interparcel standard, which is UPS in disguise. Their restricted items list does not mention musical instruments, but don't know if anyone ever had to make a claim from them! -
Recently picked this up from the forum, spent a while playing it but it's not my bag. Looks brand new except for a small paint chip on one of the corners, still has the foam base and no velcro, original box and manual. £95 posted NOW SOLD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ch5ZIJgp2Q

Oh mama, the '69er is the cab I've always said I'd get when I next join a gigging band, this looks even better (on paper)! Not convinced the 12-ohm 2x10 is a good idea though. So running one of these with a valve amp you could choose either the 8 or 16 ohm output as they are close enough. Or with two cabs giving a 6 ohm load, you can use the 4 or 8 ohm outputs. Are all valve amps going to be happy running at a mismatched impedance like this? Not a problem for solid state amps of course, apart from not getting full power out of your amp with two cabs (you'd need 3 cabs to get down to 4 ohms). I assume the best way would be to stack them vertically like I do with my Ampeg SVT210AVs, but stacking them like that 3 high would be insane!

Question for you gurus - does the wadding affect the internal dimensions used in calculations, or is the assumption made that the sound waves travel straight through it so it is ignored?

I didn't build this but used to own it. Walnut body, rosewood neck and ziricote board, Dark Star pickups and Audere pre: I have a hankering to build a matte black ash Jazz V with wenge neck and ebony board!

I thought they only ever sold direct? Anyway, here's the thread for you: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/iron-ether-status.1070657/

I think they might be just starting up again. Taylor has been posting at Talkbass and I'm sure I saw a couple of people mention their put orders in recently. Best off trying to email him or ask around on TB.

Shame you missed out on this one! You never know, you could always PM to find who bought it and make them an offer! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/223464-fs-62-reissue-fender-precision-mij-sold/page__fromsearch__1
Regarding its use... do any of the compressors on the MS60b work like the famous Boss LMB-3 Bass Limiter/Enhancer? That's a very good pedal and I could get a used one for a very good price, but if any of the compressor simulators in the Zoom is just as good, I wouldn't have to buy it! I'm asking because time is running short and I can't tweak around my Zoom and try for myself... so if someone already knows some good settings, please let me know! Thanks!!
The compressors are great in the new Zoom range. Probably as good as, if not better than the Boss. Only complaint is a lack of signal metering, so you have to listen carefully to dial them in.

Is it a bad idea to use switch cleaner on a momentary SPST footswitch?

Best thread ever. -
I think that's the point Kev was trying to make! Not surprised to be honest, the only reason they were so expensive is because they were out of production. An original one in very good condition might be a collectors piece, but few people would be willing to pay over the odds for one if the reissues sound just as good if not better.

Playing with the Zoom compressors has convinced me to get one again, and after reading a load of Bongo's reviews I am leaning towards the Empress. I like the idea of parallel compression to blend in a bit of clean so you can squash without losing attack.

I think when I started using one, I upped the volume to compensate and am probably just used to it then!

Bought this recently off the forum, but due to a Darkglass Vintage epiphany I am selling a bunch of drive pedals including this one! A dirty preamp, supposedly an EHX LPB-1 mated to an Electronix Submarine preamp. This has massive lows on tap, and the tone control can go to bright and metallic, or deep and dubby and everywhere in between. Sounds best at the end of your chain to fatten everything up, works especially well after other dirt pedals! Product page: http://www.fuzzrocio...s.com/bdpg.html Gushing reviews: http://www.talkbass....as-sunk.860497/ Even though there is a link to buy the pedal on their site, I hear this pedal has now ceased production. [s]After the same price I paid on here which is £110 posted![/s] NOW TRADED This one has the bare metal box with BDPG stamped across the front in big letters, rather than the broke dick cartoon or the kid paint:

I had a VT Bass a while back and sold it, then bought a brand new one a month ago due to missing it. I've tested it out a couple of times at home but it's lived in it's box most of the time. Having just tried a Darkglass Vintage, I've decided to spring for the Deluxe version of that instead so this is up for sale. Boxed as new, 1 month old and never stepped on, [s]£120 posted[/s] SOLD!

My rig sits on a Gramma pad, but it doesn't stop the laundry rack or the spoon in my cereal bowl from vibrating like buggery when certain notes are played. Doesn't stop the wife complaining about the noise either I'm afraid.

Tone is subjective, and pedals all react differently to various basses, playing styles and amps. I had high hopes for the B3K but returned it the same day. After that I wasn't expecting much from the VMT yet I loved it. Yet other people, like Kev above, had the opposite experience! All are valid opinions though. The only way to tell for sure is to get both and return/sell the one you like least!
