1. This thread deserves pics!
2. You should definitely give the Terror bass a try if you haven't already. The clean headroom, hot DI and noisy fan are all easy and cheap to fix, and if you want very clean and very loud there's always the 1000W version! I went from the Terror to the AD200B, then back again, ultimately because of the light weight and the fact it didn't need regular servicing. The tone is close enough that I was happy with the compromise.
3. According to the measurements made when Bass Gear Mag reviewed it, 'flat' is supposedly mids up full, bass and treble all the way down. I run mine with mids and treble just past 1 o'clock and bass just past 10 o'clock, into an Ampeg SVT210AV.
4. Only seen those BB5000's in black before, never been a fan of gold hardware but it works with the creamy white!
5. Just tried looking up vids of these basses on youtube but I could only find 3 videos of rambling Americans waffling on about them. I did find this though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QMbyPtf_ys
6. If I had one of those I think I'd have to string it up BEAD! I bet a low B would sound thunderous with both pickups on.
7. I bought some strings from Strings Direct recently and whilst I was on there thought I'd see what picks they sold when I stumbled across these: http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/p/914692/jumping-cow-leather-ukulele-plectrum-black/ It's like a big stubby triangle but made out of thick stiff belt leather. The top side is harder and shinier and the underside much softer, giving you two ways to use it. Sounds good on the P-Bass with flats. If you like playing with picks but don't like the harsh attack they give you, give one of these a try for only £2.99!
8. I've played a ton of gigs in London - the couple of times I got paid I was well chuffed. Nearly had enough to buy a packet of (cheap) strings.
9. I know. Most offer about £1 or nothing at all though!
10. Seems fairly standard to me, generous even, offering £5 per head after 20. Welcome to London.
11. Stop this insanity now - you CAN justify two P-basses! Put flats on this and rounds on the Blazer!
12. Try an image hosting service - I upload my images to imgur.com. Then just click the image button on the post editor and copy & paste the URL if the image. Edit - if they're on your blog then no need to upload them again!
13. I don't normally like white or white pearl guards, but I think they suit this bass the best followed by black! Tort world look pretty badass too. Always wanted an orange P... might have to try a classic vibe with a Capri orange refin!
14. Maybe it depends how you have it set, but in that video the volume dropped quite a bit when kicking it on!
15. You could spend £300 on fx and not even get close, or you could just buy SUB Ray4 instead and sound bang on!
16. Get a small-jack-plug-to-large-jack-plug lead from the V-amp to the line in of your laptop. You won't want to plug a passive bass straight into a line input because the impedance mismatch will alter the tone. Then record the samples using Audacity which is free software. If you want to play and have the sound come out of the speakers in real time then install the low latency ASIO4ALL driver and set Audacity to use the sound card in ASIO mode.
17. I guess he means two-piece body, which you can tell by looking at the grain. Fender (and most other manufacturers) usually use two or three pieces for their bodies. If they are well matched it's very hard to see the join.
18. As I predicted, the switch on the crossover and you get a volume drop. Therefore as you won't be doing this mid song they should have made that a toggle switch and made the second footswitch do something useful like a feedback loop. Also those filters sound quite resonant - something which sounds good for a wah or a synth, but not on a crossover!
19. I've not been using this lately so putting it up for sale. There's not very many of these pedals out there but if you've heard about them you'll know that they are well loved by both bass players and guitarists and sound awesome pushing a tube amp. Can be used as a clean boost, or push the gain for some warm germanium clipping. Some of the print has worn away, but it's otherwise in good working order. [s]Selling for the same price that this pedal sold for the last couple of times on here which is £85 posted![/s] [s]Price drop - £75 posted![/s] NOW SOLD!
20. Yamaha BB1025X is the bass you are looking for! I used a BB415 in my last band (kinda stoner rock) and it fit in perfectly. With both pickups on it sounds like a cross between a P and a J on steroids. There's a BB425 going cheap in the for sale section too, but the BB1025 is a step up in quality and matches your budget. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/BB1025XOVS.html
21. Sorry, I've no idea what strings are on there at the moment, they were on the bass when I bought it! Probably 45-105.
22. Maybe this should have gone in the bass porn section.
23. It only hums as much as a normal Jazz bass. Never did Jaco any harm!
