1. Nice one - images are missing for the Jolana by the way!
2.
very nice! reminds me a bride!
Has your wife got horns, a wide neck and five knobs? (sorry, couldn't resist)
3.
James Jamerson of Biffy
!
4. Orange have been known to replace broken amps out of warranty for free, so it's certainly possible they could do the same with a cab! Even if they charged over the odds, it'd probably still be cheaper to buy one of those than a matched pair of something else.
5. Seriously, I'd contact Orange about getting an original replacement driver. Anything else is unlikely to work as well due to it's strange design. Where did you read they are Deltas, is the info reliable?
6.
I badly want a fuzz, but I can't narrow it down - for low end I love the tfr and the swollen pickle as well, for the mids I love the musket and I also really like the cog tarkin - it sounds really musical. What do I do?
Get a TAFM. Lovely bass. Lovely mids.
7. You might find that the pickup in that is not far from a classic pre-EB, in which case you might get more benefit going for a preamp change!
8. The Sterling's are ceramic whereas most Stingray pups are alnico, so that's something to bear in mind. A classic 2-band EQ circuit will also help if you're going after the traditional Stingray tone. I have a Ray4 coming my way so I'll be looking to mess about with the electronics on that too! Leaning towards Nordstrand for the pickup. I also have an East 3-band pre which sounds similar to the 2-band but with an added mid control - whereas the modern Music Man 3-band said have a harsher more aggressive sound. The Retrovibe Stinger is a cheap way to get the 2-band tone too, but it'd look odd on a bass with holes for four pots!
9. Depends how bad you are talking, got any pics? If you ordered it online and are not happy with it you can always send it back, that's what the distance selling regulations are for!
10. Come on then, who are the band?
11. Look at other band's pages to get ideas, but gig listings (as Facebook events so they show up in people's calendars and they can invite others), photos, audio links (Soundcloud / Bandcamp) and YouTube videos are pretty much a must.
12. Quite often I'll look online to see what bands are playing in nearby pubs. More often than not the bands listed have almost zero online presence, and since I have no idea what they are like, I end up not going to see them. Having a simple FB page is not hard to set up, and may result in more people coming to your gigs. Simples.
13. I am still yet to find a fuzz I like more than my TAFM!
14. Hoping to order one soon to audition it against my SFT!
15. That treble control only sounds good in that one spot doesn't it! Which is your favorite? Also, seen this? http://wrenandcuff.com/site/the-stompboxes/the-hangman-2d/
16. Delivery is from the UK if you select the UK warehouse. You can choose to have it sent from China too, although not sure why you would want to! I must say, I love the ODB-3 though, my favourite high gain distortion. Through a dark sounding amp (Orange Terror) and tweeter-less cab, it rips.
17.
Joyo Ultimate Drive. Pretty cool pedal, much nicer sounding than the Boss, and unlike the Muff, it can do nice low gain sounds too.
And, cheaper than the link i posted earlier £18 delivered from the UK: http://www.donnerdeal.com/joyo-jf-02-bypass-guitar-ultimate-drive-effect-pedal.html Fingers crossed mine might arrive today!
18. Ah, the band made infamous by chucking a used tampon into the crowd at Reading Festival '92!
19. If you for example EQ in a bass boost and have it before the compressor, playing low notes will make the compressor clamp down more than it otherwise would, so the comp is fighting your EQ changes, therefore you might want the EQ after the compressor. On the other hand, say you're a heavy fingerstyle player and are using the EQ to get rid of clank - you might then want the compressor after the EQ, no point feeding the compressor frequencies it's going to react to when you are just going to cut them afterwards. So, it depends!
20. Try fitting an S1 switch to the Jazz for series/parallel switching. Supposedly sound more like a P-Bass when in series. Otherwise, as Loz says, use the EQ!
21. And traded!
22. Bump
23. I posted on their Facebook page yesterday and it turns out the builder is currently on a break due to family issues but hopes to resume building pedals in the future. Check out some of their more recent creations: https://www.facebook.com/CavePassivePedals
24. I use Status half rounds on fretless. They are rounds ground down to be smooth as flats. Less tension and a bit more zing than Chromes. D'Addario half rounds are even brighter I think. Might be worth a shot!
25.
Or maybe a bypass pedal with an led?
Only problem with that, is if he's too clumsy to hit the right pedal, you're just adding another pedal to make things worse!
