1. I bought these on a whim just because they were so cheap and were getting rave reviews (see http://www.talkbass....clones-1031566/). What can I say, I am going through another pedal splurge at the moment so will be buying and selling quite a few until this GAS subsides! Both pedals are only a couple of weeks old, hardly used, mint condition (no velcro), and come boxed. First up, the Ultimate Drive. A clone of the Fulltone OCD, but with better low end retention. A supposed clone of the Tech 21 Blonde, which emulates Fender amps. Again, plenty of low end with this one. Clip: https://soundcloud.c...nk_10/joyo-jf14 £22 posted Or get yourself the pair for only £38 posted!
2. I run mine with volume on full, bass and treble both on about 9 out of 10. It is hotter than my other basses, but it's only an issue if you want to switch basses mid set, or if you have a pedal or amp that doesn't take kindly to hot input signals. I find I can control the volume easily with the volume knob if I need to, mine isn't like an on/off switch. This is also the first maple board I've actually got on with, all others I've had have been really glossy and plastic feeling, but this has a nice thin satin finish. Also the neck is slimmer than the Stingray and Ray34 as mentioned above.
3. WITHDRAWN - Had a change of heart, it sounds so good I think I should chop my Orange Terror Bass in for a CTM100 and keep this around until I do so!
4. It's a great little bass. Apart from being rather hot, have no issues with the stock electronics, it works fine with the Terror Bass which an active pad. I did try out a Stinger pre-EB style 2-band EQ, but went back to the stock one as it had more bite. I have considered the SD setup too, but am just really happy with the stock sound at the moment! Also, fitting a 3-band EQ would mean having to route a new hole for the jack socket on the side of the bass.

6. It's called 'The Billy Sheehan Signature Drive'. Catchy, eh?
7. You might be able to mod it depending on what it is? Saves having an extra pedal on board to finx another.
8. The strings might be a little floppy, but nothing that couldn't be fixed by seeking out a thicker guage set of strings! Might be difficult to find the right ones in 30" scale though, but there are also places that do custom sets relatively cheaply so nothing's impossible.
9. Strange it only says 'GP11 Pre Amp' on the front. I hope there is a power amp in there as well!
10. Add the Sonuus Wahoo to your list. It's not just a pedal wah, it's also a mighty fine envelope filter. Also the Source Audio Manta.
11. Totally different sounding pedals really, depends what sound you want. Some will say one, some the other, and some neither! Do the Team Awesome Fuzz Machine, 3Leaf You're Doom, Amptweaker Tight Fuzz and Malekko Diabolik have a look-in here, or are you just interested in those particular two? (I've probably just made your decision harder now lol)
12.
Someone on here made a rather tidy looking pad from black closed cell foam bought on ebay, and then cut a slot for the cab handle and locating holes for the amp feet. Others have used mouse mats to do the same job.
That would be me! Closed cell foam for a fiver from ebay, cut with a stanley knife and holes made by hand using a large drillbit.
13. Printed Circuit Board. A question for you DIY'ers - have any of you built the RunOffGroove Ginger? http://www.runoffgroove.com/ginger.html
14.
On a similar note is the VT now available with a balanced DI option ?
Yes - but beware it sounds different to the original, I had both for a while and sold the new DI version onwards.
15. Sounds like a fairly normal bass line you would hear in any modern indie/alternative/pop track on the radio, e.g. The Killers, We Are Scientists, Maximo Park etc. IMHO his playing is good and so is the tone.
16. I think people would be happier with it if was labelled 'Bass Metal Distortion'. The 'overdrive' label misleads those looking for a natural drive sound. The best and worst live distortion sounds I have heard were due to this same pedal. One with it going straight to the PA which sounded awful, and one going through an SVT & 810 which sounded immense!
17. Some overdrive and fuzz pedals can overload and sound bad with the high output from a Stingray, especially if you like to crank the bass and treble knobs, and many vintage style fuzzes apart from Big Muffs sound terrible with an active buffer before them. The Musket and TFR should be fine but no idea about the others you listed. Gotta say my absolute favourite distortion sound right now is my newly acquired SUB Ray4 through a Boss ODB-3. They sound like they were made for each other, so should be a good match with a HH 'Ray. Also, that pedal can handle a really hot bass signal better than anything else I've encountered. Give one a try if you haven't since they are so cheap to get hold of second hand, I will say though that it sounds best with a cab without a tweeter, and watch the treble control on the pedal, you certainly don't want it past noon! Funnily enough after spending loads on different basses and pedals, it's the cheapest bass into the cheapest pedal that's giving me the biggest grin!
18. I've been considering the phaser. Anyone compared the phaser model of the Mod Core to the Phaser Core?
19. I'd take the VT over the BDDI personally, it can be set totally clean and flat if you want it, and it sounds like an overdriven SVT when pushed, with a more natural sounding breakup and without the hole in the midrange found in the BDDI/BDI21.
20. Mike Lull pickups look great but are ridiculously expensive: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Lull_pickups.html
21. Likewise, bought a pedal from Bruce and it arrived well packed the next day. Cheers!
22. Always been tempted to try one of these, will probably pick one up at some point when GAS for other pedals and basses settles down!
23. Never seen a JV like this with a factory gold guard and without a small Squier logo, I thought they were all like this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/193935-fs-fender-logoed-jv-precision-bass-57ri-1982-l1099-woooop/ By the way, not trying to imply yours is not legit as I'm no expert, but someone who is will be bound to chime in sooner or later!
