Not many cheap gated fuzzes around apart from the odd Wooly Mammoth clone, but that only plays nicely with passive basses and no active preamps/pedals before it - looking at your sig, you look like you play active basses so this is a no-no. Source Audio OFD does a decent gated fuzz, plus the gate control can be used to gate any of the other fuzz models.

I'm in Little Paxton near St Neots, you? You should try a guitar amp sim out on the high end signal too - maybe the Joyo British Sound for a Marshall-in-a-box, or the Tech21 VT Bass or Oxford!

Complex chain you've got going on there! I like chorus last, distortion will make the effect less pronounced, but then again you might want that! The Bass Big Muff works really well with a dirty overdrive on front. I do this and set the BBM to dry mode so I in effect have overdrive mixed with boosted fuzz. Some fuzzes don't respond well with an overdrive in front, and same goes for some overdrives, so it really depends on the pedals in question. About those ODs - I didn't like the Joyo UD on bass, but I think it would work well in your application where low end loss is not an issue. It does sound harsh compared to some other pedals though, so depends if that's what you want. I have a Speaker Cranker and love it - although it's not very flexible with it's single gain knob. I use it as a dirty boost near the end of my chain. I use an SFT in front of my BBM, both that and the BB Preamp work really well in front of it in my experience - but you're already sending it a dirty high-passed signal, so it's hard to judge what would work best in your setup!

Neunaber fo' sho'. Only reverb pedal I've ever seriously gassed for! The stereo version has uploadable patches and has the best shimmer mode I've ever heard, and you can also upload chorus or delay patches: http://neunaber.net/pages/pedal-customizer-software I believe you can also put a different patch in the left and right channels and use an A/B box to switch between them too. For straight up reverb/delay on bass though, I think a high pass filter is essential to stop the low end getting too muddy. The EHX Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai can combine reverb and delay with such as filter, but of course it's much bigger than the others. Other reverbs I know of that have such a filter are the IE Nimbus and the Strymon Bluesky. Make the request to the Neunaber dude though, and I'm sure he could come up with some patches tweaked for bass!

My T40 had that switch also, it's only use was being able to select which of the coil of the bridge humbucker was in use when set to single coil mode! The pickups in my old Jazz had both black wires going to earth and white going to the pots - but they were out of phase and flipping them sorted out. Makes sense to me that if you sum two pickups and the result is less volume, there must be some cancellation going on, so flipping one of them should produce the opposite result, i.e. louder than one pickup soloed?

TIs are nickel though and these new ones are steel, so it's not like they've just gone and copied them. Nickel flats like TIs and Pyramids are so much smoother too the touch, I find La Bellas and the like really sticky by comparison.

Would flipping the phase of one of the pickups help? Just desolder and swap the wires around on one of them. I had the same problem on a Jazz once, made a world of difference.

I liked the light overdrive tone, but reckon it went a bit too mushy at high gain. The light od sounds a lot like the drive in the Ashdown MiBass 2.0 I tried out.

If it's anything like the OFD then it should play nice on a daisy chain. No additional noise added as a result, unlike some other digital pedals I have tried from EHX, Zoom and Sonuus. If you're not bothered about the plug, £95 shipped from Prymaxe!

It's possible to get some really good heavy distortion sounds out of this actually, especially since they nearly all have clean blends and you have a range of EQs and preamps you can tack onto the end. The Bass Overdrive (ODB-3), Bass Squeak (RAT) and Bass Big Muff models can sound really good for the heavier stuff, but they don't quite have the low end thump of my real ODB-3 or BBM. A bit of EQ could probably fix it though, I need to spend more time tweaking! The only low gain drive I like at the moment is the BB Preamp. Sounds a bit more muffled than a real one, but still a nice effect. The TS808 might sound good after some EQ also.
