Do you mean 'disco octaves'? If so, I play index finger on the low note, followed by ring then middle on the high notes. But some people play it with two fingers with agile string skipping, or play the low note with the thumb then use the first two fingers.

A Super 12 is perfect for a pub - less footprint than your typical cab, but a bit of extra height so people can hear you. I personally would change the Streamliner though, I thought the one I had sounded cr@p.

Er, maybe it's not wired up correctly? There should be a massive difference, from bright and clanging with it fully up and dull and thuddy when rolled off. -

[/quote] If I had a 30W valve amp on stage, I would want everyone else in the audience to hear it's tone, not just me. Any overdrive from the DI out in the head would sound harsh going direct, hence if it were me I would go for a JDX or similar to smooth of the top end, and carry a regular DI or M80 as a backup.

Check out the Radial JDX, you put it between the head and cab, and it has a built in speaker simulator: http://www.radialeng.com/r2011/jdx.php This way you'll get a tone into the PA that sounds very similar to your amp. I'm thinking of picking up a low wattage tube amp myself along with one of these!

The link's currently down but I use the Diago one which is more easily available in the UK. No problems in terms of noise, it's quieter than my stand alone Dunlop 18v supply!

The Talkbass threads on this pedal are rather amusing, so many people gushing over it and ready to hand their money over before they've even heard clips! Very interested to hear both of these though, I wasn't aware of Spencer's either! My favorite fuzz so far is the Team Awesome Fuzz Machine - only reason I would get rid of that is if they brought out a better/smaller version!

[/quote] I definitely notice the same between my BB1025X and BB415, so I believe the quarter sawn laminate neck (and/or the biscuit jointed body and string through bridge) contribute to that. It's just his method of matching pieces I am questioning! -

Ok, putting my mechanical engineering hat on: When trying to match a body and neck, if both pieces have a similar resonant frequency, then that would enhance the amount of vibration you feel through the guitar, making it 'sing' more, but perhaps it might also make deadspots more common, since the body and neck transfer energy away from the strings at this resonant frequency. So you might have two design aims in mind: choose two pieces that are as close as possible in resonant frequency; or the opposite, choose two pieces that are as far apart as possible. His method however does not fit with either of these two aims. Matching the highest pitch neck with the lowest pitch body, and the lowest pitch neck with the highest pitch body, would end up with a wide range of results, with some pairings resonating together and some not. I'd be less inclined to say it's bollocks if he actually explained things properly, but he doesn't appear to understand what's going on well enough to do this. -

He contradicts himself ask over the place. The first time he taps the necks, the quarter sawn neck is lower in pitch but he says it's higher. The way he mixes and matches necks and bodies of different resonant frequencies makes no sense, except maybe in his own head! -
You'd be right. I put wah first in line usually off the board anyway so it's ideal for me (if it sounds good). Looks like it has a fixed lowpass filter in parallel with the wah, which is exactly how I set up my Wahoo, but simpler and pressure activated. Could be a winner! I don't know how I got there, but I was flicking between desktop and mobile versions on Chrome for Android. BTW, the only reason I have too constantly do this is when viewing large threads like the one above - the mobile version often takes me to page 1 and only offers a next button; I have to switch to desktop mode to get the button to appear that lets me jump straight to the last page of the thread! Any chance of fixing that since it's the only thing that annoys me when browsing BC on my mobile?

I have the AMT. It's a cool pedal, but the sweep is a little hard to control. It can get really deep and subby on the lo setting though, and the hi setting is more classic wah territory - the mid setting I feel is not so usable. Doesn't beat the Wahoo for sound, but it's size is very convenient on a small board!

Standard mineral oil is generally recommended over lemon oil from my research. Apparently you can get it in chemists and hardware stores, I need to track some down! Lemon oil apparently dries your board out after a short time, which I'm inclined to agree with after using it myself, it never seems to last long, after which it's dry as a bone.

Spotify doesn't have all of the bands I want to listen to, so I quit my premium subscription after a while. I download a lot of music for free and use the free version of Spotify to check out new music then buy the very few albums I actually like. Over the course of a year, I probably spend the same as a Spotify premium subscription, but I know that a greater proportion of the money is going back to the artists - they will end up with at least £5 rather than 5p. I buy a lot of stuff from smaller bands via Bandcamp (who take a 10%-15% cut), or CDs at gigs where you can buy direct from the band to cut out the middle man!
