1. (I'm after the neck and tuners by the way so EMG should still be around!)
2. How are you playing it? You can play it faster if you play with pull-offs and hammer-ons as low down the neck as possible. Gonna attempt some tab from the top of my head: --------------------------------- --------------------------------- -----5--------5--------5--------7 0^5^7----0^5^7----0^5^7----0^5^7- (this bit needs lots of stamina during the keyboard solo!) --------------------------------- -2^0-0------------2^0-0---------- ----2-2^0-2^0-0------2-2^0-2^0--- -------------3----------------3^0
3. Just played it, although on a crappy laptop so couldn't hear your bass! Sounds very polished, the missus loved it in fact and wants to know if you have any gigs coming up! And if you can figure out a way to do the slo-mo windtunnel gurning at 3:00 live then I'll come too!
4. MXR Blowtorch, Tech21 Red Ripper, Copilot Orbit, off the top off my head! Start by checking out some YouTube demos of that lot!
5. It sounds good in concept but not in practice (to me at least). I've tried the Markbass, Ashdown and Owen pedals. First, the overdrive sound of all 3 was quite weak with not a lot of low end. Then, when you add a big dollop of distorted mids on top of your clean sound, you end up having to turn the overall volume down which makes the low frequencies quieter. Also the band pass filter made it sound a bit like the distortion was running through a fixed wah pedal all the time which didn't sound natural.
6. Price drop to £380 / £400 posted. Bargain for such a mint bass!
7. The Fralin is sold, posted earlier today. Regarding the SPB-3, there's no rust on the poles at all, but I think there was a scratch on one of the covers, let me take a pic...
8. The thread that refuses to die! Both sides of the argument have been stated repeatedly. If you still have a dead horse you want to flog, try Tesco.
9. Fralin sold pending payment. I'll try the Fender out one more time this weekend before deciding!
10. Selling a couple of Precision pickups that I acquired but never ended up putting to use! Lindy Fralin - £70 Seymour Duncan SPB-3 - £40 BOTH NOW SOLD I may also have a Fender 'Original' (AKA 62 RI) pickup going; I've had it in my main P for a while and just switched back to the standard pickup and actually enjoying the more agressive sound it has. Unsure yet but let me know if you're interested! Can put pics up later...
11. That's not gunk, it's funk, and you should leave it alone - never did James Jamerson any harm.
12. They're Mexican but any interest in a trade for one of the P's I have for sale?
13. There may be a way to enable Tapatalk to work with this site, an app that lets you browse multiple forums...
14. Handy with a soldering iron at all? There's plenty of mods you could do to a DS-1 if so. AFAIK it's similar to a tubescreamer, so I would look at a Digitech Bad Monkey or Xotic BB Preamp. Or perhaps a RAT?
15. Just my 2p: If you don't mind the in ear type, don't get 'noise cancelling' ones. They offer natural sound isolation like earplugs that doesn't rely on electronics - then your extra money is going towards better sound quality rather than fancy circuitry. This is a good place to shop: http://www.iheadphones.co.uk/
16. Do you have the original boxes to post in? The cab boxes are pretty sturdy, shouldn't be a problem sending in them via interparcel or some other cheap online courier. May be interested in this if I sell the basses in my sig, let me know if you are interested in a trade!
17.
The problem is, that metal frame thing. I would need one in reverse. Anybody knows anyone who could make one?
Why would you need to have a new one made? Looks like flipping it round as in the photo does the job just fine?
18. Just before Christmas I was lusting after a sunburst Road Worn Precision; this Classic 50's (2011/2012 model according to the serial) popped up first on eBay so I nabbed it, then a Road Worn showed up the following week so I ended up with both! I'm now selling the pair after coming to the realisation that I just prefer skinnier necks and rosewood boards. Compared to the Road Worn, this has a poly finish instead of nitro, weighs a bit more, and the neck feels slightly bigger although it's been said that they are the same size except the RW has rolled edges to give it a played in feel which makes it more comfortable. Also of course there's no relic job, and this one is totally mint! This bass resonates amazingly well, strum the open strings and you can feel the vibrations coming through the body and neck like no other bass I've experienced. It comes with a Fender gig bag and is currently wearing some roundwounds of mysterious origin! These are selling for £647 online, bearing in mind it's in such good condition I'm after [s]£400[/s] £380, plus £20 postage if necessary - or you can pick up from the St Neots area or meet me in central London where I commute to during the week. NOW SOLD
19. You should be able to contact the developer via the Play store and make a feature request!
20.
OH NOES! it's good. Might need one. Sounds a bit like the SFT maybe?
Sounds more like a VT Bass to me, the SFT is much woolier and less grindy.
