1. All sold, thanks! I should split basses up more often!
2. Here's a very good example of what a PJ sounds like when you have a well matched J pup:
3. Ok, open to parting this out now, bits are listed here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/227740-parting-out-a-squier-jazz-neck-body-tuners-controls-bridge Neck sold, consider this closed.
4. I am selling a Squier Jazz here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/227170-squier-standard-jazz-in-sunburst-with-wizard-pickups/ But since I've have had interest expressed in various parts for it, I am listing them here! Neck - £45 posted bare, or £55 posted with tuners - SOLD Tuners - £15 posted Body - £45 posted bare, £50 with plate and controls, £55 with plate/controls/bridge Scratchplate - £5 posted Controls & plate - £5 posted Bridge - £5 posted
5. Bump! Feel free to PM if you're interested in the body or neck - but if I break it up I'm inclined to keep the pickups for a future project.

Delay?

I use a MXR Carbon Copy to make spaceship noises. If control of a self-oscillating delay with the side of your big toe whilst playing bass simultaneously is an art form, then I'm Michaelangelo! The only delay I've liked on bass for actual delay purposes was the EHX Memory Man with Hazarai, as you could apply a high pass filter to the repeats to prevent the mud. Same goes for reverb, there's not many pedals that do it other than the Iron Ether Nimbus.

8. I'd say the Squier punches well above it's weight and you probably won't notice too much difference between it and the Fender. Biggest difference will be the maple board.
9. I am considering it! I've no idea how to tell what they are though - I guess I could desolder them and measure their resistance but there are no identifying marks apart from N and B on the neck and bridge pickups respectively.
10. I say do it! When you have the right bridge pickup it can sound great, I play my BB with both pickups on most of the time. I think you need a fairly hot Jazz pickup to match the output of the P though.
11.
Thanks for this! Waded through this for breakfast. Not sure what was lumpier, the porridge or the conversation. To conclude, MIM Jazz, 70s style Seymours, Badass, dead 45-105 rotos. Basslines bass? Flats Squier Classic vibe, flats Cheap, cheerful. No hint on amplification or recording techniques, although I'm pretty certain in recent live vids it looks like he's using a certain 2 112 rig of an alphabetically premium New York manufacturing location.
Also - TI flats on the cheapo bass with the Music Man pickup, and suspension bridge cable Jamerson La Bella flats on the P. A fact I was most pleased to learn as I have a cheapo bass with a Music Man pickup arriving tomorrow and already have a spare set of unopened TI's!
12. Always wanted to try one, sounds like it had the best ethereal sounding modulated reverb and shimmer effect going. Tip - get the stereo version and you can download a different preset into left and right channels then get two pedals in one by just plugging into a different set of input/output jacks. Only thing that comes close (well, when I was seriously looking at these about a year ago at least) is the Strymon Bluesky.
13.
You may want to listen to THIS . Interview with the bassist, focussing on gear.
Thanks, listening now - painful to listen to though, both of them are speaking really slowly and pausing every couple of words. I'll have what they're smoking!
14. Price drop to £120, or £135 posted!
15. Cracking bass, go for it. You might want to try an example of their Classic Vibe range beforehand though - they cost a little bit more but there are plenty of used examples around the £220 mark. The VM has a more aggressive sound, whilst the CV sounds slightly warmer, has arguably higher build quality, and a rosewood board with smaller vintage style frets (which I prefer the feel of personally but you may feel different).
16. Strung em through the body on my P Bass, survived the last 3 years just fine! They're a bit more flexible than most flats so less prone to breaking with the sharp angle.
17. The best bridge design I've seen is that of the new Yamaha BB - string through but angled to reduce the sharp break angle of the string, plus the string sits on a sharp fulcrum point to give it a more precise anchor point. But hey, this is a pickup thread!
18. I'd pop into Northampton (they have a PMT I think, not sure about any other shops) and try out as many as you can!
19. As has the Delano Xtender: http://goo.gl/LA9tiZ
20. Is that a rosewood board? Looks dark enough to be ebony!
21. The cheap pedaltrain option! (although perhaps a bit too big for 3 pedals) http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10213713/
22. The RH750 solves the problem with the top end btw for anyone that didn't know!
23. Ssh, those are banned! Sorry, not interested in one of those. The intention was to have a clear out and I've ended up acquiring a bass after buying Hamfist's Westone last night! I've had some overseas interest and this may very well be sold - just waiting for a response to a shipping quote.
