1. Some of these are brilliant: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alesis-3630-Daft-Punk-Sidechain-/111289489443?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Outboards_Effects_MJ&hash=item19e95ed823 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bel-BD-2400-Vintage-Delay-AMS-NEVE-/111289632084?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Outboards_Effects_MJ&hash=item19e9610554 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clariphonic-kush-audio-Parallel-Eq-/111292367525?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Outboards_Effects_MJ&hash=item19e98ac2a5
2. Just traded one pedal for another with Mikkel, very smooth transaction, cheers! He even recorded some clips of said pedal on request, top man.
3. Sort of... the Darkstars were inspired by the original Bi-Sonics that came with these very basses. That's probably the new reissue Starfire bass that came out last year, I don't know if the Bi-Sonics they come with sound the same as the old ones. Bound to be plenty of discussion on the subject elsewhere!
4. Very good. Guild Starfire in case anyone was wondering! http://www.guildguitars.com/en-GB/instruments/details/?partno=3792400866
5. Damn you Ste, this thread is making me want to buy an iPad next!
6. There's a 7lb 6 oz Mike Lull P Bass for sale here for £1350 if you're feeling flush: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/229647-mike-lull-p4-final-price-drop
7. Interested on your thoughts on the Pro vs the Classic Pro?
8. I've used em for ages and am very happy with them. I have a steel set too which I'll be trying out next time I change!
9. Easy enough to trim the silks with a stanley blade!
10. Sold a pedal to AK, fast payment and good comms. Cheers!
11. Nice one - images are missing for the Jolana by the way!
12.
very nice! reminds me a bride!
Has your wife got horns, a wide neck and five knobs? (sorry, couldn't resist)
13.
James Jamerson of Biffy
!
14. Orange have been known to replace broken amps out of warranty for free, so it's certainly possible they could do the same with a cab! Even if they charged over the odds, it'd probably still be cheaper to buy one of those than a matched pair of something else.
15. Seriously, I'd contact Orange about getting an original replacement driver. Anything else is unlikely to work as well due to it's strange design. Where did you read they are Deltas, is the info reliable?
16.
I badly want a fuzz, but I can't narrow it down - for low end I love the tfr and the swollen pickle as well, for the mids I love the musket and I also really like the cog tarkin - it sounds really musical. What do I do?
Get a TAFM. Lovely bass. Lovely mids.
17. You might find that the pickup in that is not far from a classic pre-EB, in which case you might get more benefit going for a preamp change!
18. The Sterling's are ceramic whereas most Stingray pups are alnico, so that's something to bear in mind. A classic 2-band EQ circuit will also help if you're going after the traditional Stingray tone. I have a Ray4 coming my way so I'll be looking to mess about with the electronics on that too! Leaning towards Nordstrand for the pickup. I also have an East 3-band pre which sounds similar to the 2-band but with an added mid control - whereas the modern Music Man 3-band said have a harsher more aggressive sound. The Retrovibe Stinger is a cheap way to get the 2-band tone too, but it'd look odd on a bass with holes for four pots!
19. Depends how bad you are talking, got any pics? If you ordered it online and are not happy with it you can always send it back, that's what the distance selling regulations are for!
20. Come on then, who are the band?
21. Look at other band's pages to get ideas, but gig listings (as Facebook events so they show up in people's calendars and they can invite others), photos, audio links (Soundcloud / Bandcamp) and YouTube videos are pretty much a must.
22. Quite often I'll look online to see what bands are playing in nearby pubs. More often than not the bands listed have almost zero online presence, and since I have no idea what they are like, I end up not going to see them. Having a simple FB page is not hard to set up, and may result in more people coming to your gigs. Simples.
23. I am still yet to find a fuzz I like more than my TAFM!
24. Hoping to order one soon to audition it against my SFT!
