1.
I have to confess that I am not a fan of digital amps (a sweeping generalisation but I've owned or at least tried in a real-life situation many of the main players), I find that they lack what I would defined as 'thump/punch' in the low end.
Have you tried the Orange Terror Bass then? Thumps like a mofo.
2. A black BB2025X with ebony would be my dream bass. Best start saving!
3. Er, the B is 34" just like the rest of them, otherwise it would neet wonky frets like a Dingwall! The bridge is designed like that so you can get more adjustability out of the saddle length and reduce the break angle going into the body. Great basses these!
4.
I've been thru the mill with overdrives - from a SanaAmp, to a Tech21 Leeds, to using a blend pedal with a BassPod, to .... and honestly the most satisfying pedal I've used is a £30 Harley Benton 'American Sound' pedal - reported to be a clone of a Tech21 Blonde pedal, which itself is a Fender Bassman clone. From all things Motown to early Gene Simmons (check out 'She' or 'Watchin' You') to all out fuzz - this thing makes me happy,
Yeah, I forgot about those, good shout. They do a British ripoff as well I believe for more of a Marshall sound as well as what looks like a Sansamp BDDI/VT clone: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_american_truetone.htm http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_britsh_truetone.htm http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_bdi2000.htm
5. Wooly Mammoth if you want a gated fuzz, otherwize the SFX Micro Fuzz or MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe!
6. I wouldn't recommend a stock ODB-3 for this purpose as it's not really an overdrive. I have one and like it best set for mega distortion!
7. Digitech Bad Monkey - not sure what you can get one for these days but I saw them going for £25 new a few years ago! Get the Humphrey or SFX modded version for better bass response than stock.
8. Dealers in the US have been blowing out the AV 57 and 62 Precisions for under $1100, cheaper than the American Standards!
9. Just to get the standard questions out of the way! Where abouts are you? Are you willing to split them? Can you send by courier or is it pick up only? Interested in any trades? I've been keeping an eye out for another one of these cabs but money's a bit tight this month!
10.
He seriously needs to trim his strings before I punch him in the face. God! Just trim them!!!!
13. Yeah, I moved up from Croydon three months ago to the village of Little Paxton! I still commute to London though, so meeting there could also be an option.
14. I have here a beautifully knackered Fender Road Worn Precision for sale. Factory reliced, so still in 'as new' condition - and always will be! It is therefore impossible to harm the resale value of this bass by adding another ding! The classic two tone sunburst with a gold anodized plate oozes vintage cool. The neck is amazing, with vintage tint satin nitro finish, rolled edges, vintage frets, 7.25" radius, 1.75" nut with vintage reverse tuners. The neck is wider at the nut and the fretboard more curved than modern Precisions, but it feels a lot smaller in the hand than the similar Classic 50s series probably due to the rolled edges. I've not weighed it but it's the lightest P I've ever picked up - apparently they used specially selected lightweight alder for this range. Neck pocket is tighter than a gnat's chuff and also word has it that they use the same pickups as the American Standard. According to reviews, many say that for tone and feel, these are the best P basses that Fender have ever put out! Cheapest I can find online for this is £948. I'm asking for [s]£600[/s] £575 delivered, or [s]£575[/s] £550 if you can pick up (I live near St Neots in Cambs and commute to London). NOW SOLD
15. Yup - the pickguard from the BB424X should fit. Anything else would have to be custom made, but let me know if you find anywhere that does them! I would like a chrome P-Bass style one piece plate for my BB415.
16. Blend is only useful IMHO when using really heavy distortion, like a Bass Big Muff or ODB-3 set to high gain to bring back some clarity and dynamics. Both of these have enough low end by themselves - using a blend to try and bring back lost low end doesn't work that well in my experience! Anyway I imagine they may bring out a souped up version like they did with the B7K if the demand is there!
17. The numpty has put a £40 delivery charge on it with Paypal as the only payment method, then goes on to say he doesn't want to post it or use Paypal!
18. I've had that kit for almost a year now - one day I will get round to fitting it!
19. Might have to pick one of these up! Disappointed there's no tone control though, which is one of the things that made me return my B3K, hopefully this one isn't as bright. I wonder if the 'era' control just affects the EQ before the clipping section like the 'character' control on the VT Bass.
20. Bear in mind that the results may be skewed by the fact that the real pedal heads only ever look in the effects forums and may not even see this poll!
21. Interested in selling or swapping for a roadworn P?
