1. I hated the factory strings on my BB415 and found the B to be really floppy - put on a set of Dunlop nickels and have stuck to them ever since!
2. You could also try taking the neck off - Fenders usually have the date stamped on the neck and body, they probably do the same on Squiers.
3. Surely you need an overdrive! Also, I love a wah before fuzz, and prefer an octave after fuzz so try that order out if you haven't done so already!
4. What make is it, do you have a link to the original place you bought it from? Could be interested if it hasn't gone already!
5. Head-Fi is the place to ask, but it appears that somebody already has! http://www.head-fi.org/t/393597/new-se102-is-this-old-e2c-rebranded
6. I spent the afternoon yesterday trying out a few sets of flats on my P (I had a few used sets in my box). I've been using LaBella 760FL for a while as they seem to be the standard recommendation - I didn't like them at first as they were quite bright, stiff and sticky, although they got better with age. Tried the Chromes and they had the same issues as the new LaBellas. Then I put the Pyramid Golds on and they are never coming off! They just sound perfect on this Classic 50s P of mine, and are so smooth to the touch that they, to use an overused Talkbass term, 'play like buttah'. Slides are just so effortless and I have the action nice and low - I can't put it down now, and have only done so long enough to write this, and now I'm off again!
7. Glad to see you went for the TIs! Those along with Pyramid Golds are my favourites.

9.
Bear in mind that the MXR - and indeed the DOD FX25 - are band-pass filters, and as such they are more in need of a clean volume control or a blend control than low-pass filters are. Personally I prefer the sound of low-pass filters on bass.
Maybe off-topic as it's out of the price range of the OP, but when it comes to blended bandpass vs lowpass, I like the bass wah preset on the Sonuus Wahoo - fixed bandpass at 100Hz with the auto/pedal filter acting on another bandpass in parallel. I prefer the sound of a swept bandpass to a lowpass as it just sounds funkier, but this allows you to do that whilst keeping the lows intact!
10. Apart from the new bells and whistles, does the actual fuzz sound any different to the original? If someone has both, please could you set them to 100% dry and compare the sounds?
11. I perch mine aloft an SVT210AV, and it sounds great!
12. Rather than splash the entire amount on an American Standard, I would get a used Classic 50s wearing flats, and a Squier Matt Freeman wearing rounds! In fact I plan on selling mine to do just this!

Any dings at all, and do you still have the original pickup and bridge?
14. I used those two together for a while too (although the Bad Monkey was a Humphrey modded one for better bass response). I switched the BM out for an Xotic Bass BB in the end though. Either way, the VT does love a boost or overdrive in front of it!
15. Yeah, I use my Team Awesome Fuzz Machine set to ow gain in that manner too. The VT does not have the mid-scoop of the BDDI though - I measured it myself and by tweaking the knobs was able to get an almost flat EQ apart from the speaker sim roll off.
16. I recommend you try the VT Bass if you haven't already - best thing out there for getting a valve sound out of a solid state amp! The DHA VT-1 tube pedal is also worth a look and I'm a big fan of the Catalinbread SFT also:
17. It's a bit like marmite that one, I'm not a huge fan of the look. It would look much better IMHO with white pickup covers and a vintage tint neck without the blocks!
18. Not sure about the Jazzes, but when it comes to Precisions, the Classic 50s is miles better than the MIM standard, and is also fitted with the same pickup as the American Standard, whereas the pickup is the weakest link in the MIM.
19. Used to use Dunlop nickel 45-130 assuming that fatter strings would be the way to go but am a recent convert to 40-125 - they are growlier and easier to play!
20. Perfect, thanks! Here's a direct link to the P-Bass designer: https://www.yajimastringworks.com/kisekae/iagree1.asp?p1=PB
21. I did but it doesn't have a wide selection of scratch plates plus just wondered if any others existed!
22. Sandberg has an excellent little configurator to let you see what your custom bass will look like, with a range of finishes, necks, pickguards etc: http://www.configurator.sandberg-guitars.de/ Does anyone know of anything else similar? I'm in the mood for building a bitsa Precision and would like to try out some different combinations!
23. Tree fiddy? That's a great deal! Apparently the 1025 and 2025 use the same pickups but have different part numbers and prices when I contacted Yamaha about getting some for my BB415. I didn't reply to get to the bottom of it as I'm considering just upgrading to a 1025X/2025X to get all the other improvements to the neck/body/bridge. Gonna go to Bass Direct to try some out at some point!
